i love how honest you were about how parts were staged, some scenes were created for transitional purposes, or some events were mixed around to make the story make sense! So interesting from a filmmaker perspective!

if you pitch this to netflix, hulu, hbo etc. make sure you have full control over how the show looks. I think everyone will agree that you have a special way of producing and showing your subject, and that should never be taken away from you

So you're telling me that the scooter scene was filmed on the street where I walk every day, and I didn't realise it while watching the pilot? Sir that was excellent cinematography!

It’s been so satisfying watching Damon’s vision come to life after all these years with such a seamless transition to the ‘travel show’ form. I also cannot believe he somehow involved his damn ex 😭😭

The fact that you are doing this, right there is why you are an amazing creator. Demystifying the process is so important not only to understand how much work goes into this but to honor that it is a collective work.

The pilot may not have been exactly what you wanted, but make no mistake - it is so, so, SO good. And WHEN it does get picked up, you need to bring Ioana and Chloe with you. The filming and editing was fantastic. And the preproduction work you put in- PHENOMENAL. You should be so proud. We are.

iona and damon literally inspired me to learn about movie making, editting, storywriting, scene making. i think i finally know what i wanna be (omg finally took me so long)

I feel like working TV/Film is a nice balance of abstract creativity and hands-on work!

A fabulous look into making the pilot. You rarely get to hear people speak with such detail about all aspects: pre-production, production, and post. Well done.

I DID notice the dress change and I repeated that part to figure out how you did it. LOL Also the multiple shots of tram chase. I was like are you using multiple cameras ? But damn it matched so perfectly. Lot of hard work !! And the lady is super talented too.

Your effort was so worth it. Everything from the colours used with the filters , to the parts with the funny google translate scenes . The artistic side of the video editing was great , it felt like it was filmed continuously , and also as for the people there i really believed it was all so spontaneous. The general aesthetic is so you and i love it

that pilot was so brilliantly crafted. i can't believe how much careful thought you put into it and it turned out absolutely amazing.

Damon puts so many cool specifics that rewatching makes you appreciate it so much. The ability to rewatch something makes it good. (Like we both do with friends! 😂) So don't worry, Damon, we notice

The whole video seemed like a high budget, high production documentary filmed with a whole crew and that speaks for itself about how entertaining and beautiful it was to watch♡

Wow I was already in awe at the production value before this video but now hearing about the details it’s just THAT MUCH MORE IMPRESSIVE!!! You’re incredible.

Omg Damon!!! I love the transparency and I’m interested in anything film/docu/tv related, so I love this idea (even if you gotta engineer some interactions lol); it still shows your storytelling skills and how you, Ioana and Chloe can come together and make an interesting project that REAL people can relate to or just simply enjoy!

This just proves how demanding *good* storytelling is. It’s beyond impressive. I wish I could watch more episodes!!

I think story telling is first and foremost about what is emotionally true rather than literally true, so I think the stages portions are not a problem as they get across how the experience might have felt at the time. So insightful to see your process !
