Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

In this episode, I break down my techniques and react to my Cesar911 episode "Has Cesar Met His Match!"
Watch to see how I trained Target, an aggressive chihuahua!
Episode Description:
I visit a grandmother who is being terrorized by her grandson's dog in her own home.
Target, a chihuahua mix, is being labeled as a nightmare. An aggressive dog that has been snapping and biting at people. He has been creating a divide in the household, which may result in the grandson getting rid of his beloved dog...

I love your 'reacting' videos. I can learn tons just by watching little clips of the episodes (can't subscribe to any channel that broadcasts full ones here in NL). But hearing your inner thoughts is the cherry on top that completes it. I've watched target's episode a few times now as it is packed with info, but the details from your personal explanations really completed the picture. My havanese girl is (almost) perfect because of your puppy book. Thank you so much for devoting your life to this!

In my country (Finland) we walk the dogs about three times a day, unless we have a fenced backyard or a kennel, which is not typical. So, we have a lot of dogs in the cities being walked at about the same time, given people's working schedules. Now, I occasionally walk a pack of greyhounds for my friend (the oldest is a saluki and two whippets after that). All very well trained, or else I would not walk them. However, given the oldest saluki, as in the dog pack leader, has had really bad experience in his life, as in being bitten by multiple small as well as large (furry) dogs, being pierced by a branch of a push (and having to go through multiple surgeries and spent a lot of time in an animal hospital to get over that), -- this was before he was not a pack leader - as well as being in a collision with a car and suffering a collapsed lung and again a lot of animal hospital things, and the last thing, having his tail being hurt by a closing door. That door thing is about three years ago, and the saluki still does not pass a doorway without waiting us to assure him that he can pass it without the tail being squashed. So, we have an insecure dog that needs to be dominant, because he needs to protect both his pack and then also hunt...and we have a lot of city wildlife here too, as in squirrels and city bunnies. And it gets a bit confusing at times. Now, what I do, is I talk to/command the eldest saluki, when I see other dogs at his perimeter. I tell him to calm down, I tell him that I've got the thing under control, but the problem is always the threats that he does not perceive, because he's too busy sniffing the scent of a doggy bitch (he's ten but thinks he's the king of the neighbourhood for some reason). Then somebody comes from behind a corner and he alerts the rest of the pack to protect me/the pack, because that is his duty. How do I tell him that the threat is coming without telling him that it is a threat? Mind you, these dogs will flatten me, as they already have twice, if I do not see their unison attack of 'jump at prey'/threat, because I'm (still) too light to counter their power, unless I've gotten my booty very close to the ground before they jump. Now, COVID is working on the weight on my booty, so some things may help... But given my booty is up when I am legally required to pick their poo things can happen... So could you do a greyhound video?

@@Drumpro31 you couldn't have said better. I personally know one. She has a lot of diplomas and certifications, (useless) because her dogs make neat tricks. Her dogs also runoff from her and will recall half of the time, they will disregard her in the middle of a presentation, among other issues. She is the first one to say Cesar is "outdated" and violent with dogs. Yet I've seen people bring her big, misbehaved dogs that she tries to fix with "treats" she always gives up on the cases and says the dog needs interment in a special facility with someone that has the time (always gives excuses). I go with her because she has an agility track that i can use for very cheap and I'm not planning to go professional or compete with my dog. Yet she does go to competitions and always has very poor performance with her dogs, (and always has excuses, the heat, the track course wasnt well planed, it was too loud, etc). Oh but she will be the first one to insult Cesar's methods, call him dated and violent

Answering to cesar's question, if I can. Suggest some content...I would take cesar to the nearest shelter and see him check on the dogs waiting to be adopted, interact with them and give tips on the way of treating them in the cases he observes more difficult, in order to make it easier to be adopted. It will certainly move people to go for them the minute cesar appears with them and we all learn from seeing him interact... and the doggies will become a little more popular just by hanging around with cesar for a while.....please cesar make a shelter tour!!!!!!!!!!!

Bazar, the irony is that shelters are loaded with volunteers and employees who hate Cesar. They have a very unrealistic & religious view about "all positive" training. They run off a lot of good dog people with their toxic cliques and backbiting. All a volunteer has to do is say "you guys should use more of Cesar's methods" and that person will be shunned, "unfriended." I'm aware of a shelter with 1000 dogs, only 10 of which are deemed fosterable. It's a politically-correct environment, and the mindset is to let perfection be the enemy of good. It's about their ego, not what's actually happening. They'll say Cesar "hits and kicks" dogs to play upon the image of someone losing their temper, being angry/frustrated/impatient. That imagery is more important for their own religious view of training (which isn't delivering). They'll deliberately talk past people this way because they don't want to have an honest conversation (about how it's just force, not an emotion behind it. If the dog is a low energy; not out of its mind, then a light touch to get their is all that's needed. If a dog is high energy, out of it's mind, not listening, then a harder touch. That doesn't imply anger/temper even though it looks like that's what's happening. When someone talks to a person hearing impaired, it may look like they're "yelling and screaming at that person." But, it's not what those words could imply.). And then they ignore how their *choice* to be this way causes them to have fewer volunteers & fosters -- while saying it's Cesar and his people hurting dogs. It's amazing. It's like a mental illness. I knew one employee who can't be a leader to their dog. They sent the dog off for weeks of training (let someone else "abuse" the dog). It went right back to ruling the house. That person still looks down on everyone else. It's ego. It's not about the dogs. It's about the person's own sense of themselves being more of a "dog lover" than anyone else. It's not really about their dog (and their own weak leadership) preventing them from fostering dogs. They don't see the larger picture. They prefer the "us vs them" view of themselves. Good vs evil. In psychology this is called "splitting." It's a trait of personality disorders. Seeing things all good or all bad (no middle ground; can't be both at the same time). "Black/white thinking." The trait of coldly discarding people usually accompanies this. (A volunteer could do really great. But, someone learns they like Cesar, and that volunteer is suddenly no good. Unwelcome. Whispered about. Cold-shouldered. "they abuse dogs. We love dogs."). There's a much bigger problem at shelters.

In Spain he did a series just doing that. Rehabilitating or assessing dogs and finding a good owner for them. I just saw today one of the chapters and there was this lady from a shelter judging the dog and not listening to Cesar's advice... he finally got to work with it and what a change man... the lady was vicepresident of a shelter but seemed to know very little about dogs.

As usual : THE BEST !! I texted a bit ago about liking one of ur vids & got a text back (paraphrasing now) that he thought Cesar's methods were too harsh & old school ect. If he is strongly assertive it's because it's called for. Those dogs are out of control & they will either hurt someone badly, get passed from owner to owner & worst case get put down. So a little strong assertion is better than dead. Example: look what he did for Jerry Seinfeld's doxies. One was shy & was "barky" & would lunge at other dogs on a walk. He was able to take care of the problems with a little "chh". This was not a life or death issue. Cesar's rehab meets the problem CORRECTLY! It should be so easy with the people. Lol

The people who say that aren't realistic. I was all-positive for 10 years. I finally had to admit that it doesn't work with everything (every dog, problem, person). It's a good thing to strive for. Err in the direction of. But, when it becomes a religion to put others down (to build one's own self up), then it's not helping dogs. It only helps the person who needs their ego to be built up that way. Think about it. If Cesar's way was that bad, then the implication is that there's something "that good." Something that produces stunningly better results. But, where is everyone? Why hasn't someone cashed in with a multi-season tv series with 10x the episodes and viewership? If something else were really that much better, surely *someone* would have done this by now, be a multi-millionaire, and educate people on a vastly better method. At best we see people like Victoria Stillwell producing equal results (and, imo, with cherry-picked cases). That's hardly a testimony to how bad or terrible Cesar's methods are. (People like your friend will say "hit & kick" which conjures images of anger, frustration, a loss of temper. But, Cesar says repeatedly that there should be no such feelings. It's just force, enough for the dog's energy. Like the 1-10 dial on an e-collar. Or, speaking loudly to a hearing-impaired person. That's not "yelling and screaming at them."). The all-positive people really hurt dogs more than they realize. They say it's Cesar and his fans abusing dogs. But, I've seen all-positive zealots with dogs who rule the house, preventing the owner from fostering dogs (because their dog is "selective."). They discourage others from correcting their own dogs. They "out" people at shelters and make them unwelcome because they're Cesar fans. Google for Aesop's fable about "the dog in the manger." That's the personality involved with most all-positive purists. It should be called out.

I read about this in a Malcolm Gladwell book, about how Caesar's physicality is so precise in how he expresses himself, it's like he's dancing. It also shows how this grandmother prioritizes the dog, feeling more sympathy for the dog than she feels for the child. It was obvious that this made Cesar angry on behalf of the child, if the child is named Tyler. Such a deep dysfunction in the family, if this is the family.

I believe we are beginning to see and hear the depth and insight of Caesar’s innate wisdom and knowing not just about our natural world but also humanity through the amazing world of canines - showing us all how we humans are impacting it and each other. Caesar’s gentle diplomacy and awareness is stunning as he hints that it is us that creates and therefore effects the behaviour of our pooches. It is really beautiful when we can eventually see how our behaviour and mind set is impacting the behaviour of our animals and in turn the family unit and then again our community and on and on. How incredible is it when he slowly creates peace stability and unity in a family and community and how the family ‘dog’ is a magnificent catalyst and ambassador for this healing unity and oneness in our lives as they illuminate the instability fear and fragmentation in each of us - what an honour it is for us to share our lives with nature!!

I would like to see a new video where you show people how to set rules, boundaries and limitations for a dog. Because I think this is where it often goes wrong. People don't know how to stop the bad behaviour. They don't know how to set the rules and to follow through every time the dog is trying to break the rules.

Yes, it's the follow thru that most people don't understand. They think that just because they blocked or ended the situation, they are done. While the dog is still in this tense energy, and instead of getting better, they get worse.

I love the analytic approach to your previous interventions with your clients. You are very instinctual, so in the previous versions, like Cesar 911, your verbal inputs are different. I still understood what you meant, but from an analytic view point, we were missing a lot of what happened in a split second. With the analytic approach, we get the time to really analyse what is happening. Plus, you are using different words, different ways to express what you instinctually know, which is really interesting and exciting for me. I wish your knowledge could transfer in actual way of being in all of us. But somehow, it is not only knowledge we lack to become « in tune » like you are with dogs and animals. You are a wonderful human being. I wish you a long, healthy and happy life.

BRAVO. Love Cesar's perspectives on "behavior" both in animals and humans alike. Myself, our Shih-tzu Max is now 15 years of age and deaf. But well loved since he lost his partner in life Mazie two years ago. He does have issues with having my daughter's Pomeranian overnight's from time to time...and we've minimized that as well for the sake of his "peace". Max's response is usually, "Oh shit, i don't like this, so I'll try to avoid as much as possible" and just loops himself in that neurotic holding pattern. We just keep him loved and help him feel safe until my daughter's dog is actually out of the house. It's a process, but overall, even though an introvert much like his owner...he is a gem. Peace from Wisconsin! 🌱

Me and my family, a week ago, adopted a 5 mos old 3lb chihuahua (we also have a 10 year old pit mix,65lbs, who is now showing her to be a dog, not a lap/pocket/arm accessory)...the time she got here, she was fine with my 4 older kids coming into the home & out, but my hubby, she barked all the time(no agression in bark, since she would tail tuck and try to hide), so I did the finger snap and SHHH when he would walk thru the door (treats when she was quiet, when he walked thru the door)...she does NOT do that anymore...now she is excited when my hubby comes thru the door (greets, but still tail tucked but wagging), as well as other extended members of the family. I think older dogs give the insecure dogs/pups, guidance of how to handle themselves with confidence and the routines of the household.
