Thank you for explaining the reason and need to be moving your mooring every couple of weeks. I am from the States but lived in the UK for more than three years from 2008 onwards. I would occasionally see narrowboats during my travels but never knew the ins and out of them. I happened upon your channel and finding your adventures interesting and it almost has me thinking of renting a narrowboat for a week's vacation the next time I'm back visiting friends and family. 🎉hi May, I just found your channel! How resourceful and varied your days are. I met my hubby while living for 10 years on the canals. We pulled craft boats. Now in our seventies we live off grid on land we found 13 yrs ago. I was 3 years on my own before I met Phil, and often cycled back to my car like you! Roz x

This was a truly enjoyable video. I used to have a narrowboat on the Medway in Kent. Left that 10 years ago now living a very different life in Somerset, now considering living in a touring caravan. Have very fond memories of boat life. Your video bought it all back to me, what a relaxing way to live. Keep the videos coming

Ha! Yep, dirty dirt hands, that's a boater's life. 🙂 Wow, every boat seemed to have their stove going, smoke coming out the chimneys. Interesting water pouring over the blocks on the left side of your boat as us you cruise along ... reduces the turbulence in the canal, I suspect. Ah, walking is marvelous, superb. As long as the weather allows, walking is preferable to me. And look at the photos you take! So enjoyable. Good on you for doing so much to help others! You're a gem.

Hello May. I’m on a very rare permanent coastal mooring which I adore. It's pricier than your nomadic way of life but I prefer stability at the moment. As you say there’s pros and cons to be weighed, however, it’s unlikely I’ll want to return to a land based existence any time soon. Good to see you’re enjoying boat life.

Hi May, surprised I am only now finding your channel as I watch a lot of narrowboat YTers. Your channel is doing very well, I bet Patreon would bring in a few $'s. I find that cooking video's always do pretty well and diy projects. A livestream now and then is a good way to get the community you are building together. The huge advantage of livestreams is no editing. If you find a niche, something that you enjoy that not many other narrowboaters are doing and do that. You have a good comedic sense so maybe something along those lines... "Monday with May" which could feature some of your spontaneous compositions : ). Anyhow, you're doing very well. I'm enjoying your energetic spirit. EDIT: My bad you have a niche, Yoga, don't see many narrowboaters doing that : ).

Keep on enjoying it, it looks like a wonderful lifestyle and such wonderful variety too - good for the soul and the mind. My two friends love it, so do their partners. One came back to dry land for 15 months (during early lockdowns etc) but has sold their flat and bought another NB! One is near Gloucester and the other near Oxford (used to be near Devizes) - he was a bit worried about navigating the Thames in winter when collecting the boat from the Midlands, but did okay. I've done most of my boating on rivers - not much on canals. I've used a wheel and tiller which are nice skill sets to have, but that was awhile ago now🤔🙄😄 I'm waffling - sorry😳🙄😄

Thank you so much I have had lots of boats and crazy things from a electric patrol boat ect . But now ive built a small wooden Day Boat its named the queen elizabeth it runs on electric engine and soon to be on the canal might see you if you are ever on the leeds Liverpool canal all the best 👌 👍

what a very interesting side of boating not shown by other channels. In essence you appear to be tied to a general geographic area given you have real jobs to do so must be within economic travelling distance of them. A very different lifestyle to how others explain what it is to be a continuous cruiser. Thank you for posting.

Bicycle - get a Brompton and keep it in the boat. They are costly, but you won't need a bike rack on the boat, and Bromptons are very sturdy and don't take a lot of space. If you don't do hills a three speed will do, otherwise a 6 speed Bromton with a 38 tooth chainwheel will get you up most hills. Thanks for your video - very informative.

This must be a wonderful life. Though going solo would have it's ups and downs - I think it would be great. The only thing I find a little strange is taking your car with you. It must come in handy having a car if you need to get out and about. I live in Australia and the canal life is not an option for us but watching programs like yours is the next best thing. Nicely shot - your editing skills are up there. Creating and then using all that B-roll such as the remote walking shots really adds to the overall look and feel of the piece. That is perhaps another skill you can monetise? - hope the boat is warm during this cold snap.

really interesting video. ever thought about stuff like electric scooters/unicycles/etc to travel to get the car? More for when you have longer distances obviously (with you enjoying the walking). maybe a bit more compact than the bicycle

Love your channel, I have a fledgling hiking and biking channel and when you mentioned adapting a bike rack I thought you could do much better. My suggestion would be to pick up a used Brompton folding bike as featured on my channel. It folds up quickly and very small, the bike is as capable as any other and I absolutely love them.
