I love relaxed hair so much! It's very beautiful and so versatile. I think the reason why there's so much negativity around it is because we didn't know how to care for it in the past. Nowadays anyone who chooses to relax can just come to KZread to get educated on growing it and maintaining it.

I feel that anyone can style their hair as they please as long as they don't hate their natural hair. Relaxed hair can be healthy and beautiful and can be a preferred style, but as long as you can still love your natural self I don't see what any issue would be. I'm sure she would still love her hair if she chose to go natural

Great tips! The key take-a-ways for me are consistency and not letting your hair get dry before moisturizing. I recently came to grips that I wasn’t taking care of my hair to the level required for the length I desire. For the last two months I’ve been very diligent and consistent with my hair routine which is SUPER DUPER simple. I shampoo my hair every 4 days so it doesn’t get dry. That was a huge problem for me. My hair came out easily and I could never retain much length because I always had to get the dry ends cut off. When I tell you my hair feels like silk now... After I shampoo I roller set it and use a low heat setting to dry and then I apply a generous amount of jojoba oil. That’s it and I start over 4 days later. I also stopped using cream conditioners because they caused my hair to come out in clumps in the shower. I now use a spray-on, leave-in conditioner and that solved the problem. My hair is about shoulder length. I can’t wait to see where it is in 6 months. I also get a trim with each relaxer, which is every 4 months.

Staying consistent with your hair and keeping the moisture levels constant is one of the keys to length retention. I moisturize in the morning and again in the evening it’s unbelievable how much moisture my hair loses during the day and how much moisture it loses while I am sleeping. It still appears to be moisturized but when I give my hair a squeeze I can detect the dryness I have lost during the night or day and I quickly replace that moisture so that every strand is receiving constant attention. Consistency pays off big time.

"Moisture momentum" is it. trim. I crochet braid my hair every 30-45 days. I keep my hair pre-pooed and shampoo once a week while wearing my braids. I seal after each wash, leave-in, tea tree cream and Blue Magic. I keep my ends trimmed after each take down, I make sure my ends are blunt, and what a difference. My hair grows faster and thicker retaining length with thick ends. Although I am natural, your relaxed tips works. Oh, I protein treatment with rice water. I keep it simple and consistent.

I tried Shea moisture's black castor oil anti breakage spray and Palmers gro therapy grease and castor oil. It definitely works! I also put my hair in box braids. I use Aphogee green tea protein spray more on my ends if I feel my hair is weak since I have color and a keratin treatment. Make sure you don't put water on your braids, hair will tangle. Stick with a oil spray or the black castor oil spray. Don't wear tight braids either.

Thank you for your video. For the past 6-8 weeks, I have incorporated moisturizing (I could not find a product that suited my low porosity relaxed hair but the Hawaiian Silky and the one in the blue and white bottle I've seen you use are game changers), weekly deep conditioning along with oiling/massaging my scalp and I must say I've seen major improvements to my hair. Guys, these things do work! Find products that suit your hair type and be consistent. Don't be afraid to change products, not everything works for everyone, but when you do finds something that your hair loves, stick to it!

Great video. The true testament is in your fabulous results that you get in the form of your beautiful hair. Baggie Method, Trimming, Moisture vs Protein, Protective Styling...so many videos that people need from you. Negotiating and communicating how and what to trim with one's stylist is not easy to do for lots of women. Any tips on that? So many people don't get professional trims because they have had bad experiences where the stylist cut the hair and within seconds all that effort , care and length was gone. I don't think it's just a matter of women trying to hold on to length. I think it may be a combination of communication and trust and negative experiences. It would be great if you could discuss how you cultivated and arrived at this balance, trust, understanding and positive exchange with your stylist. I'd love to see a video of you getting a trim and discussing and verifying what to trim with your stylist. I think that would help a lot of women.
