I have acne like yours and when I go to school i always wear foundation, but even with foundation you can still see my big pimples and acne.I hate when people says to me "If you stop wearing foundation, your skin gets better,or "Why don't you wash your face?" Etc...They make me feel so depressed, because everyone in my school has a perfect skin and I feel different.

Unfortunately, people who don't suffer through tough acne think they know what they're talking about, just because they get a few pimples once in a while. Hormonal acne has little to do with topical products, and more to do with internal issues with our bodies. Our bodies and hormones change constantly over time. Have hope, and don't lose faith in humanity. There's a lot of ignorant people out there, but also a lot of supportive ones too ♡

Wearing foundation actually helps me control all the oil. When I don't wear makeup I get so oily it's rediculous, and then I break out from it.

I love Hachiko I'm really sorry that you have to deal with people being rude. I had bad acne for about 9 months and I still remember how insecure it makes you feel even with a ton of concealer on. The two products that helped my skin SO much are aloe vera & witch hazel- I would highly recommend them since they're both natural and gentle on the skin! (Aloe is also a good primer in my opinion- it fills in pores and soothes irritation while creating a barrier between your skin and makeup; it also doesn't clog my pores)

Girl I can 100% relate to that I have bad acne too and all of my friends have that freaking great clear skin and I'm wearing foundation to school like every day and question like "did u try to use something to clear your acne" or "did you know u have many pimples on your face" just pissed me of like YES I CLEARLY DO KNOW and yeah what I'm trying to say with telling you about this is that you don't have to be depressed and sad about yourself because you are beautiful and other peoples opinion is not important just ignore them they obviously don't know what it's like

Think about this: What is your reaction when you see someone else with acne? Do you think to yourself, "That's disgusting!" or "That person is dirty!" ? Chances are, when you see someone else with acne, you tend to either notice it and not give it a second thought, or you tend to overlook it all together. If people were to see you without makeup, pure skin exposed, I can promise you it would be the exact same scenario. One tip I learned to overcome that fear is to start wearing less makeup in places that I don't visit regularly (for example; the beach, a new class in college, maybe shopping at a mall in a different city)... No one will know you in those places, and it'll really give you a chance to express yourself without feeling the need to hide behind a mask. I hope what I'm saying will encourage you to at least think differently about your skin. This is all coming from someone who has had severe acne since I was 11, and am now going on 24😅

Britt S. Whenever I see other people with acne (especially younger children) I feel like I just wanna hug them or something because I feel like I know what they're going through, even if I don't. I've had pimples since I was 8, and by the time I was 11 the 'pimples' (COMODONAL ACNE) was bordering on severe. I'm thirteen now and while my friends are just starting to break out (and insist that they have REALLY BAD ACNE when they have legit 1 pimple) my skin is getting better. But for some reason I feel like I'm getting worse, because all this time I kind of ignored my skin and told myself it was nothing because I thought there was nothing I could do about it, and now that it's clearing up I realise how disgusting I looked, for so long. Sorry for talking about myself the whole time. I just felt the need to say that since you said you were 11 too 😅

I’ve gone almost a whole month without makeup and my skin is the exact same. Don’t listen to people who say that’s all you have to do because chronic acne requires SO much more than that. You’ll find what works for you one of these days! Don’t give up!

Alexa Johnson-Roach I used to wear makeup every single day because I was super self conscious about my acne and everybody always told me “if you wouldn’t wear makeup your skin would get better.” Well, I hardly ever wear face makeup now (haven’t worn it much for about 2 years now) and I STILL HAVE ACNE!! I wish people would understand that acne can be caused my so many other things than wearing makeup.

  • @Volleylexa

Sarahhh Beth it can get really frustrating. My skin has so many ups and downs whether it’s from hormones, allergic reaction, irritation from something I ate or drank, and so many other factors. People who don’t suffer from that constant back and forth fight with their skin don’t understand that it’s not just one thing and then, like magic, you’ll wake up with clear skin. They don’t understand that concept because they don’t wake up with a firey red face every morning wondering how the hell they went wrong the day/night before. It’s a process.

True, I understand that it may not work for you, but it might be a good idea to try it and see if it works. When I was a teen I had bad acne (not cystic, but it was quite bad and those were one of the most depressing times of my life) and I'm never one to care about my looks, or wear makeup as I liked just to be natural. But it got so bad that I started wearing makeup to cover it up and I felt masked by this other person and wearing this makeup made my acne considerably worse, it's just a cycle. So I decided to stop wearing it and it got so much better but also I improved my skincare routine and diet to improve my acne bc I wanted to fix it as I could see it 24/7 instead of ignoring my problems. But this won't work for everyone, and probably not for ppl with bad or cystic acne because acne can't get that bad from just makeup.

  • @Volleylexa

    @Volleylexa

Chessa Is Lit I agree with what you’re saying. There is a lot of makeup out there that can and will make your skin look considerably worse if you already suffer from acne or even if you have clear skin, so it could definitely be PART of the problem if you have severe acne and are trying to cover it all of the time, but typically the main problem lies somewhere in your diet or with certain ingredients in face wash or moisturizers. Even exercise can effect your skins appearance, so finding the right balance of everything can get EXTREMELY difficult and it’s frustrating when you’re trying and people seem to think that they know better than you and tell you to “just stop wearing makeup”

It’s comforting to know that there is someone out there who ACTUALLY understands what’s it’s like to live with acne.. what it feels like to not be able to just wake up and go get a coffee without first putting on some kind of coverage.. or postponing plans with friends because you don’t want them seeing how bad your face is at the moment.. I teared up when you shared the part about not leaving your house for multiple days because of your acne, because I too have refused to go out when even foundation can’t help. Thank you for being one of the few who are strong enough to let the world know about your acne in order to help the rest of us who have similar skin issues, I and i know a lot of others really appreciate it ❤️❤️🙏🏼

People posting videos like you make me feel so much better about myself. I love seeing REAL skin. I have developed such bad anxiety surrounding my acne and scars. It has made me socially isolate myself. Right now makeup is what makes me more confident. Sometimes I wish I could feel like I don't need it but I'm just not there yet. What helps me is to think back to this one moment in my local Walmart. I wasn't wearing any makeup and just wanted to go in and out because I felt so ugly. I noticed a kid was kind of following me around. Eventually this random boy, about 10 years old, ran up to me. He told me I was so beautiful and gave me a hug. Then he just ran away. I wanted to start bawling in the middle of shower curtains lol. That moment will stay with me for the rest of my life. Anyway, keep doing you. You're lovely!

Also...people ask or mention wearing or not wearing makeup to exacerbate acne. When I had mild acne in high school, I definitely noticed that I would have more breakouts whenever I did NOT wear makeup. Idk why. I feel like makeup was protecting my skin from pollutants and kept my oily skin in check. When I didn’t use makeup, my skin was a hot mess.

Oh really, I had the opposite. When I started wearing makeup for a short amount of time, my acne got so much worse.Plus I hate the look of makeup on my face haha.If you're struggling with skin oiliness, im with you bc my skin is SO oily, what worked for me is in the mornings I put on the ordinary's nicinamide and zinc and then some moisturiser after it dries (otherwise it will pill if you put it on straight after).Nicinamide really reduces sebum production and my skin is still a bit oily ofc, but takes longer for oil to build up throughout the day and you will get less acne due to oil.You could do that if you didn't want to wear makeup :-)

If you are considering accutane , but are afraid of the effect on your mental health, I suffer from depression and anxiety as well and I didn't feel anything special. For almost ten years I used to have my whole back and chest covered with huge painful cysts. I also tend to have problems with oral medication, I mean I'm allergic to everything from Advil to aloe, I've tried everything, nothing worked so I tried accutane, just 20mg a day and it was so relieving to see my skin slowly healing, I only had dry skin and chapped lips. Two years later my skin is still clear and I have no health side effects. I absolutely respect your decisions, I just wanted to share my experience. I was really afraid to take accutane because of the same reasons as you and everything was fine. I used to spend so much time every day thinking about my appearance and what are other people thinking when they see me. Now I can go outside with no make up on without watching myself in every reflective surface or talk to people without thinking that all they see when they look into my face is my acne.

@@jessromo1492 No I didn't. I've noticed that most people who were talking about those scary side-effects were taking a really high dosage - 40- 60mg a day! But my dermatologist told me (I live in EU) that the most recent research shows, that taking smaller dosage for longer period of time is both much more effective and dramatically lowers the risk of heavy side effects. Actually when she was deciding what dosage to prescribe me she asked me for my height and weight (165cm/55kg) and she told me that 30mg would be the highest dosage she would give somebody like me, but she thinks its an unnecessary risk. So when I see all those tiny girls on youtube on 50mg a day with back ache and hair falling out I'm not very suprised...

hi, i got off accutane about a month ago after being on it for about 6 months, my acne was also just as bad as her and it cleared up very nicely. @@rebecalima2008 Yes I did/still do, I don't think one can expect having absolutelly flawless skin afterwards, accutane reduces your sebum production to zero, but only for the time you are taking it. I got really scared when I saw a few pimples appear here and there on my back again, but it never got any worse than that and I never get any cysts anymore. Concerning my face, I got super freaked out after I stopped taking accutane because I got some small bumps on my forehead- turns out the eczema I used to have around my nose has simply moved into my hairline. What I mean by that is, that my skin is quite different from what it used to be (oily>dry), not worse by any means, just different and it took me some time to understand that it does no longer like what it used to. When I adjusted my skincare accordingly, it balanced out again and now it looks really nice. Unfortunately, not everyone's case is going to be like that and I should probably mention that my acne wasn't hormonal, which tends to be the case when it comes back.

You made a great point about people with terrible acne needing videos like you do to show us how to cover our acne. I watch videos with girls who have flawless skin and it’s cool but unhelpful. I just wanted to tell you how awesome it is and how much better it makes me feel to watch your videos and see someone who relates to having terrible acne. My scarring is really bad, so my skin is uneven and it makes me really insecure. I’m doing microneedling but it’s an extremely slow process. And the fact that you’re a Christian just magnifies my love for your videos!!! Thank you so so so much for all you do and say! God bless💕

I got into fights with alot of people at my school because of their rude remarks (like oh i bet you eat alot ot chocolate or nobody’s gonna marry you with ur skin like that). They dont even bother to understand that acne can be caused by medical issues and genetics. Anyway, wishing you all the best! I hope we all find whats best for our skin.💗🌸

loved this video so so much, i love listening to other people’s opinions on personal subjects like religion, depression, anxiety because it opens up outlets that not everyone likes to touch base on and as a community it makes us feel more like family! but a small food for thought, with your skin tone i think if you used a more beige bronzer rather than a yellow undertone it’ll make your makeup come together even more :) try the too faced chocolate soleil bronzer in light medium! ♥️

Girllll I feel you!!! Im turning 28 in feb! And I just barely got rid of my acne with birth control, its been about 8 months without it, and im truly so thankful. You will eventually find something that works for you, dont lose hope. I tired everything! Diet, blood work, supplements, products, etc and nothing! Birth control was literally the only thing that worked. I never considered taking it bc I never wanted to use it, I was scared and im still scared if I ever go off of it, but im just grateful to only wake up with one or two pimples, having a face full of acne put me in depression, all I can say is. Keep fighting, keep trying something, something will eventually work. I wrote this long ass message bc I felt exactly how you felt, depressed and hopeless. I started to think nothing will work and I was never going to wake up with a clear face.

I just want to say that I think you’re beautiful and I can tell you’re a beautiful person inside too. I have personally struggled with acne as well and know how big of an impact it can have on your confidence, but without the acne you wouldn’t have learnt from some struggles that you’re going through (which you still will) and you wouldn’t be as inspiring as you are now. Just remember people will love you for who you are as a person, not what you look like. And those who are insensitive don’t deserve to be around you. So wear your heart on yours sleeve, be strong and I promise everything happens for a reason. It will clear up and at the end of it all you will be strong, able to help those struggling, a super kind and caring person and glowing from the inside out. You have got this and we all love and support you ❤️❤️ do what makes you confident even if it does mean wearing foundation when people say you shouldn’t. I’ve found natural products work the best for my skin & drinking heaps of water. You should try vitamin B tablets, witch hazel morning and night and some of the dermalogica skin care (if you haven’t already) xoxo

I really do feel for you and understand exactly what you are going through. I had cystic acne, pretty much exactly like yours. Most of mine around my jaw and chin and T-zone area. It was all due to hormonal issues pretty much, probably my diet consisting of some animal products too. I also react odd to most medications , and have always been super sensitive to most antibiotics (I was allergic to most of them lol). It was awful. I was so depressed and had no energy or desire to hangout with people or leave my house. My uncle who is a dermatologist saw me struggling FOR YEARS and had put me on countless antibiotics (that did nothing typically), and finally recommended accutane to me. It changed my skin. COMPLETELY. I was on it four about six months, and it changed my mental health and changed my entire skin chemistry. It's been around a year since I have been on it- and I still break out but not nearly as bad. Now I have one pimple instead of twenty. It changed my life . I know how you feel, I HAVE been where you are. I would really recommend you at least trying accutane. I rarely comment on youtube videos but I just feel like I needed to say this. Thanks for reading. And for anyone else considering accutane, I really recommend it. It is worth every single shitty side effect, trust me.
