How I make my hardcover needle book | no talking |

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

After searching many sewing, haberdashery and notions shops looking for a solution that would keep all of my hand sewing needles organized and not finding the right tool.
I decided I would design something myself. This beautiful hard cover needle book was exactly what I needed. An heirloom quality book that I could make again and again for all of my needles.

Here we live with our beloved corgi Truman ( he traveled with me from the states, someone needed to hold my hand 😉) and our two crazy kitties 🐈‍⬛ Elvis & 🐈 Lilly. They all like to pop up in the films for time to time, so be on the look out for those ears!

Hi Lisa, thank you for watching. I am sew glad that you enjoy the video. When I designed this project, I was very inspired by the Victorian era needle books. Admittedly, this is my favorite tool to use and I love how this little book feels in my hand. It could easily be created with needle and thread ( my preferred method of sewing) but I do love exploring the tradition of book binding. Sew, I opted to combine the two ideas and create my personal version of a needle book. If I may, I invite you to follow me on Instagram…..you may see something similar to this idea coming soon 😉😉😉. Best! Wayne

Hi 🙋‍♂️ Michelle, it’s lovely to meet you & a BIG welcome to my channel. Sew 🪡 glad you found me 💝. What a great idea, to make a needle book as a gift. I know someone that is having a birthday this year and you have inspired me to create one for them. Thank you for that. I agree, sewing can be a bit advanced and difficult to understand if your not familiar with the techniques. But learning journal making does help with this project plus it’s rather easy not to mention fun. I am excited for your journey. I am a self learner too, so I understand your “ Why” questions. The best advice I can offer, question everything you create and ask why is it done this way. Often the answers are magical revealed to you 😉. I am certainly not a professional at book binding but I will happy answer any questions you may have about what I create in my videos. Best! Wayne

Hi Angela, you’re very welcome. I’m thrilled you enjoyed the video ❣️. I used basic book binding methods for this book, perhaps you could look in that genre for more ideas on pages. My suggestion, sew the felt pages to the middle spine fabric before you glue it in place. Or……make more books for the different style of needles, creating your own personal library 💁‍♂️. Whatever you come up with….it will be great! Have fun and thanks for writing to me. A big hello from Germany. Best!

Yes, I did use bookbinders glue. I highly recommend it . When working with fabrics, I turn them into book cloth first. It’s very easy, iron on some fusible web on the wrong side…. Then adhere it to tissue paper. This will keep the glue from soaking through the cloth. Have fun creating 👋

I love the chill vibe and not someone just muttering endlessly before the actual making of the project. I have some inquiries as to some of the poducts seen in this video: 1- what is the black box? 2- where did you get those awesome pattern weights? 3- what type and brand is the glue you used? Thank you sew very much.

First, please let me apologize for such a delayed response. I’ve been very inactive on my channel but I thank you for the lovely feedback. It helps to know that my video is being enjoyed. I would like to answer your questions, The black box is my sewing kit. An old Ikea piece that I fitted to house my needle book, pins, and accoutrements. The pattern weights are Japanese. Cohana . They are pricey but well worth having in your collection. The glue is just a basic book binding glue that I picked up in an art store. If I can ever answer more, I will respond promptly. This is nice, but I’m the kind of person who processes things by hearing them described out loud in words. The music and needing to constantly watch the video without breaks makes it really hard to watch. Which is disappointing because I bind books, make paper, make boxes, weave, felt, sew, and my obsession of the last couple months is making needle books, sewing rolls, etc. I’m sure lots of people like the no talking thing (and this is still WAY better than the YTers who have high pitched voices and have a super bouncy overly friendly speaking style!) but I watch crafts YT while I’m working on projects, this is super relevant to me more than any others I’m finding in searches, but I basically have to play it repeatedly at 2X speed to get a sense of the process and get through the video. Please consider doing chill verbal commentary alternate versions for future no talking vids. That being said, your visual composition and editing is elegant. Thanks for taking the time to share this.
