Let me share with you how I preserve my yams. This is a good way to ensure that your yams don't end up rotten and also allow you to buy and save yams when they are in season to save some money.

You answered every single question I had about freezing yam and options for cooking yam from frozen. I got in my car, drove to the African store and confidently bought lots of yams to preserve.     Learnt something today, on how to preserve yam with salt (oxidized) to prevent discoloration. Was actaully thinking about how to preserve yams , was going to google it, but didn't get round to doing that before i came across your channel today. Good job and GOD bless.

    I tired this salt thing and it worked like magic. I didn't sprinkle it though, I out the salt in the water that I used to wash the yam. Awesome. Thanks for that lesson

    This is a very great tip for me especially as it's quite difficult to find certain local food's where I find myself. As for the ampesie at the end de3 I almost pulled it out of my screen. Thanks for the tip boss♥♥♥

    You can also steal the Yaw and it tests deloius. Also i tend freeze my yaws all together and most they separate when you really to cook them

    I have never made yams before. my hubby is from ghana and I'm sure he would love it. I will have to try it! I have mastered a few ghanaian dishes but yam I have yet to explore!

    He will most likely like fried yam. We typically just boil it and have it with some stew or soup.

    Mine have all discolored, I feel discouraged but this tip is helpful. Was thinking of per boiling before storage but the salt thing is a must try.

    I also add an extra step of drying the washed yam on kitchen paper before freezing and they don't stick together in the bag

    Great tips and the salt does help. Wow, that was a bargain price you paid. I estimated that it would cost about £70 or more for that amount of yams in the UK. 😊

    Oh wow that's so expensive - that's like £14 per large yam. I never knew yams were so expensive - I guess cause I compare them to potatoes as another starchy vegetable and they're super cheap
