All around the world Indian food is loved and venerated so much so when the Brits left India , apart from the LOOT ,they took with them the venerable Chicken Tikka Masala which is their national dish today !!!!!!Cuisine from the four corners of our nation is different and the most delicious …… where on earth can any nation boast of hundreds of delectable cuisines ! Fun fact- Langar was originated in the early Sikhism by our founder- Guru Nanak Dev Ji. To abolish untouchability & caste differences, Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji brought the idea of langar, where people from all religions, castes, colours, creed were made to sit on the same floor, symbolising how each & every human is equal in all terms. And the food could be served by anyone, rich or poor again this process being called “Seva” that means serving without any expectations of rewards for performing it! Since then, the idea of langar has been adapted pan India, knowing how beautiful our country’s people are when it comes to serving ❤

Obligatory message: These places aren't unsanitary, the food they make is perfectly safe to eat, their religious rituals include maintaining cleanliness, these meals aren't disgusting, and large scale cooking is very different from industrialised cooking. I can understand that people are confused when faced with new things, but assuming that you're not a toddler, you can take the time to bother unlearning your stupidity and racism towards Indians, and understand that your preconceived notions and ideas about these things can be wrong. Sincerely, a white person with sense.

I dont understand why people are still suffering from poor nutrition and starvation in India, when there are obvious means to abolish hunger in this country!!! Something is broken in the system. Cooking foods in such large batches helps obviously, but setting up food banks and providing farm aides are another way as well.

The number of such places is infinitely lesser than the population. For comparison, the entire country of Sweden has lesser people than just one city in India like Mumbai or Delhi. So, it puts things into perspective as to how many people there really are, in a billion and a half. It's hard to uplift such a landmass out of hunger completely...however, India has been making great progress ever since its independence from colonization.

The oldest public kitchen in India is the Jagannath temple at Puri with records going by 1500-1700 years atleast. Rest all kitchens are copied from it by 1500 year old Muslims and 500 year old Sikhs.

Thepla dough is not from whole wheat flour. Its gram flour.

Actually, thepla is made from a mix of whole wheat flour (atta) and gram flour (besan). Other flours like jowar and bajra can also be used to up the nutritional quotient. Sincerely An Indian who lives in Mumbai in a Gujarati locality and has grown up cooking and eating Gujarati food🇮🇳

I know it’s all culture with eating with hands, however, I’m very texture adverse and would probably have a panic attack having to touch all the food. I wish I could so I can appreciate different cultures that much more….

@shamrockshawtty so using paper makes it more hygienic. Pleasee tell me when toilet paper invented is it with human society or it's new I mean I think before paper you wouldn't be cleaning your asses also toilet paper is made up of trees if you don't know for being the largest population and still have such biodiversity with us is because we rely on ourselves instead taking it from the precious nature. I don't know about you but we wash our hands after that. What we have radially is that we use as a cleaner. Please I recommend you use the Jet as a cleaner you will be a fan of it.😂😂.

I was enjoying the show until the narrator inserted her little Agenda saying that Hindus eat beef and pork on Onam! why? why do you feel the need to insert that in the middle of a show where people are eating Vegi meals, on Onam nonetheless

I agree. It took me ages to understand that she was saying "halwa". I know what halwa is but I have never heard of Pali halwa and never seen it prepared in this particar way so I couldn't recognise it instantly. Her pronunciations only made it harder. Overall, a great docu tho. I really enjoyed it
