Paraphrasing, but "write an antihero like they're making their case to God why they should be let into heaven" is absolutely brilliant. Great advice.

I can't tell you how smart it was to have Fincher to direct this. Even though Fincher is more known far dark bleak visuals with extreme precision, that is the very reason that it works so well. He puts in ideas visually that would never even occur for other directors. You should do the lord of the rings trilogy once, a real big thing, half hour long.

Great job again. I love this movie. I always loved how fast paced the dialogue was and it comes not in a way that feels over acted or over rehearsed, it's just so natural for them to be speaking that way. All the actors did a great job in the confidence they spoke with and I'm sure that came from having a great writer and director.

Aaron Sorkin dialogue is a good middle. His dialogue is heightened reality, but the delivery makes it so you're not turned off by it. I definitely prefer realistic dialogue overall, but Sorkin dialogue is a lot of fun. David Fincher's perferctionism in performance goes hand in hand with Sorkin's perfectionism in dialogue delivery, so I'm glad they matched up. Thanks for watching!
Continuing to enjoy these. Nice detail with the visual audio levels being linked to the speaker in the black/white segments.

Thanks! It adds a nice visual touch in my opinion. Every video I'm trying to add something new in order to make it better.
Aaron Sorkin is my favorite screenwriter...I fell in love with his writing back when I was a teenager and saw A Few Good Men...I said, “That’s the type of writing I want to do”. When I write stories (I am an educator and I write stories for my English classes), I think about how Aaron would write a scene...quippy dialogue, get in late and out early, let the dialogue reveal what’s happening, make it snarky and funny, but also meaningful. It shouldn’t sound like real dialogue, it should sound like what people WANT to sound like in real life. Yes, Sorkin is sort of a punchline for some in the industry, yes, he does have his signature sound and phrases, but in truth, all writers have this. You can read a story and almost instantly tell if it was written by Stephen King or by Tom Clancy. They each have an imprint on the writing that usually identifies who they are. And in developing your own style, you often borrow from your heroes until you find your own voice. I often watch films written by Aaron Sorkin just to listen to his art.
Really loved this one!! This type of content (letting the writers speak for themselves) was definitely missing on KZread and I'm so glad I found your channel! I'm subscribed to dozens of video essay style channels but yours stands apart! Awesome work!! Ps: I feel like the social network is so good because it literally checks off all the boxes of what makes a movie great (plot, timing, visuals, editing, score, characters.... Etc)

Sorkin's definitely the guy that has premeditated all of his answers and then recites them verbatim. It actually was difficult initially to find him say anything other than his typical one-liners. He's a sharp guy, so I'm glad I was able to delve a little deeper into his process. Thanks for your great comment!
