I sent the following on a youtube video of a young lady who seems to believe Scorpio risings are actual Scorpios. Im not an expert but I tried to challenge her based upon what I’ve seen cited elsewhere. I was hoping you could critique my reply to her and tell me if I explained myself correctly if and when you have a moment? I wrote; Scorpio ascendant and Scorpio Sun here. I must respectfully add pushback. It is generally accepted that your Sun is your core identity, and the your ascendent sign is merely your outward projection to the outside world yet not being internally what you are. You basically admit this at 2:21 where you liken the ascendant sign as the “cloak we wear”, at 3:13 where you compare it to a space suit, or outward protection, and finally at 4:11 when you say it’s “whats expressed outwardly”. Emphasis on OUTWARDLY. If I act like a rich man and project it convincingly, people might actually think I’m rich and treat me as such. But if I take one of those people home with me, and they spend time with me, they’ll realize the truth. The inner truth not hidden by an outward projection. Scorpio risings display pluto energy OUTWARDLY. They are outward projecting. But your outward appearance isn’t what you truly are. It is as you said, a cloak. I can make myself look like a genius, and channel the necessary energy to do this. Yet that may not be really who I am at my core, and if you get close enough, you’ll be able to tell, because at the end, the mask or cloak must come off. The man whom you cite in the links you include, Steven Forrests, while still calling The Ascendant sign the mask, more often -as the article you cited states- refers to it as stained glass, and I’ll quote: “The Ascendant is like the stained glass through which the rest of the psyche shines into the world. Stained glass filters the light that passes through it; it tints the light, gives it a hue. That’s exactly how the Ascendant works. It translates the INNER (emphasis mine) complexity of the psyche into the three-dimensional terms of the SOCIAL (emphasis mine) world.” In other words, it’s important in that it’s what you project and a filter for what comes from your inward psyche. But to be clear, its a PROJECTION for social reasons, not what you are internally. Note my emphasis on his use of the term “social”. Social meaning outside interaction with others. Not your true inner self, your identity, your core. What you are internally is your identity as given by the sun sign. Steven Forrest affirms this in his Book of Pluto, that Sun represents identity and that person with Sun/Pluto embodies much of that spirit. I quote from pg 216: “Any linking of Pluto with the Sun in the birth chart immediately suggests that one’s identity (Sun) is inherently Plutonian. As always, we must recognize that the art in astrology lies in perceiving wholeness, and that the symbolism can often be misleading when we abstract a single feature out of a chart. Still, a person with Pluto-Sun contacts in his or her chart generally embodies much of the spirit of Pluto itself.” (He put the “Sun” in parenthesis not me”) Pg 217 he continues: “The Sun, as we have seen, points in the direction of our vitality. If we are true to the Sun-impulse in ourselves, we are full of life and verve; if not, we are dull, and more susceptible to our own “demons.” Thus, the Sun-Pluto person derives energy from everything Plutonian.” To be clear you’re not Sun-Pluto if you’re only Ascendant. Therefore it’s not your identity. Here another quote from Stephen Arroyo's Chart Interpretation Handbook: Guidelines for Understanding the Birth Chart: pg 99: “Guidelines to Interpreting the Ascendant”; “Although the Ascendant is of deep and pervasive importance for each individual, there is no denying that it must be related to the rest of the chart and especially to the Sun Sign, in order to understand it thoroughly for a particular person. The Sun, after all, is the core identity, the very center of the consciousness, the way we assimilate much of our experience, whereas the Ascendant-although it varies in importance from person to person--is not as central to the person's nature. It shows, among other things, the approach to life; but the Sun shows life itself! The Ascendant must serve the purposes, values, and creative goals of the Sun for the individual to function happily and fully. The Ascendant modifies the expression of the Solar energy.” So to be clear, Ascendent is very important. How we interact with the outside world is the ascendent sign energy at play. No one can deny this. But I think we can all agree, and as these quotes point out, ascendent is OUTWARD EXPRESSION. Not INWARD IDENTITY. Expression and outward energy isn’t the same as your identity being that energy itself. And however the stained glass (ascendant) tints the light (sun), the light without the tint, is the true energy. Scorpio risings are a stained glass, filtering the light and energy of another sign as its source. Scorpio Suns are that signs energy at the core with no tint. Put another away, Scorpio Risings “appear” outwardly, what Scorpio Suns “actually are” inwardly. And I’ve not seen anything from any of the sources you cite that contradicts this. Please look very closely at how Steven Forrest and Stephen Arroyo explain the nature of the Sun sign to identity in contrast to the ascendent or rising sign

@franksmith16 - This is pretty text book knowledge, although whomever you sent this to is most likely set on their made up version of Astrology. I wouldn't waste any words on them whatsoever. Let them pretend, it's free promotion for the real Stingers.
