How I Set Up the Minelab Manticore

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video I help set a customer set up his new Minelab Manticore. We go over how to Pinpoint with the Manticore. We also go over how to tell between iron & trash and good targets with the Manticore.
This is an instructional video for beginners.

good video but the only way to really learn what a signal or sound is, is to dig everything. Also I like to mention that if you hold down the noise cancel till it settles one number it works better for EMI

Thank you for this video. I have been struggling with the Manticore and this video has helped me understand more of why it does what it does. The part about reading the 2D really helped me understand it better. Thanks again.

some of those tones you didnt bother checking could have been masked coins.

I agree most good targets missed or left behind are going to be iffy unless you're on untouched ground

Hey, I totally understand what you are getting at and agree with you. I am an extremely slow and careful detectorist, far slower than most I see. However, the audio I'm hearing is far different than what you can hear in the video. I can easily tell the difference between a nail and a coin because the Manticores audio is so rich and subtle. In this video I was helping a customer who had never metal detected before. I was trying to show him how to listen for those subtle differences and use all the tricks to help him avoid digging iron. He is an older gentleman and his body cannot take digging every signal. Also, the wonderful thing about these expensive new machines is they are designed with discrimination features that help us to better differentiate trash targets so we don't have to expend so much energy digging trash and we can get more good targets. If I wanted to dig every signal in the ground because I was afraid of missing something I would just use a pulse detector or a cheaper VLF. I love that the Manticore can help our older clientelle do what they love for longer without having to hurt their bodies. My intention is to help them continue to be able to do that:)

What would be the negatives of leaving ground balance tracking on?

In my experience there are none. Minelabs engineers have specifically stated not to manual ground balance in multi-frequency on this machine. I would love to pick their brains more about that statement.

@@Nwdetectors You talk rubbish, ground tracking is a big no no in iron infested areas as the machine will track to the iron and then you miss good targets.. Bad advice is a lot worse than no advice...

So much very bad advice from these so called experts, 95% of these youtube celebs have little to know knowledge of the machine its all about subs and likes free machines and free gear. There not interested in helping anyone because anyone with experience can see there mistakes in there settings and what they say.. 🙄

@@martinsmith2984 I agree I see a lot of people who give out bad advice. I do not claim to be an expert, I don’t believe I said that anywhere in the video. I don’t monetize my videos, nor do I offer free gear. What I do offer is my free time, to any customer or non-customer who asks for my advice or help, and that is what I did here. I travelled to a customers home to help him out with his machine. I have been detecting 13-years and my boss has been detecting over 20 years. We are master Minelab dealers and we get our information directly from the top Minelab engineers. The head of Minelab engineering specifically told us to not ground balance and leave auto tracking on. I have been very successful with my setup, I don’t use discrimination as you can see I like to use my own discernment and hearing to discriminate my targets. The wonderful thing about sharing knowledge is that every perspective is different and we don’t need to be negative to each other when we have discussions about our subjective experiences and opinions. I love to share what I know from my education and experience in this field. People can take it and try it, compare it to others advice, and make educated decisions about how they want to run their machine from their own experience.
