hi everyone! it's been 2 months already since i uploaded my first sewing video. u guys seem to like that one a lot, so here's another sewing tutorial :). i received a couple requests on my green totebag and in this vid i'll be going through the steps on how i made the bag. enjoy watching & thank you for being here!
disclaimer: i'm not an expert in sewing, it's just something i enjoy doing in my free time ~

0:00 - intro
0:22 - what you'll need (/what i used)
1:10 - step 1: deconstruct
1:49 - step 2: cut the fabric
2:11 - step 3: connect front to bottom
2:46 - step 4: connect back to bottom
3:21 - step 5: connect sides to bottom
3:51 - step 6: sew the corners
5:46 - step 7: connect all sides
6:21 - step 8: measure your strap
7:01 - step 9: sew strap on 1 side first
7:26 - step 10: fold each top piece inside
8:23 - step 11: finish the sides
8:53 - step 12: finish the strap
9:18 - step 13: sew two lines around the top
9:35 - the finished product
~ details~
what you'll need (/what i used):
1. fabric scissors (or something to cut the fabric)
2. canvas cotton (bought at my local fabric shop)
3. thread in the same color as the fabric
4. cotton strap (bought at my local fabric shop)
5. a working sewing machine (mine is very old, not sure what brand it is, but it still works and gets the job done)
feel free to use any sturdy material you want. perhaps something you already have at home like old (sturdy) clothes you don't wear anymore. just experiment and have fun with the process ;)

    Thanks great tutorial. I made this today.. came out perfect (semi perfect). But awesome…. I made strap couple inches longer and added a ring in the strap. And wanted a post apocalyptic look so I aged it with espresso grounds. And added distressed white text ….

    Can I add another layer if the material is too soft to make it sturdier?

    if your sewing machine can handle an extra layer of fabric, then i'd say yes. if it's too thick the needle would probably break at some point (at least that's what happened to mine). you could test sewing a small part to see if your sewing machine can handle!

    Hey, also fabric stores sell Inter facing which you can iron to make your fabric thicker 😊
