HOW I PAID OFF £30,000 OF DEBT IN 2 YEARS *with receipts*
** O P E N M E F O R L I N K S **
This is such a touchy subject - I have spoken to many people who fear student debt and worry about how they will pay it off. This is my story of how I paid it off using my PhD stipend. I know that this video will not apply to the majority of people. I would love to hear your stories - how are you paying it off (or if you've paid it off, how did you do it)? I would love to follow up this video with tips on paying it off for those that go straight into work post-graduating. Let me know if you are interested in this!
Don't forget to leave me a comment and subscribe for my daily December videos.

For years I struggled with outstanding debts, bills and my children's school fees. I was at a point where I wanted to give up. I came across every KZread channel about how to make and multiply your income through passive income. Fortunately, I had saved some money and decided to start an investment, bought my second house already, earn on a monthly through passive income and got 4 out of 5 goals, just hope it encourages someone that it doesn’t in investing.

@@skoopqueen I don’t really believe in luck. I learn from one of the best. Gaining from investing is possible if only you can control you emotions, always sticking to the original plan ( cutting your greed to acquire more profit with a particular trade). I had a similar experience in the beginning until I met a professional her name is REGINA LOUISE COLLARO she is quite popular for her services, she made me financially stable investing through her help now I earn on a monthly basis through her passive income strategy... So I’ll advise you do get a good Investment advisor for yourself.

I have a lot of savings and considered paying it off in full but it doesn't make sense to me. It's not really a debt it's more of an extra tax. It doesn't have much of an impact on your credit. It gets written off too. May aswell use the money to buy a house or acquire assets.

Yeah that's true! I did think about that but paying it off didn't leave me much less well off financially so I just weighed up my options and paid it off!
Hi i was wondering what are the steps to pay it off in lump sums? Did you get a letter each time you paid off a chunk?
As in did you ask student finance for a letter each time you pais a chunk off? Thanak for this video btw
I just want to say a HUGE thank you for the response towards yesterday's video. It was so overwhelming to see you all open up to me about your minimalist journey and just overall made me feel even better about the steps I am taking. Thank you thank you, God bless.

thanks for delivering such an incredible message toward student like me who is out there and thinking about repaying loans. My question is what is the start salary of PhD holders?
I love your videos!! thanks and much love from sweden
The interest is so annoying! I graduated last year and have just over £30k now because of that and haven't started repaying yet. Although not something that bothers me in daily life it will always linger at the back of my mind! Just don't know where to start or who to turn to 😕

It gives me anxiety student loans.
This is so inspirational! Well done! I incurred no debt during my studies since I was living at home and decided to use my grant to pay my tuition fees. As for pocket money I would work part time and I did take an interest-free student overdraft that I've also paid off now. As for my postgrad studies I took a year out to save £8000 before I enrolled on my course. It feels amazing now to get my monthly salary knowing I don't owe anybody anything compared to my peers.

Student loan repayments don’t depend on how much you owe, it depends on how much you earn......83% of students will not pay their student loan off. After 30 years, the loan gets wiped out completely. Those 17% who pay the student loan off, will be paying for the the 83% who don’t end up paying of their loan in full
Assalam alaikum, thank you for the video. Did they charge you a fee for paying it off as you did? A few years ago I wanted to pay in lump sums as you did instead of relying on the monthly deductions but when I spoke to student finance they said i would incur an additional charge which I thought was unfair.

If you don't want a mortgage then you can invest your money wisely. A low risk index fund over 10-15years will give you a significant amount of money to buy a house outright. Investing in shares is not Haram; it's just like owning a company.
I just wanted to point out that the baseline EPSRC PhD stipend outside London (what i get) is actually about £14,500pa so a fair bit lower than the £18k figure you quoted, although i know you receive more if you are in London, and i imagine it does vary between disciplines
@DrAminaYonis

That's actually very true - definitely didn't think about that. But I guess it kind of weighs up considering how high rent is in London compared to other parts of the UK.
