Great video, and as a business we do import direct from the far east too. But where we can buy things made in the U.K. or EU even if it’s more expensive we do every time. The quality of U.K. and EU made stuff is far superior. And I found it’s easier to do business with them and they look after you. And I think the biggest problem we have (The West) over the last 60 years is people moving production to the far east. Just because we can make a saving should we really do it? I know you have a rule relying on one customer for income. Do you have the same % rule on relying on one country for goods? I know you source products from multiple countries. Is that a strategic move? Just food for thought…really enjoying your content and podcast. I’m one that consumes both! 😊👍🏻

Alibaba is great. They're also always willing to negotiate on price either on goods or shipping obviously if you're poliet ect. Also lots of items which have a low MOQ too for start ups like 100 items ect. Great videos as always! :)

Great Video James. Stopped bringing materials over due to covid and price of shipping, but all guns blazing now. Windows, kitchens, electrical Sockets lights etc. all construction materials. Been going to Canton for last 12 years and found it ideal for sourcing. And checking before loading has saved face lots of times. I absolutely love the Chinese factories attitude to doing business. There’s no 9-5

Great video. I export food products. I am relatively new in the industry. I don't have ready capital so i work as a middle man to facilitate orders. This way i am leveraging by using buyers money and making deals. But also making contacts and identifying products that work. Great way to start with less risks.

It's around £1200 now for a 40ft HQ from China, though can depend on the port. On the VAT front, if you are VAT registered for VAT, check out the Postponed VAT scheme. You no longer have to pay the VAT on import.

I did elude to the postponed vat scheme - just thought it was too complicated for this video. We’re hitting the 1200£ but we never want to overstate.

I reckon the t…ts in Westminster might even give you a tax break for bringing in all this garbage, because soon there will undoubtedly be a charge to go to the local tip. • @JamesSinclairEntrepreneur

No I can’t do that. That rating is not something we are at all proud of, we bought that business just a few months ago knowing that it was in its situation, our team which run multiple sites with 5 star ratings are putting in the processes to make sure that never happens again. We even have full SALSA ratings at our factory which is far superior. This inspection was done months ago and it’s something we are addressing at full speed. Thanks for your comment; I appreciate the support

James that is such a perfect response and echo’s the values that I try to apply in business. No hiding, total honesty and openness and a resolution promised. Humbleness at the end and a thank you that closes the dialogue brilliantly. I was presenting to some customers a few days ago and did just this and was questioned on if it was the correct approach, I never doubted myself but this has validated my tack and I thank you for that Sir!

There are some ethical questions every importer has to ask themselves beyond the bottom line. We all know the questions. One combined question is, "Does importing help me love my neighbor and God?"
