How Is It Made? | Brass Bracelet | Bismarck Chain Tutorial ~By Kryher

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

As promised, I made another bismarck chain video tutorial. This is a basic bracelet with an S clasp. Enjoy!
As I had already mentioned this chain-making adventure is inspiring me to experiment with different techniques and my own takes to classic designs, this is one of the many to come chain "How is it made?" videos. The bismarck is becoming somewhat of a personal favourite as it is simple yet elegant and it's perfect for an everyday bracelet. Also, it is very versatile and I plan on making more variations of this particular chain!
For this video I used 1mm gold brass wire and I spun it to 2,5mm coil. I used my good old oxy-hydrogen water welder for the chain and my propane flame torch for the clasp, all with hard silver solder.
If you have any type of question or suggestion feel free to comment, I will respond to everybody!
Cheers!

Thank you!! Very inspiring. Into what liquid do you dip the finished coil before welding and snipping? How long did you leave it there?

Hi Susan, that would be my flux solution, I just dip it in and pull it out, it's faster than putting the flux on every solder point with the fine tip brush as I usually do, but this chain has a near ridiculous number of solder points 😅

@Bohdan Kryher thank you for the wonderful video :) I did have a question about this chain style: I see that you used a 1mm wire for this chain but I am curious about the mandrel size you used for the initial coil rings. Do you have an aspect ratio that you'd recommend for this type of chain?

Are you also using an oxy hydrogen water welder? It just takes more time and you have to be very precise and find the right timing to actually make the soldering, it takes practice but it's not impossible, trust the process!
