I think that looks absolutely awesome. My first car was a 74 super beetle and i fell in love with the old bugs and ended up building a baja later on that i wish i still had. ive never had the pleasure of driving one on the newer ones but have always wanted to.

OMG this is my dream! Not the rust part although it did turn out surprisingly well, but I have had my beetle bug for 10yrs and have wanted to turn it into an off road style beetle since day 1! You have given me so much motivation. I will be doing most of the work myself except the shocks unless I get shocks that are predone because the compression part scares the crap out of me. I just got a 2005 Beetle in lime green. 100k on it but the engine is so smooth, it’s problem was the previous owner ran over something that bent the trans pan and started leaking trans fluid. I ordered a new pan , gasket, and filter. I had intentions of building a reverse trike with a Harley engine and 6 speed trans but I’m just going to get it going clean it up and drive it till it dies then do the Harley reverse trike conversion at that time. But your video really inspired me to go in a rebuild direction Thanks brother keep up the good work.

23:36 FASTER 👍 My turbo Sport Beetle Test drive: Freeway on ramp, going through the gears, getting up to freeway speed to merge, when I got to the freeway I was doing 89 in third gear and had three gears left, those turbos are six speed. 1) thought, Yes I'm buying this car. 2) I need to be very careful not to get speeding tickets. Fast forward a little while, giving a buddy a ride through town to show off the new car, sitting at a red light lifted diesel turbo pickup truck pulls up next to us. He Revs his engine as he sees the turbo Sport on the back of the car. Light turned green, friend asked what are you doing? To be fair I'll give him a head start. I waited until he was at the crosswalk on the other side of the intersection. We passed him before he was finished crossing 🚸. My friend and I were waiting for him at the next light. When the turbo diesel truck finally caught up he was laughing. My friend asked "Was that legal?" "Zero to the speed limit, but much faster than him... Totally legal." 😉

I've had several bugs and buses from '65 to '73. Got my '65 from my sister , which she brought back from over seas. My last was a super bug. Would like to see you do an old school bug with the survivor look. You did a GREAT job on the one you have and would like to see how you do on a survivor / rat bug.

Haha. The most expensive car is a free car from Sam :) I wasn't a fan of the rust but the end project is a work of art, man. Nice. I like the boat content more in general because car KZread channels are a dime a dozen, but I watch all of them, watched this whole project come together. Sam had no idea what kind of monster he was creating! LOL.

Spoiler - 8:39 coworker didn't know about the automatic spoiler on the test drive. The sales guy who was riding with him ignored the noise so he thought it was a issue W the car. He ended up getting a non turbo. He told me this when I got my turbo sport.

You can barely go 80 mph without it shaking? Where I live the interstate speed limit is 80 mph and most people push to just under 85 mph on a regular basis. The car looks cool and there's no real reason it shouldn't be stable at 80 mph, so I'd go back through the build to see what you missed.

you never gave the exact spec on the wheels and tires you stuffed under the lift kit? can we get those specs?
