Bless you Rachelle, I love that you're video isn't smooth and easy looking, because that's the reality for most people, something falling, some noise coming from somewhere, a lot of struggle, real life, Thank You.

Man. That makes me exhausted just watching you! Mad props. As a person with limited arm movement (cant straighten my arms, and they have little strength), I would be so scared of falling to the floor, or getting wedged in a position where i couldn't get back up.

You are amazing and I so appreciate this video because I am not a quadriplegic but there are times I feel like one, although I know I am luckier than most, because I came upon my injury quite by accident, as most injuries like this are... who would seriously ask for this way to live? But I am more fortunate than most because I have the financial means to pay help and lucky enough to have a family who is willing to fight for me and my best interests, my dad and children are very supportive of me and my situation, which is Carbon monoxide poisoning which damaged my brain stem making it almost impossible, so far, for me to walk, I added so far because I have not given up on that yet, there is a new to me therapist who firmly believes that I can get walk again and my muscles need re education and memory stimulation because it has been "sleeping since 2004! So this video of you transferring your self into bed gives me a lot of hope, so again I say thank you for posting this so hopefully one day I can do the same myself !

Also, I have no idea why you have any thumbs down. Because there is nothing bad about your video. It will help all quads out there. shame on those who put thumbs down.

Rachelle, I’m a T3,4,5 para son you know I’m close I have better control with my hands at least, I have found it easier to back up to the bed instead of forwards like you are. An I’m also able to slide the board under myself with one hand but I just lean to the left to get it under me. I did have a bar mounted to be bed for better ability to transfer push myself over on the bed but I grab both arms under the knees and just lay back and it brings both legs on the bed at the same time. I know different training at different centers it helpe for me. My skin on my bottom just woe out after 25 years and the doctor finally made me use a hoyer but it owes take away a lot of my independence but when I travel I still do it the same old way I was trained. I’m proud of you if you need any advice you know how to contact me.

Hi Rachelle I too am c5/6 1974 at the age of 14 I had a swimming accident. If there's any tips I could help you with... With your transfer I don't know if you can but if you keep your chair locked and close by scooping up one leg and falling back the 2nd leg follows and you can grap and swing the two together. You land on your side and pull yourself straight. Less strain. (Just make sure your knees don't come down hitting you in the head) And for the record - I myself have had many burns most from my heater :(

Spasms are really common with a spinal cord injury. It's involuntary movement that happens when you get out of your regular sitting position. Happens to a lot of people when they wake up in the morning after being in one position all night. Super annoying but in my case they don't get in the way of my daily living so I like the muscle work out

Great video! My husband is a T5/6 para since the age of 17, but unfortunately after 30 years of being pretty independent, further injury and illness means he's starting to have trouble transferring on his own. He gets onto the bed himself with difficulty, but can't get his legs onto the bed himself anymore. Big adjustments are ahead, with a power chair on the way, and a lift likely in the near future. Do what you can to stay strong for as long as possible! 💜
