I like to play TFT like a rogue like, let the game decide how I'm playing each time and go from there. I think that it's more fun, and you actually learn how to play the game and adapt to the game. Following tier list alone can only get you so far before you plateau from skill

thanks for you insight, playing by feel is exactly how i enjoy playing games. Ive started TFT 3 weeks ago and got to gold III but need to get an edge on "when to roll". The overview you post on dmg type and tankiness type is helpful and I'll be referring to that actively for a while.

Honestly, this is what I was missing most about TFT. I felt like in set three there was a lot more skill expression because of the galaxies, being able to adapt and knowing what to do every game through fundamentals made me shine and it was the first time I ever climbed to Masters. This just seems like that but better, and more interesting. I'm really excited to try out this set, I had kind of given up on TFT after the last two. It felt like you could just force whatever flavor of the week comp every week and if you didn't you would lose to worse players who just read a guide and didn't actually learn the game. Over time, maybe over the course of two or three games in a row It would tilt me and I would start playing poorly as a result and get angry. It just wasn't a very fun game, and I'm really hoping that TFT is better this set as a result of the changes.

I feel called out in a good way. I made it to D2 last season forcing fast 8 lasercorps most games. Sure I knew that comp inside and out, but if I had to flex to something I hadn't played before it was a quick loss as I relied more on a comp guide than my own brain. Great vid as always BunnyMuffins

Really great guide. Thank you for the information. Something i think people may be missing though is gathering this missing data themselves. There is nothing to keep 3rd party addons to ask players to tell them what comps/things they selected are and create their own database of this information. This isnt pure information, but still out there.

Loved it, I came back to TFT after skipping out on like 2-3 sets and I didn't really know what to do. After watching a few of your videos and changing my mindset of not focusing on like, only hitting the top tier builds and being more creative and consistent and actually using my brain I'm consistently on winstreaks and place in top 4th just because other people are fighting over Noxus, Zed or Akshand and meanwhile I'm free to choose from a plethora of builds and champions that people skip out on. Absolutely great feeling in the lower ranks.

As someone who has picked up and quickly excelled in multiple disciplines. One of the challenges presented by letting people learn by feel or first principles is having too broad of a focus. I think typically I've observed that those who quickly improve usually choose a highly specific area to improve (for example forcing a single comp, learning details and variants) then carry over some fundamental knowledge into the next specific skill or area, where it becomes easier with every new focus. For example, people who one-trick in mobas are more likely to find comfort in a champ allowing them to focus more on fundamentals. People doing martial arts improve quicker when they practice a single technique than a barrage of random moves. Just my 2 cents though, the point you made about using stats definitely stands though. In the case of TFT stat websites and comps, I can say they are genuinely super useful... up to a point. I think using purely meta-comps and looking at placement rates got me to mid diamond in under 1 month of playing TFT. Once I got to this point i realised that there was a lot more learning to be done in paying attention to matchups, scouting, identifying item priorities etc. But if I hadnt been able to play strong comps and use good items I wouldnt have had the tools to quickly learn and reach an elo where my oppenents forced me to improve.

I don't agree. What you're talking about is "massed practice" which is learning one thing, then moving to another once first thing is mastered. This is actually common myth and the theory that this is the most optimal way of learning, has been debunked through research many times and it's been proven it's better to actually learn multiple things little by little. While massed practice feels like you're progressing very fast, your brain actually forgets a lot very fast after some time. The best example is cramming for exams. Yeah you may learn a lot and maybe even get a good grade, but in few months you won't remember anything that you learned. With mixed practice (learning multiple things at the same time) it will take longer to progress at first, but the knowledge gonna be embedded in your brain much stronger due to spaced repetition and there are also other benefits like connecting what you learned to other knowledge. But I think in games you cannot really make mistake of massed practice because you're always exposed to every game mechanic when you play, so it's always mixed practice unless you're playing in a very odd way like using only jump button.

Im so glad learning by playing is being rewarded this set. I don’t like looking up meta builds, I like feeling out a random comp of my choosing and optimizing it to the point where it can beat brain dead meta players who only look up a guide. I like feeling the game out and exploring all it has to offer. Im definitely on the more casual side of tft and am probably not climbing as quickly as I could be, but to me it’s more fun making a comp your own and running wild with it then stealing someone else’s most optimal comp and using it and just putting puzzle pieces in place every game. I feel like there is so much more adaptation and game knowledge you need to have this set and I’m loving it!

I actually made it to masters in season 1. Grinded my whole summer away. I quit shortly after that because I hit my goal & I didn't think tft was going to become so popular. Back then, the top streamers only had about 1000 viewers. Most strategy late game revolved around positioning so you didn't get hooked my blitzcrank or have rogues in your back line. It was good to get blitz back then, even if not in your synergy. Anyway, just came back about a week ago & I'm boggled by how much it's changed. I'm only gold now. Mainly because I forgot almost everything & I'm having to relearn the game. It "almost" feels like a new game now. It's going to take a long time to get back where I was, if ever. We'll see! (It's funny telling people you were master season 1 in gold. They're like, no you weren't. You suck 😂)

The best part is that you can counter any composition with some luck in the draft. You don't need always the same hyper carry to winn. Now you can make any champ a carry when you combine it with the right augments and items. Also you're comp can be good and also be really bad depending on the enemy team comp. Learning you'reself is the best thing about the game. Who needs rules when you can make you're own rules.

As someone that isn't grinding rank I can say set 9 feels incredibly overwhelming. Being able to look up a guide and pick like 2-3 comps and try to play whichever one seemed best for my start is how I had been playing. I probably play like 20 games per set. At the end of set 8, I didn't even know what every champions ability did. In set 9, so far, I just lose. Trying to force any of the good comps doesn't work (or at least hasn't so far) but I don't know all of the champions and abilities and stats and items stats and expected power of other comps at various points in the game and it feels like I'd need 100 games just to start to know wtf I'm doing and it's highly unlikely I'll play that much. In theory, I like when I can sort of just pick something that sounds fun and try it, but in practice every time I've done in that in unranked like bronze elo, I've gotten 7th. I really only felt like I could do that in set 1 and it's probably because people were worse at the game rather than because the set allowed for it. Currently the outcome of every match to me feels completely random. I high roll and hit 4 3* units early and get what I think is good items? 7th. I come up with an idea and get all the rolls I'm hoping for? 7th. I get random shit and pivot halfway through and I don't even hit what I'm trying for? 2nd. It's a point where I know so little about whats going on that I don't even know when luck is a factor. i don't know if that first comp was just so dogshit that against an average comp I'd lose or if I got lucky but everyone else got luckier. When my rag tag random mishmash got 2nd, I have no idea if it was secretly strong or if the overall power level of the lobby was just low and everyone got unlucky or was bad.

personnaly i start to play tft this set, in 4 days i came in gold 4 by just playing noxus all game (if we exept 2-3 games where i got void), i dont how to play late (with 50g, to go lvl 8 9, to play with 4-5 cost) but i manage to win because i just need to be lvl 6-7, and spamming roll for kata and darius, all unit are bonus in mid late so 2 star is enought

  • @koalak1d593
    @koalak1d59311 ай бұрын

I only played 4 games this "season" and won 3 of those. Not by just following some guide but rather using "fundamentals" and choose the Comp by Items/Augm . My biggest issue is/was and prob. always will be transitioning from Mid to Mid-Late Game and then to the real Late Game. I won the last game only because I 3star´ed Jarvan who would never fit in my comp but I love to buy pairs and out of 2 J4 become 9 very quickly just by paying attention to your shop rolls. (Golden Ticket Game) . Sometimes it´s better to move down a tier (7-5 Units of that origin f.e.) and start using stronger units who´ll counter or work better against certain enemys. As you said: Every game is different. So always adapt from Game 2 Game. Have fun guys. and GL in your games..

Doesnt matter what u buy the point is to make the best board and last long, it could be juggernauts, challengers, invokers, ionia. whatever the game gives you to play make ur best out of it cause thatll be your best board. If i got a bunch of invokers or karmas id buy them and play it cause thatll be the best board but who knows down the line i may have to switch it with other pairs. Gotta adapt, etc. theres no right or wrong way or best set

  • @krash6951

So if you get setts you can still use that as ionia. If you already have ionia built theres no need to go any other build like warwick or something. But what you can do is if you have ionia built at 2-1 (level 4) lets say 3 ionia, sett, irelia and karma. What you can do on level 5 (2-5) is use your warwick to give you the juggernaut buff. Its all about building and building your strongest board. I did 3 ionia and 5 shurima in my last game and came 2nd but the shurimas werent planned at all so theres no best

Last set was my first one and I climbed to diamond, been playing for about a month. I had this principle of “trust the comp” that I used to apply a lot. Basically if I could get one or two good augments, Warwick two stars with perfect items and at least one mordekaiser with good items it was a guaranteed top four, if I could get also a lvl two Morgana or a legendary spell caster with gloves it was guaranteed top two, if I got a lvl three Warwick it was guaranteed win. And that’s how I averaged 3.6 place in about a month of climbing

I’m not even that high ranked so far (don’t play as much as my friend that I do double up with does). But just memorizing comps didn’t really work as it just made things more frustrating when you didn’t hit the units you needed so I gave up on trying to force things. On the flip side, learning to play this way made it so even when star guardians wasn’t S tier anymore last set, I still would do very well with the team when I ran it since I knew when it was a good time to run it

On the other hand, even follow lv up guide can punish me sometime. IDK why. I think is because of how i try force some comps that i should not make in that game and i ruin it. Anyway, play with the brain still worth? And you can give me some tips for who are having problems for make comps? Probably train my creativity and adaptability. Obs: i probably see all your videos dedicated for beginners in set 10 and some others like this video that have general tips

either go to options setting while in legend select screen or go to rewards slide all the way to the right then go to store/tacticians and slide all the way to the bottom. first method worked for me, 2nd method worked for others

THANK FUCKING GOD. Using your brain instead of just blindly following the meta? I massively prefer that over being beaten by someone who's spamming an op comp and got lucky.

Never played TFT but from what you are saying it sounds like y'all been playing checkers and now it's chess. As a guy who pretty much learns everyday for a living (i'm a programmer), I can tell you really know how to learn shit. One thing that you mentioned that needs emphasizing is that you need to use your brain, you can "just play" everyday and learn nothing. But if you play and think critically, ask questions like what went good, what went wrong, what would I change next time, be attentive etc.. and figure stuff out then you learn. Again not a TFT player, but this is applicable to everything that is complex.

Idk I have this feeling like everyone in the comment section seems so talented (got diamond in a month, played only for one year, high rank on mobile, etc)... I'm just your average person who did rely on stats, tier lists, and so on. Started in set 2, took breaks many times, came back set 8. The new variability in TFT is frankly intimidating, and I'm already finding myself lost in many games. I peaked at D2 last season and wanted to try for Master this set, but now it seems even further away than last time. Discouraging to say the least. But maybe this is designed to seed out "uncreative" players like me ...sadge. Guess I'll try to focus on fundamentals and see how far that takes me.

I feel like I need someone to explain fundamentals to me as I'm playing, I can't absorb knowledge especially if I'm not told why, I always hear do this do that, econ, best board, low roll, high roll, pace of the lobby, but I never hear *WHY*, I WANT TO KNOW WHY

I have no idea how to play this game and I get these sweaty nerds playing the meta every single time while I'm still trying to figure out what items combine to make what item and what champions do what. Even the lowest elo (my elo) is sweaty 24/7 gamers that play it all day and I literally have no idea how to play and don't understand how they are in my games.

It's not a pure gambling game, it's a luck management game. Poker also has RNG in what cards you draw but has systems that allow the player to play with stronger and weaker hands accordingly- TFT is similar to it in that manner since you can somehow predict the results, but you need to understand that they are almost never 100% guaranteed
