    This is a great recipe. I have tried it twice. I add an extra 1/4 cup of juice and stir gelatin throughly when it’s on the heat.Next time, I’ll try 1/8 tsp of vitamin c powder.

    I love your simple instructions. I plan to make a large batch of Elderberry juice with herbs & 2 cinnamon sticks, 1 1/2piece of fresh ginger & 1 slice of fresh tumeric, some lemon juice & as it cools I'll add some raw honey to taste. Then I'll make some gummies, I have the larger gummy molds & fir the grown ups I have the jumbo gummy bears that hold 4 tsp. I'm so excited I have everything ready to go for in the motning. 🙆‍♀️ I have organic pomegranate juice mixed with apple juice with the mother (I also have some concentrated concord grape juice that I need to use up (I bought 2 & I didn't realize how concentrated they are, so I think theyll be a great combination with the Elderberry juice & I'll add comfrey & maybe slippery elm herb with lemon juice & sweeten with Raw honey towards the end as it's cooled a bit. I'll can whst I don't make into gummies 🤭🙆‍♀️❣ I feel like a young girl again. I use Zen Principle grass fed & grass finished pasture raised, bovine gelatin. I get the 3 lb container, I will buy one more 3lb container so I'll have it for a long while. These will be my new candy & medicines, for when I'm feeling not quite right & need an energy boost. 🤗🥰🙆‍♀️ Thank you again❣

  • @jillbertphones783

    @jillbertphones783

    I tried the recipe and yeah, it came out just as jelly - not strong enough to demold without tearing. Definitely not gummy. Strange, as it's a very common ratio of gelatin to juice that I've seen. I will try doubling the amount of gelatin to see what effect that has.

  • @preservingtoday

    @preservingtoday

    Hopefully doubling the gelatin will help. Make sure you’re not over boiling the gelatin, because that will break it and it won’t set up.

    Have you tried coating them in carnubawax/canolaoil or Citricacid/sugar to preserve their life? Curious how well it works

  • @preservingtoday

    @preservingtoday

    5 ай бұрын

    I have not tried that, cool idea. I don’t use canola oil, citric acid or much sugar at home so it hadn’t crossed my mind. I’ve never made enough that they would last very long because my kids love them so much! I figure they would be fine room temp as long as your house isn’t too hot. There is nothing in them that would spoil or allow bad bacteria to grow (they are too acidic if made with fruit juice). I’m going to make some soon and I will set some aside for an experiment on shelf life. I’ll report back with my findings here. Thanks for your interest and cool ideas. :)

  • @preservingtoday

    I bet you could get away with adding some oil to a point, too much and things won’t set up. You’d have to experiment, but that would be really cool if you pull it off! I don’t know anything about lecithin and I’ve never used it.

    How long this healthy gummy bear will still fresh at room temperature? 6 month? No need preservative?

  • @preservingtoday

    @preservingtoday

    2 ай бұрын

    I’m not certain at room temperature, because I always keep mine in the fridge. If your home is very hot, it could affect the texture of the gummy. If your house is a moderate temperature the gummies should stay fresh for several weeks at least.

I tried mango, raspberry, cherry (frozen) I tried orange, watermelon, and mixed berries w/ homemade kombucha from the hotel. Non of them were tasty.
