Hi Ropsie, a real tutorial video would be highly appreciated since the application is very complex and there is nowhere a useful tutorial or documentation. I had hoped this video could be it. Most of your other videos are full of information and straight to the point. This one is the complete opposite. It‘s not helpful to see you doing the same stuff over and over again and getting no additional explanation.

Hi Ropsie As an old French guy passionate of digital tech, I am amazed to see how much you can do learning your médecine courses with tons of digital books, pdf editing tools, mind mapping (tried mind map several times but not convinced ...) . Have you ever thought about how your father professors made their studies with paper books and notes ? The evolution is incredible and that amaze me every day even if some utilize tech for the worse. Thanks for showing us practically how you take advantage of it ... with good music as a bonus. Hopefully that does not adversely affect my blood pressure 😀! Have fun always Regards Erick

Bonjour, Erick! I hope your blood pressure didn’t suffer too much from my music 😬. I used paper for most of my life! And I always found it limiting and taking up too much space! Which is why I welcomed the change when technology introduced it!!! I am realising that a lot of people struggle with getting organised. So I am working on that to help explain how I stay organised. 😃 hope it will help

Thank you very much Ropsie! Marginote is the main app I use for university, but there are so many possibilities in the use. I’m happy to see how you use it to study or go through the material. One day I’d love to have an overview of your whole workflow. Personally I have the problem of feeling « scattered » through all the apps I use (goodnotes, MarginNote 3, notability and now also: note always). Im realizing more and more it’s a tough balance between being through, efficient, having structure in the workflow, and most of all, constance. (Phew... long message. Illustrates why I admire your apparent efficiency). Anyway thanks a million.

I had narrowed it down to GoodNote and Noteability, with leanings towards GoodNote 5. However I came across this and am a bit confused. Are you switching from GN or NA to this Margin Notes app? I mean with the others you an bring in PDF's and notate them right? Are you replacing them with this...or is there something intrinsically different on Margin Notes from those other two note apps I've seen so many videos you've done on...? Thanks in advance!! CC

Also, not sure if I just haven't found the feature yet, but it seems to be that exporting the PDFs actually makes them lose their outlines/original highlights etc.? That such makes it viewable to other PDF readers? The sad part is that Liquidtext does this ok, but Marginnote doesn't D: Thanks for the vids btw! Hi, Paperless Student. I've found out that Marginnote is unable to search through hidden text under the OCRed font. (A scanned textbook with invisible text information behind the image so that you can select text from the image) However, there's no problem selecting text from the pdf. i.e, I can underline, strikethrough, copy and do whatever I want with the text. But suruprisingly Marginnote cannot search any text. Is it just me? Are you aware of this issue?

I don’t understand a thing you just said 😬 please explain. Are you saying MarginNote 3 can’t search through scanned PDFs? Mine can. Unless if it stopped last night. 🤔

Just my confusion I guess. I couldn't search words on global search so I thought Marginnote was not capable of searching hidden texts. Apparently, search only works per document.

I tried to use it and i hate it. I used it on macOS not iOS and it is so weird and uncomfortable. It starts with proper file handling, bibliographic features (what i'm expecting when i see built in support for Google Scholar) and this mindmapping is absolute distracting from effective note taking. I have to say i read a lot about mindmapping and never understood why this is better then simple writing unless you are really only showing some topological term relations. But not for ideas or facts. Tons more to say, but i have no time and i would blame Apple too much because so much badness is just coming from Apples restrictions and it would come from a more professional use case. Not sure if this is already wrong for me by concept. Margin Notes origin lies in simple flash card education usage.

Eric Maina I bought many apps. In every app some features are missing. In this app, cloud service was not working properly and not all cloud services are there and while see the edited pdf everything was shown hide. This makes me frustration. And it takes more space. If she says the negatives then it will be useful for users. Instead of simply buying it will save money to the needy people. That’s why I said students.
