I, myself, LOVE to use multi-band compression to control that lower mid-range in vocals, and top-end sibilance (without taking away the pronunciation and articulation) while keeping my vocals present and punchy!

I have tried it but I prefer the sound of C4! But whatever works for you, that’s what matters!
Hey man do you think getting the MCDSP is that much of the difference to the C4? Just for lead rap vocals mainly...is it worth buying or shall I stick with the C4? Your thoughts please? thanks Jacob

Hey Jag! In my opinion the c4 is a little more transparent. The preset I’m running for MC404 is quite bright and agressive but has a neat flavour. Maybe there’s a trial for the MC404 that you could test out and compare? Either way, with the C4 you can get a great result

Do you tend to use multiband compression on vocal busses?

I’ll sometimes use it on background vocal buses but on the lead vocal I’ll try and keep it to individual vocals so that it doesn’t crush them all together too much
