I think a good trick is to cut the edge from the inside out, angling the blade at a bias away from the faceplate. And also, laying the plate flat, using the metal as a guide. Also, making multiple light passes instead of one heavy stroke to get through the material.

Honestly the flaws are unnoticeable to me dude 😂 amazing skin mod!!! Might try this one day

I have just ordered an SP and wondered how you cut out custom skins.. I figured you needed a vinyl cutting printer but this looked pretty easy to do.

I think so, this green thing was a bit thicker and fabric like so was tougher to get thru than vinyl. Fresh, sharp scalpel and a if possible a hard rubber mat under I think would serve you better than the damn cardboard thing I used…

Thanks man! I asked a friend if he had one n he was able to track one down for me but I don’t know where from sorry, hopefully someone like mpcstuff.com starts selling them, that’s where I got my spare 404a chassis from.

Did you ditch the fat pads? What are your longterm thoughts on those?

Still got the fatties on the 404a, still like their feeling, I always have my hi hat on pad 9 n that one is starting to wear but the other are still fine.

@@Nonjuror Hello my friend. First of all, thank you for your sp 404 tutorial videos. I have a question. When exporting stems, it does not with bus 3 and 4 effects. Someone asked this question and you said that for every stem you take out, you should resample it and record it with the effect. it’s a very long road. Is there a simpler solution to this? thanks. love.

Unfortunately not, to the best of my knowledge you have to resample everything before exporting. Sorry I don’t have a better answer…cheers man!
