As a graphic Designer I must learn drawing and I started around 5 months ago now I can draw very good, In my opinion everyone can draw but drawing need. it depend on how match time do you spend, I learned by myself and my suggest is this always work hard and practice.

I have a story to share for all of you trying to do better at portraits. I am one. Also a fine art student. I always liked to draw anime and comic characters with a lot of feel and beauty in their expressions. So far I was happy thst i was able to draw proportionate portraits with slight resemblance. But then my teacher,.... just ruined my self esteem with constantly nagging at my portrait style since I do not enjoy hyper realism and try to make creative characters out of the references. Im having a hard time getting back to being creative again. For all u artists there, portrait art also has its own unique style and art is not about cut pasting the reference. Do your study. Keep in mind the proportions. But don't let your style slip away from you.

omg😭 randomly reading comments and i saw urs, this is literally my situation rn and i find it hard and don’t have the energy to go back drawing again. I enjoy drawing pero i can’t draw without a reference, also when it comes to portrait i tend to make the drawing different from the reference. I’ll take note of ur advice, thankyou!

What he said is actually so true! When i first started drawing i always wanted to do the best out of the best i never accepted me doing a MISTAKE and was so stressed over how i wasn't improving even tho i know what i want to do, but then when i started drawing small drawings and gave my self the chance to do mistakes and fix them it was actually a good help and i improved so much more, don't start with expensive materials or anything, cuz then u will feel bad if u do mistakes on them (well if i wasn't the only one who feels like this when it happens) instead start with a cute sketch book and explore all ur skill and see what u can do and can't, and start by learning step by step and don't ever think of skipping any steps, u need to go through it all to be the artist u want

As much as I am amazed by hyper realistic drawings, or impressed by them.. I really enjoy the simple creativity, and style that comes from one's own interpretation of a portrait. I really like your style of portraits, clean, and I think it reflects your character as an artist. A part of me feels it is more creative then an exact perfect copy of a portrait. Again not to say that is not amazing because it is! I really like your style of sketch portraits though 👍 legit
