    Mike, I really appreciate your definition of meal prep. It's more akin to restaurant style and how I prefer to do it -- prep some ingredients, sauces, or flavor bases and then use them to bring meals together faster when it's time to eat throughout the week. Would really love more of that kind of content. Thanks for redefining meal prep to not mean 21 bowls of the same slop in the fridge.

    I would love future content on all the decision making that needs to happen in order to execute this. Before the video started, there had to have been a bunch of decisions to make about what dishes to make, and also what ingredients to have on hand. Do you wake up in the morning, look at the fridge and pantry, and decide? Do you decide the night before? Did you do a grocery run a few days earlier aimed to ensure you would have a fully stocked kitchen for this? I would love a deeper dive into what it takes to be able to walk into the kitchen and know what you are about to do.

    fully agree, id also love to see a video about this i am so bad at planning my meals ahead of time bc i get overwhelmed by the amount of choices that involves. and without a planning phase, the prep phase ends up taking way longer than it needs to. or ill forget a crucial step/ingredient bc im trying to do every phase at the same time

    There is less planning as you might think. He is not planning this out the night before. He has seasonal food that can be combined to make meals. He had blueberries bevause their in season, so ... pancakes with bb. Chicken. Spices. A kick ass garden. And viola. A meal. People sometimes ask me, what are you having for dinner? My answer? Beats me. I'll figure it out when I get in there. It's why he says he's going to the fridge on a, what was it, a scavenger hunt.

    As a cooking instructor, I wish all food influencers would set a good example and rinse their produce before chopping it. As already mentioned, it was also obvious he did not wash the raw chicken off his hands before touching other things. I see so many of my students do this and I do correct them. But when they see food influencers not stick to good hygiene, they receive conflicting messages. These extra steps take time, but they are the right thing to do. My comment is not intending to take away from the fantastic content you put out. I am an avid follower! 😊

    if your students do not understand that the food videos they watch are 1) edited to remove boring parts and 2) self-filmed, meaning the creator has to manually set up a tripod for each shot, those are probably concepts you should introduce to them. i never for a single moment assumed this guy would set up an entire separate shot of his sink just to capture a hand washing shot, there is a clear cut between the overhead shot of him touching the chicken and the side view shot of flipping the pancakes.

  • @dopce6018

    @dopce6018

    10 ай бұрын

    @@mere0 the thing is not that he needs to show that he washes hands, but if you notice when he puts the chicken in the pan, it is not edited and he touches to stove with the same hand. we all know chicken is one of the few things that is bery dangerous raw :) we can only assume that everytime he touches the knob after that, he doesn't wash his hand afterwards, like because the knob is contaminated even if he washes his hands after that one shot

    Roasted vegetables are the best! You can also take the cauliflower stems and leaves, chop in 1 inch pieces, drizzle with oil and your choice of spices and roast them as well, ( if you dont care for any burnt pieces, remove the leaves earlier than the rest). I realized that I had been throwing some much delicious edible food away for years. I hope this idea helps someone! Have an awesome day!

    I do something similar. I buy those huge chubs of 90/10 burger from sams. Break it down into 2 pound zip bags. Once a week i fry up a bag of hamburger and 2 onions. Its in the fridge for tacos, pasta, undone bierocks(my fav), mixed in eggs, gravy, stews. Just everything. Just having that 2 to 4 pounds of already cooked and onioned meat ready make cooking a real snap. And i can do it while i was dishes in a big pot. Add a little water and use that great star shaped ground meat tool. Let the onions and meat kind of boil/steam then as the water evaporates you decide how much water to leave in for reheating. It low fat and you can preseason it how you like. Same with hard boiled/steamed eggs. Just have 6 ready for salads, sides, snacking. I also buy cole slaw mix. Yes i know i could cut it up myself by buying a small head of green cabbage, red cabbage and carrots and vacuum pack it myself. But why? In my Walmart the 2 pre-done vacuum packed fresh slaw mix is about the the same price as the heads of cabbage. Then you have to get the carrots. Then you have to spend more time peeling shredding, cleaning up and still have leftover food you may or may not get eaten. So wasting food and money. For my household it's better. So for my beirocks bowls i just dump the hamburger/onion mix in a pot put the package of fresh slaw mix in with a little water to steam the veggies, season and done. I can have that for lunch all week.

    You can get a tolerable consistency using younger plantains instead of flour. They will get soggy with syrup, so I add cinnamon, cayenne pepper and a pinch of sugar in with the batter, and just add butter later

    Mike, love your stuff but can you please mention the washing of hands in between the handling of raw chicken and other foods, and washing your produce to remove any toxic stuff. Know for most people this is well known and common sense, but newbies in the kitchen may not be aware.
