    Nobody has done a detailed video like this regarding UBC admission process therefore thank you very much. I finished grade 11 with a 93% average and also did extracurriculars such as playing for my school soccer team, Muslim youth club(religious club) and volunteering such as tutoring but I didn’t do any leadership yet. Any tips?

    Honestly, your application already looks pretty good, but there’s always room for improvement, right? First and foremost, I believe your academic profile is weaker than your personal profile (Although both are definitely above average!). Grade 12 is definitely no walk in the park, so if you realize at some point that your marks are starting to drop below the admission average (~92%), you should consider dropping one of your extracurricular activities to ensure your academic profile doesn’t lag behind. Obviously, this is just a worse case scenario. If you believe you could handle additional work, I would recommend joining a leadership program, preferably something that has a low amount of time-commitment so as to not negatively affect your grades. A school club with leadership elements would be good. To be honest though, even without any additional activities, as long as you maintain and average around your current average, your chances are good! So one last tip, when doing the personal profile, remember to get others to give you some feedback to ensure you are putting out the best work you can! I hope you get into UBC!

    this is probably the best explaination video on youtube I've come across! This was really helpful:) I finished grade 11 with a 94.8% average. My grade 12 midterm grades so far is not looking too good (93% pre calculus 12, 83% statistics 12, 90% english 12). My next courses are law 12, leadership 12, economics and Spanish 12.My activities are senior basketball team, had an online clothing line business, and coaching kids how to play basketball. I am also applying to UBC Sauder and already watched your video on the personal profile. Is there anything I need to do to improve my chances getting in? Thanks

    Honestly, right now it’s probably too late to worry about your grades, so it’s best you focus on highlighting your strengths on your personal profile. Looking at your profile, your extra-curricular activities are quite strong, so you should have a good chance of getting in! Just be confident in your abilities, and demonstrate your character in your personal profile and video interview! I hope to see you here next year!

    Hi there! Thank you so much for sharing your stats with us, it really helps me put things into perspective. However, your awesome stats is making me really scared to apply now haha. I have lots of extracurriculars (part time jobs, internship, executive positions at school clubs, volunteer, and cadets too hehe). The concern is that my grade 11 average was only 92.75% with most my classes being in the high 90s but I’m worried about my pre calc 12 being only 92(taking calc in grade 12 rn) and my lowest at 85 (bio). I’d try my best to make my personal profile shine like you said(not sure how but will try my best 😭😭). Thank you so much again!

    I'm not sure what faculty you're trying to get into, but if it's not related to sciences, the affect of the low bio mark will be limited. Besides, that average is around the admission average, so with the help of your personal profile, you should still be fine. Also, idk if you are, but if you're from Alberta, your marks also get a 4% boost because Alberta education is harder!

    Thanks for the great video! I'm applying to the faculty of science under the B + MM program. I finished Grade 11 with close to a 97% average, and I hope to maintain a similar average for Grade 12. I'm on the student council at my school as a public relations rep, I volunteer as a tutor for high school students and work as a tutor for K-12 students, I worked as a business associate for an IT company, I've had presidential roles in running events in my school community such as a case study competition and career conference, and I'm in a 'Business Specialist' program. Do you think I have a shot of getting in? UBC is my top choice.

    Hi! Thank you for the video it was really helpful!! I have a few questions and I am hoping if you can help me with it! I am currently in an American online school, and I just completed my 11th grade with 96 percent. Since I am in my online school, I can choose to do my courses whenever I want, and hence because of my Laziness I delayed my 12th semester 1, and it will be completed next year. (I am confident I will complete all of my courses before I graduate though. Is it still possible to apply using only my 11th grade? Do they ask for my 12th grade grades? And what kind of transcript did you send to them? Like your 11th and 12th? also do I have a good chance of getting into Ubc, my 9th grade was really bad at 80 percent but the rest of my school years are 90-98. I am also afraid I didn’t do much in my activities, I played badminton for years but never taught or got to captain (just for fun). Did part time jobs(internships) and created my dropshipping business and filling Insta pages as well as creating a few KZread channels. I don’t know if they show any leadership skills or communication skills though.

  • @PolySpective

    @PolySpective

    Жыл бұрын

    For transcript, they just ask for your high school transcript. For BC, it has grade 10, 11 & 12. However, UBC will only look at your grade 11 & 12 marks. Not going to sugarcoat it, UBC starts admitting students in February because they want to see some of your grade 12 marks, so not having any will definitely be a disadvantage. On the bright side tho, the extra-curriculars are all about how you frame your strengths. I would focus on your internships, and especially your drop shipping business, as that’s definitely something unique that can help you stand out. Ultimately, it’s important to remember that UBC weighs the two sides 50/50, so since your grade 11 marks are good, as long as you frame your strengths well in your personal profile, you have a good chance at getting in! Feel free to ask follow up questions!

    I have also applied to UBC msc mathematics but I am getting worried if they will take note of my lower marks. I had 85 and 89% in my first year. Whereas 79 and 75 in second year due to my participation in camps and extra curricular. I have some international conference experience. My IELTS score is also 8. Will it be of some use ?

  • @PolySpective

    @PolySpective

    Full disclaimer, I'm only a first year, so I'm only knowledgeable regarding the undergraduate program. Having said that, they will probably be looking at your GPA, so all your grades throughout the years would probably count. International conference experience would probably help, but IELTS score is probably meaningless when you're approaching Graduate level

    I have been asked to submit supporting documents for my application which I did but did not have the right requirements, few weeks later I was emailed to submit documents with updated requirements but there is no option to re-submit documents on the UBC Applicant Service Centre. I have contacted both the admissions team and admission assistant through email and I have not been replied. Is there a way to re-submit documents of which I'm not aware about as I really need to submit these documents

  • @PolySpective

    @PolySpective

    5 ай бұрын

    Honestly I’ve never heard of anyone encountering this issue before, so I’m not sure. I would read that email again to see if they gave any instructions on how to re-submit. If not, I would wait until the office is open, to call the admission office and directly ask for help. Last resort would probably just send the new documents just by replying to the email that asked you to re-submit, but this is a bit risky since we really don’t know if they even read those, so this is really a Hail Mary lol. I’m pretty confident they should be able to help if you call the admission office. Good luck!

    From the sounds of that, both academic and personal profile sounds decent, so you should be fine as long as your essays are well written! Do keep in mind that in first year, you can only get into faculty of science, and you’ll need to compete with your peers to get into pre-med with your grades in first year. it’s definitely challenging, so I bid you good luck 🫡🫡

    Hi, my average for Grade 11 is 90%. I'm hoping to perform well in the first semester of Grade 12 as I've developed good work habits. I plan to apply for computer engineering. My extracurricular activities include volunteer work, taking care of my siblings, a part-time job, and working on projects such as developing websites. Do you think I have a chance of getting in

  • @PolySpective

    I think you have a decent chance! Most of my friends have around low to mid 90s average in high school, so raise that average by a little and you should be comfortable! Extra curriculars looks fine, as long as you write your personal profile properly to reflect how those experiences have shaped you!

    If I were to apply to the psychology program, what do you think my average would need to be? My extracurriculars are decent: Leader of biology, finance, robotics, and psychology club. I also did a co-op internship at a major hospital and did reach ahead certificates by UHN along with an Ontario biotech SHSM program. If I take AP biology and pyschology do you think they will help boost my application? Also are all the science courses I'm taking necessary to get into BA.

  • @PolySpective

    @PolySpective

    WOW those are some impressive extra curricular!! Definitely most impressive ones I’ve seen, as long as you’re able to write good essays to showcase your experiences, you’ll be totally fine on the personal profile side. AP Biology is a bit unrelated to arts tbh, if you’re not doing it bc you’re interested, I wouldn’t recommend taking it since it’ll take up a lot of time, and not very transferable to your degree. UBC does look at your grades with an emphasis on “relevant courses”, so definitely try more on the psychology course lol. Average wise, I would say around 90% should be good (since your personal profile is so impressive, high 80s might be enough, but let’s not cut it that close lol)

    I'm assuming you mean repeating a high school course? I didn't, nor do I know anyone who had to repeat a course, but I believe it does negatively impact your application. However, it is hard to quantify how much of an impact it has. All I can tell you is that it doesn't disqualify you from being accepted, but it probably lowers your chance of getting in.
