    I relate. For me its really similar, i learned it from my Mom. Stressful times? Lets go Shopping. Since i have to look after my money and cant spend too much, i find myself browsing and browsing hours and hours, loosing myself in a black hole where i think "its absolutely important to find a special bag ive seen on an influencer but is too expensive for me for a price that i could afford". I mean frickin hours. I really have other things to do, i have a daughter and sometimes i think i use that shoppingblackhole as an "escape" to my rather stessful and work-ful live. But its not gone after i spend toomanyhours looking, browsing, searching for "a perfect" thing, i clearly do not need since i have every type of Shoe, Bag, jacket... I need. But, i am afraid top let shopping go. I dont know what i should do instead. Will there be a void

    Oh sweet girl… I feel so deeply for what you’re navigating through🥺 So what I hear you saying is, you want to stop shopping (because you know you don’t need to) but you can’t stop shopping because you’re afraid of what that means for you (and your identity).. ? okay so I would ask yourself… when you were that little girl going through stressful times and you and mom went shopping…. What feelings did that bring up for you? What did it make you feel, after you shopped? I would start there and dive deep. Keep peeling back the layers, the emotions underneath the actions, the situations which invoked the emotions to want to shop.. etc. This sounds like how I used to deal with stressful/uncomfortable emotions as well… but until we identify whyyyy we want to shop, and when we’re triggered to shop- then we’ll continuously spiral ourselves through unconscious actions (like shopping, disassociating, etc) Does this help?? 🥹 Please let me know if you have any more questions. You got this! All we’re doing here is making the unconscious- conscious- so we can choose different choices for ourselves in the future 🥰🦋💫 So much love your way Mimsey✨

    Sounds like me! I just don‘t know what to do instead. I know I SHOULD work on healthy habits like eating less but better and exercise in the gym, go out for a walk in the woods, have tea, do yoga, meet with friends, but these things don’t thrill me that much 😢

    @@silkeso1593 Hiiiii! Just now seeing your comment- so you’re struggling with figuring out W H A T to do- besides shopping? I would start with asking yourself what “lights you up?” What do you do that’s fun, soul nourishing, and makes your heart feel full? Do you have any creative hobbies? Do you like to read or listen to podcasts? Do you like to get out in nature, hike, or enjoy a sunset? Baking? Cooking a meal for your loved ones? What is anything else you do that’s not shopping to have fun?!? If you still can’t think of anything then I would implore you to start trying some new things!! 🤗 What’s something you’ve always wanted to try? To do? Maybe it’s time to get reacquainted with yourself and what lights you up. ✨Also don’t forget- a huge part of healing is feeling. So understanding where our urges to shop come from so we heal and understand the r o o t of the problem and not just solutions to “bandaid” them! We are here to heal and understand ourselves- not just blanket over them with distractions 🫶🏽🤎 You got this!!! Let me know if this helped at all 🧚🏽‍♀️✨

    I feel this right now. Im looking at bags hours and hours finding an alternative bag for the one that I saw on the influencers but I already have a lot as well and feeling guilty already about the price of all of them. But Im still wanting more because there is this look of mine that Im trying to picture in my head. 😢 I want to heal too.

    :( I’ve been spiraling out of control overspending. Anytime I feel insecure, I notice I would go buy something that would make me feel or look better to make up for it but I would almost black out at the “confirm order” after order button and never take into account my consequences until after the fact and feel so bad :( My dad was an alcoholic & would go buy beer every weekend but even more if he was stressed and it would always make his anger worse I need to get out of this black hole 😢

    Oh sweet girl thank you for sharing this piece of your story with me🥹 When I read the part where you almost “blackout” when you purchase- I wonder if it’s you, Disassociating? Are you familiar with that term? I would look into what that looks and feels like and see if that resonates with you at all🤎 Experiencing a loved one who has alcoholism is a heavy trauma and it sounds like you’re already awareee that’s where your shopping may have stemmed from? In order for our leaves to fully bloom, we need to heal our roots first- as they are the foundation, strength and understanding for it all. Start looking, feeling, healing into your childhood and experiences that shaped you into these urges to shop now! You got this beautiful soul! So needed to see this today ! Thanks for sharing! My shopping starting getting out of control over lockdown - working from home, social isolation and challenge upon challenge with navigating the curveballs of life. Now it’s a point that I’ve run out of space for the duplicates of things I’ve bought impulsively or out of FOMO and it’s getting to become problematic for my family too ,.. I’ve got to go cold turkey and set this right again. I’m in recovery from substance use addiction for over 15 years now (still sober and going strong in that area thank God) so I got caught off guard when the shopping addiction crept up. I know what I got to do, making my mind up and getting off the fence with over shopping . Feeling the hard feelings and actually tuning in to what I actually need in the moment rather than escaping .. thanks again for posting this. Love from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦

    Oh Susane I completely feel you… The emotional struggle is all too real🥹 Seems like you have an awareness of what triggers you emotionally- urging you to want to shop but it’s still been a struggle. For me what helped during this phase was going a layer deeper… looking at the things that M A K E you feel sad and start questioning that. That opened my eyes to so much about my own triggers and where they stemmed from, which ultimately led me to deeper awareness of myself and my habits I needed to shift! You got this!!! Omg I LOVE this thank you! I've been searching for a way to stop shopping for YEARS but most advice I come across doesn't help me AT ALL! This actually gave me such a moment of clarity, this is so wonderful! And I love the analogy of first working out and how hard it is compared to how it is months down the line, that makes so much sense and it makes it so much easier to implement. I've always dealt with a shopping addiction due to my VERY traumatic past, and what's crazy is that most things that I purchased 5+ years ago that I impulsively bought, I no longer have. I'm in a ton of debt due to my shopping addiction and I can't wait to get out of it and live a healthy life so I can start saving for my dreams. Thank you so much for this! I've put this in my favorites list so I can come back to it when I feel an urge coming on. I'm doing good right now but I KNOW It's going to come back eventually.

    Great video. Totally relatable as I’ve started to do this. Question myself when i shop. Put things in the virtual basket and walk away. I soon forget about it. The worst thing is clicking on influencers affiliate links so I’ve stopped. I now only get something now if I truely need it, a replacement or I’ve got funds from selling on vinted. Or birthday and Xmas. I loved shopping and getting new things but instead of going to shops now I’ll go to the gym. Go for a walk etc.

    All my life I thought I was a nail polish junkie. I could never have my nails bare at all. Like I mean never! I always felt like I had to have my nails painted because I told myself a story about how I am prettier wit nail polish. A month ago or maybe a few weeks ago I finally and truly decided to stop wearing nail polish. I decided that I am just as pretty without nail polish and my bare nails are actually pretty without it. I still have moments were I want to cave in and just paint my nails and give up but I stop myself because I am better than that. Having bare nails has given me a feeling of being free. Never in my life would I have thought I would be happy to have bare nails. My 18 year old self is cringing now lol. It's honestly so nice that I am learning to embrace myself as I truly am.

I had a major “yolo” attitude in my early 20’s and spent $$ like it was my job 😂 It’s wild to me how we can feel an emotion (good or bad or even boredom like you said) and then feel the impulse to buy something to move through whatever we’re feeling. Maybe take a moment with yourself and ask ‘why do I get bored so quickly from new things I buy?’ Or -why when I’m bored on social media does that equate to “buy something!” Is it a learned behavior? Or is it in response to covering something else up? 🧚🏽‍♀️ Whatever the reason is beautiful, by diving into your unconscious you can start to take back financial power🫶🏽 So much love your way! ✨

Figuring out when to spend and on what was definitely a struggle for me for a while so I just didn’t buy anything 🫠 (not the answer) lolll So I completely relate to all that you’re asking! 🤎 Do you have anything else you’d like answered in the part 2?!? ^ I already took note of the questions above to answer 🤗

    Awe I hear you🥺 Missing out is not a fun feeling… do you feel like you are missing out of “experiences” or “buying” things?! Healing our spending habits is hard but it does get easier… hubby got me using the “every dollar” app (not sure if they have it in Germany?) but we budget out EVERY single dollar coming in and out and what the set budgets are for those categories and it really works for us- we even budget in the things that are important to us and not feeling like we’re “missing out” but looking at it like we are consciously choosing where we spend our abundance 🧚🏽‍♀️ Sending you so much love 🩷

    I have just finished computing and listing all the bags and wallet that I own and let go of over my 10 years of emotional shopping. And the total cost could already buy 1 new chanel bag. Im doing it to control my urge right now in buying new bags to add to my so called collection. Its so hard to do self control. But I need to be mature about it. I remember when I was still in highschool I only had 1 backpack. When I was in university I only had 2, a backpack and a sling bag which was just gifted to me. Then I bought a 20 cad backpack, so total 3. Then some gifts from my aunts. Those are my bags when I reached 21y/o. I dont know what happened to me afterwards. I think the deprivation that I felt and low self esteem geared towards making a statement for myself. But Im now feeling its a waste. Thats just the bag category, doesnt include the other categories which I spent money and time with.😢 I want to heal too.

    I have tremendously CUT DOWN on walking into Marshalls and TJ Maxx! Now, I am on a journey to cancel my Amazon Prime by the end of this year but I still at least have also cut down on buying stuff from Amazon too, and replacing it with the content creation, the journey I have been on since last year, with reading books and writing about minimalism. I did have a dip though, the day I found out my father passed away a few weeks ago, I found myself numb, confused and walking into TJ Max. I only spent $25 and did purchase some skincare / self-care items which I justified & a candle that I will refill later with my own wax. That it was at least stuff I would need anyways after running out of current skincare but still......I FELT the emotions behind it ...but I have quit "boredom" shopping though!

To me, looking back- that was my intuition trying to tell me that what I was doing wasn't working for my highest good- nor was it good for my goals, soul or mental health🫤 What is something else besides shopping that brings you joy and is fun to do for you? Next time you feel the urge to shop- try doing something else thats on your fun list (not food, or alcohol- we dont need a new crutch for an old one🙃) But try going on a nature walk, go swimming, paint some artwork, crochet, write poetry, watch a movie- trying to give ideas around what that something fun could be! Hopefully it brought something to mind for you to try! You got this, One day, one shopping trigger at a time... you can absolutely move through this beautiful soul. Sending you so much love. I love working out and roller skating and have a creative business to keep me fulfilled but I wonder if it stems from being poor in childhood and NEVER getting to shop or have nice things. When you do get the urges- is there a common feeling or theme around when those urges come up? (Like- your stressed, you have a disagreement, you feel sad… etc?) It could absolutely stem from being poor in childhood. I think a lot of us can relate to that. • @mindfullymodern

    @mindfullymodern

    5 ай бұрын

    Yay for 42 days no shopping- although it may not feel like it- that’s HUGE and you should be so proud! The first 3 months were very hard for me. So if i understand you question correctly you’re still dreaming of things you can buy? Okay I know exactly what you mean- you basically play out the fantasy in your mind of “how this item/thing/clothing would just change your life and make you feel so happy/good (insert emotion it brings you here)…. 2 things come to mind…. What are you consuming (social media, movies, reality tv, etc) that’s showing you these things to dream about? I got offline for months when I was first quitting cold Turkey because influencers are everywhere and everyone is selling you stuff online and on shows…. It’s like dangling meat in front of a hungry tiger…. Don’t even look at stuff anymore! Like completely make it out of sight out of mind! It will help with the urges- but also- what are you doing to replace shopping? Meaning to have fun? Enjoy yourself? Laugh? Play? What sparks joy for you outside of spending $$ on shit you don’t need???? If you don’t have an answer to that I’d start there…. All that energy you are/were putting towards shopping and now not shopping…. Pivot it to something productive for you, something that makes you happy. Does that make sense? Does this help at all?!?!? Sending you so much love!!!! You fucking got this!!!!!! 🙏🏽🧚🏽‍♀️☁️🌌

    I realized recently that I have a shopping addiction. My husband sold a property, and he cleared out all our credit card and loan debts of $55,000. I was so freed, and all of a sudden, I took the mind set of we don't have credit card balances, so I can charge it and pay it off when we get paid. Within 3 months, I had excuses to buy and have business ideas that were just an excuse to buy. I realized I made us 18,000 of credit card debt in 6 months. I was so upset and realized I have an emotional shopping addiction . I felt shame as my husband needs things and here I bought 5000$ of cheap jewelry? Really? Omg. I got better by never going in the vintage and higher end thrift shops that I love. I stopped buying things I collected. 2 days ago I feel off the wagon because I went online on live jewelry shops where I had online friends. I told myself I would just talk and watch but the colors and styles were being directed at me by name by the people selling. "I know what you like! This I saved for you, " Etc I ended up buying 250 dollars of 5 dollars jewelry... I threw up after it was over. I decided that I needed to look up shopping addictions, and I saw your videos! Thank you for all the great tips, and I am going to follow and get back up and whip myself back into shape! Your advice and words even support really help me so much! Thank you ❤️
