I’d recommend not screwing into plywood end grain. I’d also recommend a battery box in case that battery shorts out and BBQs you. Also, pilot holes are your friends.

I'm getting stuff together to do this now. My Tacoma is a '98 so it's smaller, but good for my short term local camping needs. This video is right on time !! Cool build !!

Nice job! You make us think about what we can do. The front compartment where your battery is could drill a hole big enough for a finger, easier to take out! Love the content of your videos!

Run a fused set of wires from your current battery to your other battery. I have a massive Cat battery in the back of my truck for backup for my camper. When you camp, you pull the fuse so it doesn't drain your main vehicle batter( alternatively you could just put a switch on the dash for it), but with the fuse in when you're driving it will charge both batteries.

It is a little tight in the tacoma bed if you are 6’0” tall or over. I think the slats would hold 2 people though.

use 3/4 plywood for the top layer if you are worried about it. I copied a buinch of this build and used 3/4 plywood for the top by 1/2" for everywhere else.

It leaks slightly in heavy rains at my feet.. not enough to be annoying though and I try not to camp in rain any way

It’s got windows and a locking latch… keeps everything out.. if some stuff gets in there though it’s all part of the adventure! Haha

I can’t even find mine on Amazon anymore.. this one would work.. I use the little round connectors MOTOPOWER MP00205A 12V 800mA Automatic Battery Charger, Battery Maintainer, Trickle Charger, and Battery Desulfator a.co/d/gzP0FIr

Killer set up did something similar forever ago looking to re-do it and add a second battery. Been looking at Kickass batteries solution but it’s costly. You just swap it out when it dies or how do you charge it?

@@S_Bonham honestly I charged the battery in April… I took it on a few trips and used that light and my usb chargers all the way through June. I charged it when I went on vacation in July, then in September … like 3 charges all year and it never died
