It is delightful to see you teaching Shia about Ibn Arabi and Mulla Sadra. Long ago, I and a friend studied Tusi's Tajrid with you when you lived in Pomona. I enjoyed those lessons greatly. The Shia need Ibn Arabi and Mulla Sadra tremendously. Their work gives Islam the spiritual depth and intellectual rigor needed to be relevant in 2022 and beyond. Hopefully, you'll also bring your listeners Rumi, Hallaj, and Iqbal, who were giants in their own paths.

The important thing to consider about Ibn Arabi is that things are only God in so far as they are expressions of his intellect. This is similar to the platonic concept of the realm of forms or archetypes. So all created things in a conceptual sense are coeternal with God in so far as they are born of his intellect or generated from him. The difference between the divine mind and the mind of the creature is that the creature is temporal. The creature experiences things in a linear fashion one after another while God himself is not beholden to space and time. For him, all things exist in the eternal now or within timelessness. God does not think in a linear fashion like created beings rather his mind contains all possibilities potentialities and information. These potentialities are the archetypes. When things arise in material creation, it is because these archetypes have been given reality. God has in essence imparted his being upon them. So one analogy used by Ibn Arabi is the pure white light that shines through the prism or the Stainglass window which is then fragmented into in numerable colors. Think of the divine light as God’s being. Think of the Stainglass window with it’s numerous colored panels as the archetypes within the mind of God. Without the pure white light, there are no colored lights. So the pure white light shines through the colored panels of the Stainglass window, illuminating them and creating the myriad lights of different colors that are all expressions of the pure white light. The colored lights are distinct from the pure white light but by virtue of being lights, they derive there being from the original white light. So what does this mean? Well, in terms of the root of my being I am God in the same way that the various colored lights are in one sense the pure white light in different manifestations. But I am not God in essence because in essence God is eternal, unchanging, immutable and beyond space and time. As a creature, I am none of those things so in the most ultimate sense, I am absolutely not God. I am nothing. So far from self exaltation, this is the deepest form of humility. I am literally nothing without one who imparts being on to me through his grace.

I feel a little confused. Are people in in the hellfire going to experience pain in a physical burning type of way ? And what about the punishment of the grave.? I am concerned about the idea of punishment by Allah. I wished everyone would simply get the chance to gain awareness about Allah`s greatness and repent voluntarily towards Allah, so that we would all experience Allahs mercy without getting punished.

Salaam brother Mustafa. May God Ahad bless you for confronting the illusion of wahdate vojood : pantheism, which I have been confronting for the past 70 years, since I was 13 years old, studying Towhid versus this pantheistic shirk wahdate vojood and still fighting it to my last day on earth Inshaallah! ليس كمثله شى ! لا تدركه الابصار God is everywhere, does not need to move but everything moves, all matter moves, Rooh moves: واذا سويته ونفخت فيه من روحى God moved ; blew Rooh ( lifeforce, by His Command) and bestowed Nafs( human personality into humankind Adam . God is The Creator of every and all beings from nothingness God does not get blown!!

If I remember right, the Catholic Church changed the traditional understanding of Hell from burning pain to pain of separation in the 70s. Human reason dictates Hell cannot be eternal pain and I guess intelligent people will realise this before the general public. Ibn Arabi, I think, was fortunate not to be killed as a heretic.

I deeply appreciate this lecture, very beautiful and beneficial. May Allah bless your soul and our souls, and may His light be upon us all. With all respect, regarding the virus or the pandemic, let us not be overwhelmed by it's gravity. Viruses, bacteria they've been always part of our existence. We need them, they are the ones that strengthen our immune system, therefore it plays a vital role in our health. But if we fight against them disinfecting everything around, injecting chemicals in our bodies etc, we won't allow our bodies to get ''familiar'' with them, therefore we will weaken our immune system and we will be subject to diseases. We will only end up being dependent upon Pharma Industry. A virus can be dangerous to some and insensitive to others, therefore not each of us should follow the same rules or medication. It's not the first time when some people have died because of a virus, it has happened every year all over the world without being reported. Instead, is the first time when a virus is so ''famous'' . A mask is unable to protect against the spread of viruses unless you stop breathing because viruses enter through it. It would be beneficial to look at this situation as a whole and to ask ourselves, where these safety measures will lead? To separation perhaps? Fearing each other? Hating each other? Or are these measures at least reasonable? Why suddenly this drama around a virus? Because they still constantly suffocate us with false news on radio and tv? It would be most beneficial to inform ourselves and to not participate ignorantly in some social, economic, earthly decisions that others have made on our behalf. It seems to me that all these measures only lead to a more lifeless, virtual existence, to a new Transhumanist Era. About Transhumanism anyone can read on the official websites on Internet. Blessings to everyone, As-Salamu Aleykum.

Wahdat ul Wujood is a fundamental belief of Sunni Islam throughout history. It was accepted prior to Ibn Arabi as well. Sunni scholars like Sahl al Tustari (Rah) taught it and his student who was also Sunni Mansur Al Hallaj (Rah) also taught it. It is foreign to Shiaism. Shiaism adopted it after the Safavids (originally Sunni as well) forcefully converted Iran to Shia from Sunni.

What kind of religion is this? One day you follow Ibn Arabi then 400 years later, he is wrong, and there is a new interpretation! Is this the religion that Allah says he has perfected? A religion built entirely on speculation and conjecture? Alas, that is why I am Shia. We don’t deal with this ridiculousness. Jami at-Tirmidhi 3788, the Prophet said he leaves behind the Quran and his Ahlulbayt, and they shall not separate from each other until they meet at the Hawd - meaning they cannot deviate from the truth. Quran 33:33 - Allah swt purified the Ahlulbayt with a thorough purification, against sin, against misrepresentation and leading men to deviation and misguidance. Yet, they deny. You should be even more angered than I am if you’re Sunni. You built your houses on sand that easily blows away.
