I need a full KZread video on this. I’ve always asked how much statistics does a data analyst use on a day to day basis.

I've got one! It's called "How I use Math as a Data Analyst" kzread.info/dash/bejne/pnaaq8pshrS-YtI.html
Btw this is descriptive statistics. You need something like sampled data to make inferential statistics.
Luke, if possible make a full video on this especially with a collaboration with Thu Vu 😅😅
holy crap, those lines in those box plots aren't min or max, they are Q1 and Q3 plus 1.5 x IQR, which could by way far away from min or max values

literally incorrect.

That's right. The fact that the outliers lie beyond those lines tells you that those lines are >not< the max and the min values.
This is descriptive statistics of a mostly normally distributed dataset. Since the distribution is >not< symmetrical, it is not true that 50% of salaries are below and above the mean. This would only be true if the distribution were perfectly symmetrical.

I love this joke, never gets old lol

stop calling these things statistics. if it's something a middle schooler understands it ain't stats...

What is it then?

I would call it basic statistics 😊. There are ofc much more than that like in machine learning that is build upon statistics. But often basic math and statistic can tell alot about the data that you are looking at. In those cases machine learning is over kill.

It's literally statistics. That's what the word means. It's like saying the photosynthesis process isnt science because kids study it
@mikehawk4583

@@za9883 you don't say kids know science because they know what photosynthesis is at a 6th grade level, do you?

"information based on a study of the number of times something happens or is present, or other numerical facts" - Cambridge Dictionary. It is understandable if "most" of the people understand it this way and call these "numerical facts" as "statistics". Unless you have some "statistics" to prove that we should not call these "statistics"
