Have you heard the original of Bohemian Rhapsody? The reason Pentatonix did it so well is because of the original. Freddy Mercury wrote it back in the early 70s. It's a classic.

younger generations didn't see Queen like we did back in the day, never saw them live which is an experience that can not be understood. Freddy Mercury was a god as a front man and I am so sorry that he did not live long enough to see the treatments that we have now for the disease that killed him. His voice was in a class of its own.

That moment when Adogg's face has a look of wonder that gradually changes to joy. You never heard anything like them before because there has never been a band like them before.

I didn't hear you mention Queen at all, so I'm thinking you may not have seen Freddie Mercury perform this iconic "rock opera." It is an absolute classic, written by Freddie and sung by him, with phenomenal guitar solos by Brian May (who happens to have a PhD in Astrophysics, which is why Pentatonix put the sky-scape scene over the second guitar solo), and sensational backing by the rest of Queen. Freddie and Queen are rock legends, and you will miss a lot of the creative side of this video if you haven't seen the original.

I was thinking the exact same thing! Adogg - please go back and react to the band Queen performing this song! It's their song, and it would give you an even better idea of how awesome Pentatonix is to be able to do it without instruments! (And most people can see and hear a definite likeness between Freddie Mercury (Queen's lead singer) and Mitch!

Had you ever heard the original by Queen? They kept it fairly close to the original, which is amazing considering it was done a cappella. Check out "Come Along", "Papaoutai", and "Love Again".

I am a HUGE HUGE HUGE fan of Queen seen them live many times, Roger Taylor Queens drummer was born where I live, I don't like other people covering their songs, Freddie was a one off no one like him, Brian Taylor, John Deacon were 4 phenomenal musicians and also incredibly intelligent all have high IQ's. I have followed Pentatonix since I heard Hallelujah, so when I seen they had covered this, which for us BRITS is sacred, It was the first time I actually thought oh dear, because of Brian's guitar solo, how on earth were they going to create that. I had real trepidations because I do like them and didn't want to spoil it. Well I was sitting with my mouth open catching flies while listening to this, they didn't try and take away the feel of the song, but fit it to them, the fact that Kevin was doing the drums is still to me mind blowing , Avi's rich base was out of this world but for me MITCH owned this, his guitar with that blow horn was genius, Brian May has seen it and actually cried or so we have been told, he promoted it on his own platforms with the words FREDDIE WOULD HAVE LOVED THIS, I believe this also, him and Mitch would have got on very well, both eccentric both mad as hatters both showmen. It took them 5 years to try this because it is such an iconic song. They did it proud my admiration for them after this went through th eroof.

You're going to love "Mary Did You Know". It's become a Christmas Classic. I hope you get to it soon.

They are TRUE talent and musicians, they don't need autotune or fancy vids!

Brian May, the lead guitarist of Queen, linked the video on his social media platforms. Brian May has a PhD in astrophysics which is why there were stars. Mitch only uses the megaphone so you realize who is doing the guitar sound. We call it the Grassi Guitar. I saw them do it live as their encore for the Christmas 2018 show. It sounded virtually the same. No megaphone required.

Bohemian Rhapsody is honestly one of the best songs ever written, a Freddie Mercury masterpiece, I can't recommend enough that you listen to Queen's original!

Fun fact: The guitarist whose solo Mitch sang, Brian May, he became an astrophysicist after more or less finishing up with music. He’s why they have the visuals of shooting stars a couple of times in the video. Brain May was one of the scientists on NASA’s New Horizons mission that went all the way out to Pluto and sent back those fantastic images from a few years ago, some of which May actually assembled as stereo images for a 3D perspective.

I've watched all of their videos - this one TONS of times, yet I'm still in awe every time I watch it - so genius!!!

Try Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy. It is a purely instrumental part of the Nutcracker. No lyrics. Yet Pentatonix won their second Grammy Award for it.

I love the young man's voice singing the lead on this song. To me he sounded so much like the original singer of this song. This group did an amazing job.
