How I Make Trees in N Scale

Having got a new phone with a better camera, I decided to make a video showing how I make trees for my N scale layout.
Most commercially available trees and tree armatures provide for quite large trees in N scale, but there is nothing available for small trees and young saplings, so I decided to make my own. These trees are a variation of the twisted wire method, using multi-strand wire - the very same wire that I used to wire up my layout.

The best and most effective method I have seen so far - Bravo and thanks.

Thanks. And what is nice is that they survive lots of rough treatment. Shortly after making this video, I put a number of the trees in an area on my club's layout that seems to be knocked about by members. I just straighten the trees up every now and then and they still look good.

Nicely done, ill have a go at this, still getting my head around N scale after being so used to OO/HO. PS.. It is actually easier to just dip the wireframe n the modpodge than brush it on. :)

Thanks for the suggestion. I painted the Mod Podge because I was always worried that the wire would bend and it would be a hassle to get the shape back while wet. After having a number of these trees on a club layout where ham-fisted members keep knocking them and bending them over, I now know that they are really easy to put back into shape, so bent wires as a result of dipping would be easy to straighten after the Mod Podge dries.

@@ericcoughlan Last time i did it (a few years back). It will "sag"/run a little while it dries but i remedied that by having a 10 minute alarm set where i turned it the other way up (or right way up). Aftera few alarms it was stable enough to just leave alone and gave a nice even coat with a little bias to the base.
