NEW VIDEO ON TONING WITHOUT DEVELOPER
• Updated Toned Hair Rou...
Hi there! Thanks for watching!
Don't forget to LIKE and SUBSCRIBE to my channel for more videos!
This is a method I've been using for a few years to tone my hair and I added a trick to prolong my balayage ombre/highlights by darkening my roots and melting it together! It is quick, easy, and affordable to do! The products together are roughly $20 or less (If you have a sally's members card and/or existing tools).
PRODUCTS USED:
Wella 20 Volume Cream Developer
Wella Permanent Liquid Hair Color 4A/237 Medium Ash Brown
Wella Permanent Liquid Toner T18 Lightest Ash Blonde
Mixing Bowl & Brush (You can buy a set or separately at Sally's)
Fine Tooth Comb
Rubber Gloves
If you have a dark base and you use the toner over, it will lift some color! Which can be a good or bad thing depending on your intended target. This is why I darken my roots and blend it down to avoid the unnecessary lift of my darker base.

My dark brown hair was highlighted about 2 months ago. I paid over $300 for the service and I could barely stand to look at it. I looked like a Jersey Shore wannabe with tacky, brassy highlights. With about $12, your amazing video, and the help of my boyfriend, I now have beautifully toned highlights and perfectly blended roots. You are helping thousands of women fix their botched dye jobs! Thank you for sharing this. May the hair gods bless you, always :)

Thank you for this! This happened to me a week ago! The lady did “bayalage” but I look like I have brassy blonde (that was suppose to be bronde) hair from 2002. I look like a bumble bee. Excited to get my hair fix today with this !

It is now 2020 and I’m in Quarantine, and my dark roots are definitely poppin’ lol. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART FOR THIS!
Even though your positioning was a bit off, this was one of the best hair tutorial videos! You were concise and to the point!

I’ve watched so many videos on root smudge and toning, and this by far as been the most helpful video for me as a non-professional doing DIY. Thank you! 💖
I did this and started feeling like I was doing a really sloppy job. I was scared. Well it came out beautiful just like yours! The ashy color combination and the combing was what I think makes this work so well. Thank you from the bottom of my heart 💜
I know this video is old but I just want to say thank you! I went to my stylist to get my balayage refreshed since it grew out, she left me with orange roots and orangey red highlights. My balayage colors are ash tones so this freaked me out. She put a toner and it barely made a difference. I went back a 3rd time because I couldn’t live like this and she said there was nothing she could do. I refused to believe that so I went to a different salon and this stylist, well she evened out the orange roots however she added more highlights so now I looked like a raccoon. I was left with stripey yellow/orange highlights. Sitting at home in tears with no hope left searching KZread, I found your video. I had half a bottle of wella 2n which is close to my base color, and seeing how easy your technique was, I decided to try to “melt” it. At this point I had nothing left to lose. It worked! My hair looks beautifully balayaged again! From now on I’m going to maintain my hair myself since these 2 professionals screwed my hair up. Thank you! Thank you! 💗

Next time that happens, ask for a refund! I just had a hair disaster from a "professional' but I kindly and firmly asked for my money back, and she gave it back. I needed it to buy stuff to fix my hair! All this lady was going to do it wash my hair with clarifying shampoo after she left spots all over my head, and made my hair also way too dark and red when it was supposed to be mushroom brown. My hair was all over platinum blonde and now its completely ruined!
Thank you!!!!! After going to a hairdresser twice to get that ashy toned balayage, I still had a brassy tone and this worked like a charm!
Thank you. Paid hundreds and did not get even close to what I wanted, I had orange and brass but what you’ve shared is simple and I got that brass and orange gone so my hair looks better with my natural Smokey ash roots and I’ve wanted this for over a decade so thank you so much . You’re very beautiful and your hair is amazing xx
I just want to THANK YOU for this tutorial! I did exactly what you showed here and my results are gorgeous! Finally, something that worked! Keep making videos. 🙏❤️
Thankyou so much!! 10 videos later and I found someone using actual toner instead of hair dye!!! Thankyou so much 💕
20 VIDEOS LATER!!! Ty for showing what many of us what to see and doing it quickly and properly. Ty beautiful ♥️🙌🏽

How did it turn out girls?
I've watched hundreds of videos and this is the best video simple straight to the point thank you my dear.
Thank you for this video! It saved my hair color! I paid $300 for a bad balayage..it came out brassy and too light at the top. This was exactly what I needed. I wanted to darken and blend the roots and tone my blond color. So happy with how my hair looks now!! I love how your video was simple and easy to follow!
I find those professionals are hard to understand. It was so easy to get what products I need in this one!♥️
I tried this on my way brassy roots blended into blonder hair. I used a brown toner and combed it down just like shown and it worked wonders!! I don’t have to go back to the salon just to get results I don’t like. I love my hair now thanks to you!! This technique worked amazingly! Thank you so much!!!!!
This is the best and most helpful video I've watched, and it helped me do my own hair at home perfectly! Thank you so much!!!
Short straight to the point video! Loved how you explained it…sounds manageable for someone trying this at home and your looks amazing! Thank you for posting this! ❤
Been looking for the perfect video and yours came to my rescue. I paid over $300 to get my hair cut and highlighted and I hate it. I really hope this works out for me. Love the beautiful transformation. God Bless.
I have watched so many videos and yours was the best! You ended up with professional results!
Thank you so much for the video and sharing the exact products used in the description. I went to Sally and bought all the products for $20 and tried this at home today and it worked wonders. My brunette hair had highlights that I got done in a salon but was too yellow for my liking.
You did great on the video!! And thanks for being specific on the shades/colors you used and the amounts. It’s looks great on you!!
Thank you for sharing your technique! I spent over $300 at the salon for balayage and am always left feeling unsatisfied. Followed your process and it looks so much better. 💝💝💝

I’ve been dyeing and bleaching my hair for years at home. Great technique! Love this this video!
Thank you so much Tien. I saw your video and decided to give it a try. It turned out really great. I love it and I will do it for my sister too! Thanks for your video!
This turned out so pretty. I wish I could post a pic of how gorgeous and seamless this turned out on my hair. I had to use T15 which is a beige brown but I have never loved my hair so much. Thank you so much for this tutorial🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thank you so much. It’s been the most helpful video for the toning ever I’m following you😊
Awesome!! I did exactly this and it turned out perfectly! Thank you girl!
Muchas gracias por compartir tus ideas !! Lo hice y me encantó el resultado 😍😘
I followed this tutorial and my hair came out so perfect. Thank you!
Great results. I have sharp lines from a bad balayage i got done. Gonna try this!

Beautiful blending technique!
Ty! Very easy and best tutorial! Will give it a try tomorrow 😘🥰😍
Just mind-blowingly gorgeous. I wish I had your skills! 💓

If you don't want lift with the 4A.. use a 10 vol developer it deposits only

What does that mean, deposits only
@chelseaamaureen6993
3 жыл бұрын
10 volume developer deposits only (meaning it is being added to the hair) 20, 30 and higher developer is stronger and is used for lifting color so when used for deposit only, it may lighten the hair one shade because of the strength. Hope that helps!
After watching so many videos this is the only one theT tells exactly what’s needed! Gosh! The root color it’s hard to find though Sally’s don’t have that one blue box! Thanks
Wow u're doing it faster, love the result too, nice information
This looks so good! New subscriber 💕🌸
this is a wayy better way than doing the root smudge w/ demi permanent color, it's suuuuch a nightmare & doesn't look pretty getting dark blotches on your blonde highlights. demi permanent is like straight up hair dye, where it lands it's painting dark w/ no time to wash & fade it out 😭 thank yeww!
Hands down best video out here thank you so much!💗
🤩 wow! Amazing tutorial . Thank you for sharing this video ❤
dont worry about the angle, ypu did great on this tutorial compared to the other vid I watched. geezzzz the lady just kept talking without actually coloring her hair.. lols. was borrd so i skipped and came accross your tutorial. you made it seem way too easy. will probably try it this weekend. wish me luck!
Thanks so much for this - really clear.
I'm trying this tonight! Sally's is open for curb side pick up! Woohoo thank you
Great video u explained exactly what I needed to know ! Thanks 😁
Thank you for sharing I think I’ll try this on my hair So pretty:)
Thanks for this video! I'm going to try this process on my hair. I just bleached my roots all the way to my scalp after letting them grow out about 2 inches with my natural ash brown color which now has more grays than ever before. Lol! I was going to try and live in a full blonde for a while, but now think I want to do a root melt like yours and then tone down my length.
Wow! Thanks you save me a lot of money!!! Blessings to you 🙏
Thank You!! Even tho my hair is different in color and texture, your technique is the bomb!
It came out great! Thank you!
Bomb!! Exactly what I was thinking to do to mine ;) thank you ;)
Best video ever explaining how to color melt ..thx
Fantastic tutorial,thank you! 👍🏻❤️
Thanks! It worked...you save my hair!!
Easy video to follow, and on that note I’m now headed to the beauty supply store and start this fabulous hair dying process! Thank you for this tutorial & btw your hair looks amazing!!!

How did it turn out?
Good job! looks great!
Great video! I plan on doing my hair like this soon but do you think it’s still ok to use the wella 4A/237 to color melt if my roots have grown out about 2-3 inches? We have similar hair colors but mine is grown out more
Thank you so much, I spent $400 trying to get this color and all I got was ugly yellow hair I was very disappointed. Going to try this tomorrow :) at this point I have nothing to lose lol

I paid $200 for my daughters root touch up & toner and it looked awful too! Came home and did it myself using Wella toner and it came out gorgeous!
You got me to subscribe on this one. Very helpful video!
I need to try this asap!!!
Love that color
Perfection. For the roots, you used the whole bottle and how much developer did you actual do? I have the same length of hair you have. Do I pour the developer into the bottle only one time? I’m going to buy this now. Let me know. Ty this is one of the BEST hair tutorial
how far down do you bring the comb with the dye? all the way to the ends of your hair or do you stop earlier? Couldn't really tell...results look amazing!
This really was useful to me 👍
Beautiful! Looks professional. I have some T11 (pale beige blonde) and I think I’m going to do a 7a (medium ash blonde) on my roots since my hair is pale pale platinum blonde!! Thanks! I’ve read not to use permanent hair dye on the roots as a root shadow or root melt...but yours turned out gorgeous. How does it fade? Is it pretty much like the beginning of the video? I thought that looked good too; no harsh lines! Thanks!
Looks really good.
You made what I’m trying to do so easy best video! Question?!?! Did you wash out the 4A then put the toner? Or did you put on back to back and then just wash one time?
AMAZING THANK YOU! Is the 4n color a toner or a demi? I need to fix a bad dye Job and I want to use a subtle color for the roots
I spent over $200 for a balayage that I hated..it looked like she just used bleach without toning it..i didn't have time for her to fix cause it was my nephew's wedding...I ended up not going and cried all day cause I hated my hair so much..I can't wait to try this on my shit hair today girl. Thanks!
This color works well!
Note... Use the bottle of color to measure the developer instead of pouring.
❤❤ great job
Wow looks gorgeous! New subbie!
10/10 thank you!
ang galing mo po sissy. love your hair too
Wow!!lovetttt!
Med as brown toner. I will try. I been looking for a toner just to lift my black root without using any kind of bleach. Thank you
Beautiful, looks like a salon
