How I Pack My Gear For A Thru Hike
Finally sitting down to talk all things gear, and show you how I pack my backpack for a thru-hike. This video includes all the gear I took to hike the Pacific Crest Trail and those things I will be changing for next time. I'll be going through everything from tent, to sleeping bag, clothing, diddy bag and a whole bunch more. Hopefully this is helpful for those of you planning an adventure, whether that's the PCT or something else!

Can’t wait to see more backpacking videos from you
Good recap. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for this informative video - gave me a really good overview. It's a pleasure to listen to you :)
Very informative video Courtney.enjoyed it and I've watched your trail video twice. Very Inspirational makes me want to take on a longer adventure myself. Cheers
Absolutely fantastic
I really appreciate this. Hooked on your videos since the PCT wrap!
Great video, thanks for sharing!
I also like taking a razor for shaving in town (and I can dry shave my armpits on trail and it doesn't bother my skin) - I just take the razor head (not the stem), which makes it really small and lightweight
Great info! Thank you for sharing!
Brilliantly informative thank you Courtney. I loved your PCT documentary too! I’m hoping to be in the PCT class of ‘24, so i’m doing all kinds of research! Thank you
Loved your idea of using the sleeping bag liner as a laundry bag. Brilliant idea. Will steal that one 😁👍
Omg I watched your PCT video and absolutely adored your yellow stripped shirt!! I literally just ordered one lol thanks for sharing!!
Best part of this video is the intro, love the dance😅🏕️👌
Your editing and commentary of your pct video was crazy good!!!, makes me makes me want to take that trail now!!, keep up the good work, your channel will definitely grow! You have a new subscriber 😀
I love love love your content!
I can listen to aussies all day long. Great video, good advice, honest review! Looking forward to more content :)
Removing the frame will help with immobility fatigue, but will also lower the max load capacity. The frame keeps the pack from compressing. I've only ever worn frameless packs, so I 100% support going that route, but you need a very light base weight.
You are amazing! I wish my camping gears are as well used as yours. Love your video. When would be the next trail Courtney? hehe
An Aussie with a Swiss sleeping mat, nice 😉. I've got 3 mats of the same brand and would never want another one. Greets from Switzerland
...Yep ,, Looked insane to me !! .. .. Good kit ,, very nice video ,, Well done ...
Interesting video. Super tips👍
Thanks for taking the time to share your kit! Outside of the Sierras, did you ever have to hang your food bag? or did it just stay with you in the tent?
Thanks for the video Courtney! What’s next on your trail bucket list? Keep up the great content!

Thanks Ian! A bit of an adventure planned for later this year, I will announce when I’ve got a few more ducks in a row ☺️
You just made my life so much easier!😅
The rain skirts are nice to. It’ll wrap around a little more than once to overlap. An go down mid shin or so. But can move in it easy. Since it’s open won’t get so hot. Packs to about nothing
great video, thank you! :)
I found you from your pct vid I thought you sounded Australian, I enjoyed it alot
Very good job of showing how you pack your backpack. Didn't see a jet stove of any kind so I guess you didn't use one? Hot food and coffee is a must have for me so that has to be a part of my gear. Let's hike together at some point.
Thanks for the video :) I was wondering with this gear, what is the coldest and warmest temperatures you faced and was it enough to keep you warm?
Fanny packs are so underrated

Amen!!! Best piece of gear
Thanks for your video's! Your PCT documentary is a real beauty, have watched it multiple times by now 🙂 About your camera, didn't you take any additional batteries? Or does that cam last long enough to film on a day to day basis?
Hey Courtney, I love your vids. I wonder if you would do a short video about being vegan (or even sustainability in general) on long thru hikes. I get away with freeze dried meals on trips up to 2 weeks, but can't imagine doing that all the way through my planned PCT hike. Best, Chas from Queensland.
Woohoooo!
Hello!! Love your videos! Where did you get your brown/mustard pullover that your wore on your trip?
Great organization! Well done. New follower here. Crow✌️
Thanks 🙏
I’m doing the pct March this year with a 28LT pack
Very interesting
Thank you for making this! I was so curious what you packed on the PCT. Maybe a dumb question, but didn't you worry about your down coat getting wet just loosely packed on top like that (as in not in a dry bag I mean)? I'm always terrified of mine getting wet as I've heard down takes forever to dry out after it's wet.
What would the benefit be for using trail runner vs hiking boots made for backpacking? Did you find that you missed that ankle support at all? Going to start backpacking and thru hiking and just want to ask some questions about footwear.
Hey, Im going to do the PCT in 1 or 2 years, and I was wondering how long it took you to plan for the trip
Sleeping like a pencil 😅, that's brilliant!
Since you knocked out the PCT are considering the triple crown?
How did fine the hyperlite after 2600 miles? Shoulder padding hold up? Stink factor?
do you edit on the road with a laptop, or when you get home?
Did you use a cooking kit or just cold soak everything?
Where did you get the z packs tent in Australia?

Hey Karina! Mine is direct from Zpacks, though I did have to pay import tax so something to think about ☺️
Are you Australian? You have the nicest accent. :) I love your color scheme btw

Hopefully later this year everything going to plan! ☺️
where did you get a PCT Hang Tag?
@courtneyevewhite
Жыл бұрын
Hey! You get these at the southern terminus if you start relatively early in the day ☺️

@@courtneyevewhite Hmm, I've been to the Southern Terminus several times. Never seen anyone handing out hang tags. Thanks for the info.
Stupid question: Did you not use sunscreen?
@courtneyevewhite

Not a stupid question at all! I did for maybe the first week… I think maybe we’re used to higher UV index in Aus so it didn’t effect me too much… or it could just be that I was covered in dirt the whole time 😂
Maybe I just don't get it as a European, so dumb question: What exactly is a through hike?
great video! but do you not carry a cock system?
Seems like a bit too many packing bags, tbh ... and why does hiking pole have gender specific models?
great vid! Small tip, you should put before your website link in the description so its clickable and drive more clicks!
