I also saw these people with that life indicator bar, which person have best social gauge with me and which person i need to improve. How to turn studying into a video game 1) get clear about everything you have to study > ( Don't let the uncertainty consume you . Know your enemy first ) 2) smaller tasks with rewards : ) ( After knowing your enemy aka course that you got to study it must seem like ' omg this is so big !" But but but break down your big enemy into smaller pieces and Destroy it day by day, little by little) 3 ) Teammates !!! ( Ofc it'll be more fun to defeat your enemy with people who also want to defeat the same enemy . So get yourself some study buddies )

As an starting youtuber, I can't even begin to understand the amount of effort devoted to create this video, from shooting, editing, animations, charts, game animation, b-rolls, etc. I hope there are like 5 or 6 people working on this, because if it's just one person doing all of it, I have a long long way to go.... Thanks for an amazing video, with great content and flawless delivery.
Such a well written video. I was a happy student in my first years of college. I was focused on learning and didn't care about the grades. I did well! Now, in my grad year, I want to get into medical school. The introduction of possible failure makes learning difficult and less fun! And I can't say it improves results.

This honestly helped so much it helped me study half of everything we took this semester in 2 weeks
the way i found working to be a favourable activity is by making that work meaningful. i regret picking the course i am on so i hate studying. but when i am in the gym i love it because i am passionate about reaching prs and getting a better body. same with working on a business; i want to achieve that goal and so when i get up in the morning its the first thing that i want to do. motivation comes from purpose.
I have honestly thought of this A LOT over the years.. like how can I dither and fuss over real-life challenges but spend months or years on certain games no problem. Really helps to see someone lay out the points that explain some of the psychology behind it. 👌
When I watch your videos, I get such big brother vibes. You're making everything sound so fun. I'm excited to study today and do it all!
Great video! I really resonated with the fact that games have clearly defined story lines but life can feel like a hot mess sometimes lol

Okay, this video is so useful since I have a math exam in 4 weeks and struggle to study for exams because of my ADHD and Autism, so thank you so much. But the part of the video which I will probably remember the most is the My Hero Acadamia reference at 8:07. Either way, this this will help me max out my studying ability. Time to defeat the final boss with the boys.

Thanks for this, it's a really cool perspective on learning. I will definitely look into applying this.
This is the most useful video i've ever watched. Thank you so much!
Here's another one: Do things you enjoy while studying, like listening to music, having snacks, or putting something on in the background, and do this consistently. It should be something that doesn't distract you from the work but is enjoyable. This strategy builds a positive association with work and makes you more willing to do the work because you know (whether consciously or subconsciously,) that you always have a good time when studying.
1. Storyline - end boss - Clearly defined goals - track your stats as much as possible to know your progress by asking or making your own tracking mechanism 2. Remove risk, loss and consequences for failure as much as possible - super mario effect - break down high risk goals into low risk high reward goals - break down into many small goals 3. Install FOMO - keep it collaborative - create study ambiance with others - create an personal reward system (e.g. daily login reward)
Really nice advices !
this was so good i look forward to implementing these tools next semester
I’m studying to become a chemistry and biology teacher and I’m struggling a lot with procrastination. Teachers are humans too. Dont judge! Sometimes I help freshmen inside the labs and noticed they are struggling too. The best advice I gave all of them so far is to map their life like a skill tree. Not just the subjects they are learning right now. Biology and Chemistry is a lot. There are majors which are just focusing on one tiny area of it! Comparing those Allrounders in my lab with one-track specialists will make your brain think you are worthless cause you know nothing at all, but in fact you know more but not as detailed. Just make sure you know what you achieved by looking at the skills you earned along the way makes you more motivated to achieve more abstract goals.
If this video isn't a good way to kickstart your new year. I really like how you explain your concept and as a gamer myself, I just love your editing style and references to the gaming world. I always thought about why I find it easy to push through a higher rank or finish an almost unbeatable boss and your video explains it wonderfully. It's that nice juicy dopamine combined with 0 risk. Thank you so much for this super high-value content. The next thing I'm gonna do is to turn my pile of pages to study into Pac-Man bite size pieces.

I love your channel! You're helping me in my study journey soooo much. Keep up the amazing work!
These are such great ideas! In using our knowledge of the addictiveness of activities such as video games and analysing the reasons for this, we can apply those principles to tasks which do seem uninviting at times, yet are truly meaningful. Probably one of the best sources of information on this topic - collating the key principles using this analogy into one concise video, also! Awesome, guys - thank you, and keep it up!
One tip I like to give as well, do NOT study in the place where you usually game. Our mind connects places with tasks such as bed = sleeping and that's why when someone uses their phone often in their bed they have higher chances of being insomniacs, because their brain sees bed = phone = awake. So if you often entertain yourself at your desk, go to another on and study there because desk #1 = entertainment.
This is a great video, thanks man!

This video explores the idea of combining the fun aspects of video games with study routines to improve motivation and learning. The video presents three key concepts from video games that make them engaging and demonstrates how to apply these as "power-ups" to enhance studying: 1. Well-defined storyline and clear objectives: Video games provide clear goals and progress indicators, unlike traditional studying. To address this, create opportunities to track your progress, such as implementing self-assessments, practice tests, or mind maps to identify learning gaps. 2. Low risk, high reward: Video games allow players to experiment without severe consequences, which encourages creativity and persistence. Break down high-risk goals into smaller, low-risk objectives and focus on learning from mistakes. This approach makes studying more manageable and enjoyable. 3. FOMO (Fear of Missing Out): Video games use FOMO to encourage consistent engagement. Leverage healthy FOMO by creating social accountability through study groups, which fosters a sense of community and competition. Additionally, implement personal reward systems for achieving study milestones. By applying these power-ups to your study routine, you can improve motivation, foster a sense of purpose and direction, and ultimately achieve a greater sense of accomplishment in your academic endeavors.

Awesome Content! 🎉 I not only want, but need this in my current endeavors: I’m enrolled in Liberty University for the Bachelor’s of Interdisciplinary Degree for Property Management, WGU for the BSN in Nursing, and UOPeople to build towards the MBA. I always knew that if I could just gamify my studies, then I would find the additional motivation power-ups to steam through it all; like a 12-hour Twitch Stream! It’s too bad that I miss the proverbial train, but I’m on the waiting list! Thank you so much for sharing! ❤
Great breakdown!
6:19 I'm addicted to Brawl Stars 😭
1. Do weekly tests of what you've learned throughout the week to make sure you're progressing 2. Everything is easier to do when there little risk involved. So instead of focusing only on your biggest goals, divide them into smaller ones. Not only to track your progress more efficiently, but also the reduce the risk involved with what you're working on 3. Get feedbacks from experienced people 4. Find a way to exploit FOMO, which is our sense of urgency, with a timer for example or some deadline you must not go over. Everyone is more productive on urgency 5. Work with a group of people simmilar to you
