LMAO
Wow. I was going to go to Howard Law back in 1997 but ended up going to (insert a Midwestern top 25 law school in 1997). Not the best decision mental healthwise but I was able to get a merit scholarship where my tuition was $3000 per semester. My rent was $575 for a 2 bedroom. But this was in the midwest in 1997 to 2000. My mother is a Howard Law grad c'1965. She was the only woman in her class and the 2nd Black woman to be admitted to practice law in the state of Florida in 1965. I'm subscribing and making sure you get some coins! You are doing the darn thing. Proud of you!

Thankyou sou much for being honest lmao. Im working on my masters first then going because the debt is outrageous. The bag is coming tho :)
Thank you for being so transparent and honest. It’s actually so helpful for me so that I can plan out my financial situation during my gap years now and decide what my finances might look like during law school. Could you give any advice for how to become a TA during law school?

Happy to help :) I’m not sure how it works at other schools. but at my school you just need to have done well in the class and ask the professor. it’s kind of a case by case basis thing
Thanks for this! HU! 🤓
Thank you 💕
Thank you for this video!! Recently got into Howard with the same scholarship amount as you. This was definitely helpful! Looking back at your transition into school now, how much do you wish you would have saved going into 1L?
@jor_wish

Congratulations! And I’m glad you found this helpful. It all depends on your lifestyle. I think you should try to have at least 2 months of your rent saved. Maybe try to start monitoring your monthly spending now to see how much you’d need. Also, don’t forget moving costs + furniture etc if it will apply to you

@@jor_wish okay bet!! Thank you so much 😊
nice!
Is there like a way or formula to figure out exactly how much your refund will be? I rewatched like 5x the part of you explaining that it has to do with cost of attendance minus what you actually pay but I’m still so confused lol. I feel like knowing the estimated amount before I choose a law school would help cause then I could decide if I would be able to afford rent in that area and things like that!
Thank you for this…I was so confused as to how to pay for law school this fall. Any tips on how to get a BL summer associate position after 1L?

@@jor_wish thank you!
How much did you have saved?
Omg, law school is beyond expensive
Is there anything you need to do in order to receive the entire cost of attendance through your student loans? Im currently in undergrad and wanting to go to law school, but my current student loans are nowhere near the numbers you mentioned. Does the loan automatically increase when you become a law student/grad student or do I need to do something prior to law school to get that much?
@jor_wish

i think you’ll get the full amount when you aren’t working and are independent of your parents. fafsa will ask how much money you have and as long as it’s low enough i’m sure they’ll give you all of it. in undergrad it’s sometimes different bc they see your parents income but i think for law school most ppl get the full amount
Can you say no to the erefund? Or does everyone get that automatically? Love your videos. Very helpful!

i’m not sure. thank you!!
Do they give you this refund before you attend so I can pay for rent? I’m going to LA and coming from Chicago and dorms are all full 😭

i think it depends on the school. i got mine super late my first year (october), and i had my parents help me for those first two months. definitely ask current students when the disbursement usually hits

@@jor_wish For real??? How do you find those, I called 15 places near me (michigan/ohio) and they all said 3x with proof. Where did you find one that doesnt
Hey you said you were working as an associate in the summer of 1L. How long is the summer, my question is does a law firm hires you only for 3 months?
@jor_wish
3 ай бұрын
yes. typically ppl work as a summer associate at a firm their 2L summer(May-August) and at the end of the summer they get a full time job offer to start working after they graduate 3L year. I did something a little non traditional and worked my 1L summer and the following semesters and summers until i graduated law school.

Had to rewatch you saying $8,000 like 5 times… couldn’t believe it smfh
Damn! Your school is hella expensive. They add & exaggerate fees that it seems you don’t even use or hardly use.
So many fees😂❤️❤️
Oooh you had a covid discount! Otherwise I was bout to pass out from envy
Please stop having kids if u can’t have money saved for ur kids college funds. It’s extremely unfair for them to be in debt because of ur poor or non existent planning as parents. We didn’t ask to be here. PS some of these fees that these colleges add on is beyond ridiculous. “Student self help fee” like wtf.🙄🙄🙄
$208K!! Probably comparable to most prestigious law schools. Combine that with undergrad & u're looking at close to half a mil. Wow!! Must weigh heavy on ur mind! :0
