This is the very first time I’ve heard someone actually describe how they make a living in this untraditional way. This is a great road map for people looking to seriously get into photography as a career. This was very generous of you.
Dude the fact that you share all of this personal details about your life with such transparency is admirable af!💯. Respect homie!

Hi Roman! Thanks a lot for this video, really interesting! I quitted my employee job 3 years ago and managed to do roughly what you want to achieve (travel, photography, putting different sources of income together) from another field that photography. I liked your point of view and liked to see another way to reach this beautiful life goal! I definitely would love to see your progression on this journey. It's the first video I saw from you and suscribed straight to your channel :) Keep it up, cheers!
Really useful video mate thanks! I'm wanting to eventually take photography and videoing further and it's been handy seeing what it's like for you. More videos like this would be great. Hope your feeling better man!
Mate, super useful video! Always great to hear about business-related topics in the photography space! Hopefully, the travel thing will work out for you!!!🙏🏼❤️
Awesome video, brother. Breaking down the business is very real and provides a lot of value.
Good luck and all the best! Thanks for sharing.
Hi Roman, truly appreciate you for sharing your ideas so openly. 🙏
Good stuff man, thanks for the straight talk
Great insight and genuinely wishing you every success! Travel photography will definitely come back to the forefront moving into 2022 and beyond I’m sure.
This was incredibly helpful man-sheesh thank you so much for being so transparent 👍
Great stuff, learning a lot from you!
Excellent video. I'm really interested to see how it goes. Its a very brave decision to go into this now given the environment. I've been a fan for some time so I'll be for sure rooting for you!

Very insightful, practical and informative. Terrific strategy and great to see your degree of awareness as to where your current and future income streams are coming from. A creative mind combined with business savvy and willingness to risk is a recipe for your success. All the best in 2022. Congrats!🙏
First of all hope your feeling better soon, second i really enjoy your video's, i just started out photography so it's nice to learn these things. And i cant put my finger on it right now but for some reason i keep watching your video instead of keep doing other things on my pc while listening so thats good . You got yourself a new subscriber.
Love the honesty 👍
Thanks for the info Roman, nice to hear how you approach it. Keep in mind that you have to plan for the future as well, I see too many young people only worrying about putting bread on the table today and not stocking up for the winter of life. Hope you get well and hope it doesn’t hit you again. A crazy world out there these days and as a person who makes a living like you have chosen, you can’t afford to be ill so often. So take care and watch yourself! Once this shit is all over, I’ll surely be coming to London again and I’ll keep your workshops in mind!

Great and highly informative video Roman. I subscribed to your channel a few months ago having come across you from a post on Gareth Danks site. You have a great channel and I find all of your posts really interesting. You speak in a down to earth way, always on the level, highly articulate, and most of all always interesting. I have no doubt you are going to make a success of your new career path. Love your Snaps By Fox website. A really well constructed site and a really good read. Keep up the good work. I went to your online store and saw the workshops. I thought to myself, if I ever did travel to the UK, spending a half day with you in a workshop in London would be a great tourist/photographer experience. Maybe this is something you could market to travel companies if you haven't already.

Nice to see someone with values and integrity. Really nice shots too. I'd pay to see a masterclass in editing on skillshare for sure
Amazing video and thank you for breaking down how exactly you make money with street photography as it seems at times there isn’t much money to be made in the street.

I wish you all the best. Since I spent many years as a fulltime professional photographer, I'll be interested in how your plan works for you. My experience isn't comparable. First, I worked in the days of film and way before social media. I'm also in the US and not in a major metropolitan area. While the photo business was very competitive when I was in it, I don't think it was anywhere near the fiercely competitive environment there is today. I'm seeing legendary photographers selling workshops and plugins, since conventional methods of making money in photography have really changed. Have fun and good luck.

@@snapsbyfox I was concerned about the trend of photography. Also, I had a number of large industrial clients and I was concerned about them keeping their plants in the area. We had a unique opportunity and I went back to school and got a BS in Computer Science. I was prophetic. Practically all of my industrial customers packed up and left. I had some wonderful experiences as a professional photographer and loved the challenges and different experiences. I had a family to consider as well. Moving on turned out to be a good choice for me. I still dearly love photography.

Easy now Roman, good video for people to see. Without passive income (any kind, not just from photography, but trust me, there are many many ways to attain this from photography), photographers will have to work up until the day they die, which sounds ok when you are young.....when you get old, that might not sound as good.. Passive income allows you the freedom, to do other work you actually enjoy doing, saving you from having to do jobs you hate just for the money. Passive income as a photographer actually enables you long term to shoot the work you enjoy, which in turn provides you the work you enjoy as active income from clients who see the portfolio you have created (from the freedom and time, that passive income grants you!). sounds simple and basic knowledge right?, ......... requires time, hard work, faith and a willingness to gamble..................not everyone will dare, and not everyone will succeed! good luck

Thanks for the feedback and I do agree with you. I guess my approach here was specifically focusing on the business side of things. Personally I am also putting money into investment accounts so when I am 30 years older, I will have enough passive income to handpick where I want to invest my time and energy

@@snapsbyfox yes bud, exactly, thats a wise move for sure. nothing happens quickly, be in for the long haul on each and every venture, including the photography. Im a full time fashion photographer (25 years active high end) , and my youtube channel (just started 9 months ago) is one of many long term investments where im shooting what i love, not for the money, but for the pure joy, and if it brings in dosh long term, thats a brucey bonus, ............but, as a perfect example, i have landed some amazing film and TV location scouting jobs purely from my youtube channel star wars set explores. So, just goes to show, investment isn't always about money.............looking forward to checking in on your journey bud. If you are interested, my commercial work can be found in the links on my youtube videos. good luck.
Well, you seem to know what you want to do and where you're going, you mentioned social media so I assume you're also on Linked in and getting the right contacts. Never be scared of knocking on doors, as in emails, phone calls and face to face meetings with prospective clients and A4/A3 print portfolios still work with the right clients. I was going to say good luck but you'll find you make your own luck, make it happen Roman.

this is difficult to figure out. Technically right now every time i touch a camera this is classed as work…. with that in mind i guess 60-70 hours per week…. but to me it does not feel like work
Whoever didn’t buy a print missed out, I hope I can get another one sometime 😢
First, I would get a better camera and lens (or 2 or 3)😎.
Stay tuned.
How do you go around the "not-showing-any-faces" red tape? You don't get signed consent forms from all people being shown on a street picture, do you?
@snapsbyfox
3 жыл бұрын
well this is where it can be come a grey area.... as it all depends on the end usage of the photo. Personally I always tend to go for silhouettes or where the face is not clear if I know the photo will be used commercially. If it is more to show the area, then I am ok with having faces as long as there are many and it doesn't look like someone is being singled out. A bit like buildings.... cityscape with 20 private buildings vs close up of 1 private building
@Dahrenhorst

@@snapsbyfox In my country (Germany) we at least don't have the problem with private buildings. As long as you can see the building from the street, you can take a photo. But people focused street photography like it was done in the past century simply is not possible anymore these days. Despite of today's avalanche of photos, this particular facet of our society in our time will be lost to history.
