Used to be a two finger warrior, but few months ago I decided to learn how to use ten fingers. Started from 10WpS and now around an average of 30Wps. Really happy about it. Edit: Yes, used to look at the keyboard while using 2 fingers now I don't while using ten.

It's pretty simple: focus on accuracy and speed will follow. At least that's what works for me. It has allowed me to beat the likes of Sean Wrona three times, Kukkain twice, and a few other well-known typists on Typeracer. My accuracy would always be, like, 99.8%. I hadn't typed in a long time (almost a year), so I'm trying to get back to that. I'm getting there. Remember: [perfect practice] makes perfect.

It's as simple as practise, practise, practise. The key is to **never** look at your fingers. Print out a keyboard layout chart, and clip it onto a stand next to the keyboard. For most people, it would be on the left, since the mouse is on the right. So if you need to know where a key is, look at the chart, and not at your fingers or the keyboard itself. This is extremely important because if you look at your fingers/keyboard, you'll always stunt your progress. With more practise you'll eventually not need the chart, and just type on your own. You won't be fast at all, at first, maybe only 10-20 words per minute. But like anything else in life, with practise you'll get better. That's how I learned to type in keyboarding class. My instructor was very, very strict about never looking at the fingers/keyboard, and use the chart. I'm very grateful for that. That was back in primary school. I'm now in my 30's and type 100-120 wpm, depending on how easy the words are, and how many numbers, symbols and punctuation marks there are.

TheONGway after practicing for almost a month and I was just focusing on knowing letters positions and now I can write completely without looking at the keyboard but my speed is very low. Now I’m at 25 wpm on average. I practice 5 days a week for maybe 20 mins. I hope I’ll get better soon. To be honest my speed is getting better every day. Thanks for your motivation. You’re the one who made me start and here I’m. Thank you

I’m using keybr from last 5 days and already seeing lotta speed and improvement in my typing. So far I’ve reached letter “g” soon will unlock all!

@@juniusong I don't really know. My left hand bounces around a lot to hit keys and my accuracy isn't as good too. But I've seen that the home row method has minimum movement

Personal best of 180, recorded 160. Use an Apple magic, switched from mechanical as chiclets are easier on the wrist. I also use 5 fingers

@@juniusong maybe you should improve your bursting ability. you should practice bursting on short sentences, just going for the highest speed possible. this would then help you on the 1 minute tests for example. because you could use that bursting ability on a part of the test, and you would go faster than usual

Here's my typing speed average by age: - 10 years:30-35wpm 15 years:65-70wpm 19 years:95-100wpm My best ever on typeracer: 137wpm I know its a slow improvement but I never obsessed too much about my typing speed. I didnt learn touch typing specifically. I just used typeracer to keep me motivated. I think you should force yourself to not move your hand a lot hence forcing yourself to use most of your fingers

jesus,programmer here - Ive somehow managed to survive until 30 without really learning how to touch type with 10 fingers. I can pull 80-85wpm touch typing with just my index fingers and thumb, but cant for the life of me type at more than 45 wpm using all 10 digits.

Maybe try touch typing really slowly with high accuracy then working back up to 100wpm might help

I just got 30 wpm. But I am happy that I improved from 20 wpm to 30 wpm in a week. I will pracrice till I get 90 or 100 wpm😉
