@After Work I use an M1 Max Macbook Pro 14" 👈🏻 completely overkill for data analytics... I recommend the M1 Air (or M2) if looking at macbooks as they have all you need

I like your emphasis on Excel and SQL as basis for everything. They rule the world. Complex SQL queries are absolutely mind-breaking.

Machine Learning is pure STATISTICS. I have a degree in Statistics and one of my best topics was Regression and Correlation Analysis. But nobody told me it was a major aspect of Machine Learning! I didn't even know Machine Learning was a thing 5-7 years ago!!! 😭😭😂😂🤣🤣😅

@@keepcontinue Ok. Data Science/Machine Learning is statistics heavy. At least you should know basic descriptive statistics, probability distribution, and Correlation & Regression analysis. But a good place to start learning data analytics is Excel, then SQL, followed by either Power or Tableau (or both, which I recommend), then Python for Data Science/Analysis. You'll need to have good knowledge of Statistics and statistical concepts to do Data Science. Projects are very important. As you learn a tool, practice it by doing a project to build your portfolio. Projects help you put into practice what you have already learnt.

There is a non-native Excel add-in called RegressIt or RegressItLogistic that can handle more machine learning models beyond the Data Analysis tool pack in Excel. It's quite awesome as you can do EDA and also plot a confusion matrix.

Linear regression is extremely important in business and multiple linear regression solves a LOT of the issues where linear regression is not good enough. Forming a solid basis with those is great.

It is an option, though it isn't as widely used or accepted as Python

If you keep adding variables to the linear regression, the R-squared should tend to decrease, right?

Hi Luke. I enjoyed your video thank you for amazing contents. I’m an IT student and it’s been a while that I work on neural networks, for example in my thesis, I’m using PyTorch library to classify some nodes in a large social network dataset. I had an intel MacBook Pro and I sold it. now I wanna buy a MacBook for doing so. As you know Apple has a back to school promotion and I could buy a 14-inch MacBook Pro or an iPad Pro besides an M2 MacBook air. Which one should I go with? The 14-inch MacBook pro or the combo (iPad +MacBook air) If I choose the M2 MacBook air is it need to upgrade the ram to 16gb or the base model would be enough. Thank you again.

I’d focus on the business problem and any change management necessary…and the algorithms last. I’d also focus on getting out of excel and into Sheets as fast as possible.

Hey Luke, I'm not from a tech background but i would like to move to Tech. Can you please guide me on this. I know there are lots of videos about it but I don't know where to start. Please help me out on this.

I have lots of experience in statistics but am just starting to learn about machine learning. When you talk about linear regression as a machine learning model, is this the same as a basic linear model from an intro stats class? I've never heard linear regression referred to as supervised learning models and I just want to make sure I understand the ML vernacular.

I also have a couple degrees in stats but long before ML was popular. I think we even had a couple classes on the topic but my takeaway was ML is just regression with a fancy label.

If you have future in a variable, you don’t need to predict it. You need the past to predict the future.

That is not how R2 is used, it is used to calculate to variation of prediction compare to variation of grouth truth, please recheck it.

I run excel in a virtual machine on my mac (using Parallels with Windows). It has full Power Query functionality this way.
