Also you can go to the city library and request a print out of ALL available nursing scholarships, grants, etc. With the shortage there are likely pages of assistance for nursing. Apply for as much as you can and remember grants are forgivable. If you have a CNA, or work in another aspect of medical care, many facilities will help pay tuition, but will expect at least a year of work from you. Big help though because nrsg school is expensive! Starting as a CNA will give you amazing experience and you'll feel more comfortable on the floor when clinical start. You can tell when a nurse has worked as a CNA as opposed to not working as a CNA. Starting off at community college for an ASN can help too because it's much cheaper than university, you'll be working in two years and can transfer to a university to finish your BSN and hopefully your facility has tuition assistance. With nursing shortages there's tons of help out there if you look starting with the library.

I am a single mother with 2 kids so ready to go to nursing school! We of course live in our own home, no family close by etc so I work responsibly full time, all bills paid for 100% by me. I am just not finding anyone that has gone through nursing school as a single mum or not living with parents/parents helping etc. The nursing program is m-f 8-5 and i’m like HOW can you not work 40hrs a week and still pay ALL bills, not just rent but all bills, childcare etc. Even if you worked 2 12s on the weekends that wouldn’t be full time or feasible as a mother/provider. My question to anyone that can help is does financial aid really pay thousands for school plus thousands for all living expenses? I just don’t see how it all works! When I received loans in the past it was like $5000… thats like 2 months living expenses. People say “its possible” but then don’t give any practical step by step advice. I need answers lol! recommendation. go to a 2 year A.S program/LPN... typically they have m-f night school 6-10 .then u can go online for your bsn & have the hospital u work for pay for it

So I looked into the workforce by going to the office and one of the requirements is that you have to be dirt poor to get any assistance and it’s determined by how much money you’ve earned in the past 6 months so even if you’re unemployed now it doesn’t matter if your income is over “X” amount of dollars.

Where can you apply for grants

Dallas, Texas don’t offer the nursing program! However they do offer medical assistance , and phlebotomist career path! I hope this help ! ❤️

Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas actually had it listed as targeted occupation (Registered Nurse) for 2018-2019. The new list for 2019-2020 still has it on there so you should be able to get funding for nursing if you live in Dallas. www.wfsdallas.com/resources/docs/TargetOccupationsList%202019-2020.pdf
