When I was in kindergarten, (aged 5) my friend wasn't in class one day. When I asked the teacher where he was, she told me that his grandpa had died and he had to go to the funeral. I spent the day envying my friend for getting out of attending school that day! Once I got home from school, I asked my grandfather "Grandpa, when are you going to die?" They laughed and laughed!

Hi there! I just wanted to share my hernia experience. I had my daughter in November 22 2019, and had to have an emergency csection, after the csection I developed a infection at the incision. I ended up having to have a second surgery for the infection and had a wound vac for about three months. Due to all that I had three huge hernias. I looked 6 months pregnant due to the size of the hernias. I had surgery to fix my three hernias and have a abdominal reconstruction in September 2020. Healing sucked, big time. I was cut from hip to hip, I believe I had a total of 42 staples. I had to sleep on my back slightly elevated. It was horrible. Recovery for the actual incision was around 2 months and total recovery meaning when my restrictions were lifted took a year. Make sure you are resting plenty, drink tons of water and eat lots of protein! No lifting! I still have some pains and numbness around my scar, but the pain now is no where near what my pain was with the hernias. Please make sure you take it easy, you do not want to pull anything!

As hard as I’m sure it was to be out of commission for a bit, you TOTALLY did the right thing Tim! ☺️ I’m an RN and I see so many small bowel obstructions that were caused by unfixed hernias that were just hanging out for years! That is a whole other set of problems that involve more surgery, potentially being put on IV nutrition for a period of time, long term antibiotics, etc. All of that I wouldn’t wish upon anyone! Glad you’re doing well and I love seeing Jackson grow with every week! ❤️

Dude! As a fellow hernia surgery survivor I salute you! Mine couldn’t be laparoscopic, so recovery was long and uncomfortable - but it was all worth it. You mentioned that it was odd that the hernias didn’t hurt before but the hernia repair hurts, but eventually the hernias would have hurt quite a bit. I know this because that’s what happened to me because I put surgery off for a long time and the hernias eventually became very painful. The repair pain is suffering for a short term to keep from suffering long term. You’re gonna be great soon!

I love it. I order online from them now. They have a lot of variety of spices and fun things there and I do think they have spicier seasonings that you might like to replace your Hawaiian seasoning.

I must admit-- I'm quite jealous of that park! It seems kinda small, but a 4-person see-saw and two different zipline swings?? So fun! When I was a kid, the best park I went to was all cement hills with footholes and slides carved in. You'd bring giant pieces of cardboard, throw sand down the slides and ride down on the cardboard. Seems pretty old fashioned compared to these fancy contraptions at that park!

I completely understand the post-surgery questioning of if it was really worth it. I had brain surgery just over a year ago and it took me months to come to terms with the fact that I not only allowed, but also wanted someone to remove parts of my brain and skull. Even now, I absolutely know for fact it saved my life, but I am also disabled from it and it makes me question if I made the right choice at the right time or if I should have tried to do more beforehand.

As a person recovering from inguinal hernia surgery myself for a little more than 2 weeks I will say you did good by not waiting to get surgery. I waited for years cause it didn’t cause pain and then recently while at work doing heavy lifting it caused me so much pain my job told me to go home and clock out and get it checked out. Mines had gotten pretty big and pretty bad over time. After the surgery I had a lot of soreness cause they said my hernia was tangled and they had to untangle some things so my surgery took a little longer than usual. But everything turned out good. I don’t even need the pain meds they gave me anymore. Now my body just needs to finish absorbing the mesh. I may or may not be able to go back to work in two ish weeks depending on the progress

Hahahah, I bought that Greedy Granny game while watching this video because my friend is turning 50 this year and I think this would be hilarious to play at her party!!

Hi Tim & Jen, glad you’re feeling better Tim, if you’re looking for a new show to watch, try Resident Alien, it’s on Peacock, and it’s so funny. 😋

I work In surgery. The hernia may not have been bothering you but if they became incarcerated then you are in emergency surgery with a chance of a bowel resection. Definitely better to get them taken care of before something like that happens. You made the right choice.

Love me some Jackson Cam! So much fun, lol! You should watch Tinder Swindler on Netflix. It's pretty crazy the stuff that guy pulled off. Heal quickly, Tim!!

I know how you feel about not moving around much, I had a concussion a month ago and had to just lie there! I recommend Dopesick on Disney plus if you haven’t watched it yet.

Tim, 'resting in your corner of the world' is allowing your surgical stomach area (inside & out) to heal well ! Please continue to be sensible & not over zealous about being less active during this recovery time. Listen to your body ! Heal thoroughly & safely ! I recommend watching the thriller movie "No Exit".
