How I manage my multiple current accounts

From cashback to monthly rewards, there are all sorts of incentives and freebies you can get with multiple current accounts. And don't forget bank switching bonuses.
But the more accounts you have, the more admin is required. Plus many account switches and perks require extras like direct debits or minimum deposits each month.
Don't let this put you off! As I share in this video you can automate most of the money transfers. Plus I've got ideas for where you can find extra direct debits if you've run out!

    Hi Andy! I’ve been binge watching all your videos recently to try and organise myself a bit more. I still have the current account I opened when I was 16, which from what I gather from your videos is a good thing for my credit report. I want to open more accounts but my mortgage is due for renewal in the next 6 months. Am I safe to open an account with a bank that does a soft check like Monza, Starling or Chase? Or if that isn’t an option could I open another account with my existing bank? Thanks for your videos and keep up the good work 🙂

    I have money in a monzo account but then came across a group on Instagram which I searched on Facebook called “monzo Stole our money”. Have you looked into this? It seems monzo are randomly shutting accounts - some with lots of money in - and holding onto the money for long periods of time. Currently trying to get my money out and shut my account and transfer back into a high street bank.

    What’s the difference between standing order and direct debit also how do I set up direct debit or does it happen automatically

  • @BeCleverWithYourCash

    @BeCleverWithYourCash

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hey Zaim. A standing order is a transfer you set up from your current account to another bank account. It’s for the same amount each time and can be to another of your own accounts, or one belonging to another person or business. A direct debit is one you set up with a business for a regular payment, but the amount can change each time.

    @@BeCleverWithYourCash Cheers Andy - One other thing... can you pay off your Amex credit card by direct debit... this is in regards to the Halifax rewards account and having to spend £500 using the debit card... is it the same? Regards.

  • @BeCleverWithYourCash

    So what you need to do here is set the Amex direct debit for later in the month. This allows you time at the start of the month to use the debit card to clear £500. The direct debit will then take the rest you owe to clear the balance.

    When you open a bank account you have to agree to the Ts and Cs of the bank account. Most banks require that, when you open a current account with them that you agree that you will close all other current accounts within a defined period (3 months for example). You are encouraging people to commit fraud against multiple banks .
