Wow, beautiful knife. You could tell Elsa was getting tired after a while, when she stopped jumping up so high for her toy. What a fun way to give her the exercise she needs. Seriously beautiful work Sandy. The detailed explanations were very helpful in gaining insight into the work that goes into your craft. It's too bad more people in the US don't take up these types of crafts. It seems like nothing is handmade here anymore... Which is why I buy most of my leatherwork from the UK, where people still take pride in working with their hands. Good for you, Wiltshire Man!

Just finished watching part # 1 to this and i'm glad I did . I no doubt learned a few things . Fine looking Sheath and your Knives are beautiful . I really loved the one with the tapered tang & blue liners . That's some fine craftsmanship .

I can see why your sheaths look so fine. There is a lot of work and time involved. Everything you do is a work of art. It would be a shame to use one of your knives in the woods, but that is what they are made for. I hope to own one sometime.

That (proposed name) "JackLore Hunter" in full height Convex grind should also be one hell of a Bushcraft/Woodcraft knive! (and be a pretty good "Food Prep" knife also if limited to carrying just one knife. ( Only a thinner .09 to .10 inch blade stock would better in for food prep) It's my favorite grind overall, because once you learn how is the easiest to keep the knife sharp. And usually just regular leather stroping will maintain it, sometimes with a high grit ncompound applied to the leather. There is a reason Bark River uses that gring for the majority of their offerings. One other feature on the knife shown here is you've maintained much more of the edge to be usuable. The small sharpening choil is ok too, as it helps us mere mortals to get a sharp edge all the way along it's length. Personally, I'm not real a fan of maybe 1/2 inch of blade in front of the handle not being aspart of the sharpened edge,... just my preference and usual choice to avoid knives with that design used. I suspect you will really like building more of these full height convexed knives in the future. BTW, that handle is not only beautiful because of the outstanding wood graining, but is also a winner because of the beefyness of the handle for a most secure grip and control of a hard use knife. Love the sheath too, by the way! 🙂

Hi Bry yes a lot of work goes into the making of a knife and a sheath but I am now a practiced hand and got it down to a fine art:)

I love the convex sandy it looks amazing, try a hollow grind on the jacklore hunter and mirror polish the grind, I've just recently done a hollow grind and mirror polished the blade, I believe that the hollow grinds look great and cut extremely well and it's not that hard to do free hand I was surprised when I first did it. Mr. Jackloreknives. Excellent two-part tutorial on how to create a beautiful knife sheath. One question. And it is more of a "fashion" statement. Why do I see, whether for a complete knife or a folding knife, does only half of the knives' grip handle is left exposed? For me, it is much more difficult to grasp the knife out of its sheath, than if the full knife's grip was left exposed. Is there a more of a solid reason, that I can't comprehend for this?

Simple answer is retention of the knife. This type of sheath relies of depth for retention otherwise your knife may fall out!
