How I Make Jars

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I have finally returned with another video! 2019 was a busy year for me and I really missed making videos. This year I want to make time for more videos. My goal is to post a video every month.
If you don't already, follow me on my Instagram for updates on what's coming next. You can also sign up for my newsletter on my website for emailed updates and special promo codes for upcoming sales.
My bat system is made by WonderBat and was purchased on Amazon. I am not sure if they are still being made, but Dirty Girls' bat system is just as good.
Please let me know if you have any pottery video requests!

My name is Kaitlyn Chipps and I am a potter! I am currently a resident artist at Mudfire in Atlanta, GA.

Watching you start carving in 7:56 was like watching Bob Ross paint a giant tree at the front of his picture, thinking the piece is ruined, but you actually made it even prettier than it was before!

Oh! Waiting until that leathery point makes so much more sense! Now I get what went wrong with a lot of my past pottery projects. I never thought to actually take advantage of that fairly hard stage, I just did it all while fully wet and then the really fine details or getting rid of all tooling marks hasn't really worked well for me in the past while wet, so I'll try to do refining work while hard from now on!

I try to find a good balance between the leatherhard and wet stage. Sometimes too dry can cause cracks as it dries.

Sometimes it's just fun watching someone else make something cool. Who knows, you might try making one someday trying it. There are pottery classes and shops all over the place. Theres one just a few blacks from my house. I went over and bought a few morals mushroom back yards. Because I love to hunt them and like to see them. There about 10 years old and the weather hasn't destroyed them at all. Not like my plastic basement window covers. I'm lucky if it will last 2 to 3 years. The sun breaks down plastic that pretty dam easily. I don't know why put plastic bottles in the garbage dumps. Without our sun getting the chance need to brake down the plastics. It doesn't take so long to break plastic. The problem are were to put it all to let the sun do the job, and keep it away from water.

at about 3:10 you repair the chunk your rib took out by essentially "throwing in reverse". I've save many vessels this way. Sometimes cylinders get a bit wonky and I'll throw a "pull" down from top to bottom. Mostly, I can save them. Might be worth a mention. Thx!

I really think your throwing wheel, with the removable center, is so super cool. I don't throw or actually do anything artistic but I find that system you have to be so ingenious and fuss free that if I were ever to get into this craft that would be the only way to go. Great end results too, you are really good at this so I hope the best for you!
