I had two of my football songs picked up by the Carolina Panthers a few years back. That was exciting! They played them for the last 5 or 6 games of the season. I have a brand new hockey song that I’m trying to get picked up.

That is great. I'm happy you got a placement. I've been doing sync licensing for over 10 years with music on Love and Hip Hop, Catfish, and even a Superbowl commercial. I hope you continue and find more placements. It's a long game strategy but it's worth it.

this was dope. ultimately building up a great portfolio can be way more beneficial then "getting to the bag". im assuming its no money on the backend either ( especially since its only airing that one time 4 the most part). in the end, if u can still use the song in whatever capacity u want still, its not bad at the end of the day congrats sis. Also, i was wondering have u ever did anything like video game music wise (app game, console, ect)??

I will never get my music away for free because really no matter who uses it if they weren't willing to pay for it then it means that they thought it was worthless. And Sarah I can tell you your music is definitely not worthless!!! And by the way I just listened to your full mixtape that you put on KZread music just a few minutes ago. Fire flames. Loved the atmosphere and art work and music of course. Great job!!!

Everyone’s vision of value or worth is different. As I stated before, it’s not your music, it’s gods, and it’s your responsibility to get it heard to as many people as possible verse it sitting on my hard drive where it makes no impact in anyone’s life. Additionally, you don’t know what happened to the music when you release it. I own the music. Which means I get the opportunity to license the music forever, receive royalties from the master AND composition PLUSSSSSS these documentaries will prolly win an Emmy Next year. So just imagine that you own a song, that gets placed on a network that is way bigger than you can even pay for 😳, you get a backend check and to say your music was in an Emmy award sports documentary verse just have an ego and say it’s worthless…go for it.

@@Sarah2ill It's not that I don't feel what your saying it's just that if we all stick together and don't give our stuff away for free then they won't expect it for free. And I've been subscribed from the beginning. I just think it's a shame that an organization like the NFL can't pay for music that they use the latest view it as a worthless commodity that they can get anywhere if you don't do it they'll just get somebody else but if we all stick together they can't get it anywhere else. I just think it would be better to put that you turn down multiple offers from the NFL because they didn't want to pay for it but I still wanted it!!! 😂

Just remember that God gave you the talent to make the music because you're not worthless the reason the talent is given is not just to get out to the people so that it can have an impact but it's also to put bread on the chosen persons table. I almost found it offensive that you say it's God's music so you give it away for free God's music's not worthless. I understand you're trying to plant seeds but as it says in the sermon of the talents it definitely matters where you plant them! That's why the model is moving to having a website and selling your music exclusively there where it's not on these platforms that are ripping you off. That's why I'm going direct to consumer. Pharrell Williams Kanye myself we all believe it's God's music as well but we also believe that you got to pay for God's music to feed the family and to keep making more music. It's hard to make music if you're broke 😆😆😆😂😂😂

@@Sarah2ill and in addition to this you said that you signed an agreement say that that you were giving it away and that you would never get any royalties from it. That's what those agreements are for and truth be told the college is probably getting paid by the NFL and then they're getting you guys to give your music away for free and saying oh wow this is a great huge opportunity. What good is it to have a song on an Emmy award-winning show are documentary if when people ask you how much did you get paid for that and you have to say oh nothing I just gave it to em. Everybody's going to be like huh

Steve Sabal’s Dad was NFL royalty (NFL Films) I kept hearing music similar to mine but then learned it was all licensed to Sabal’s production company. Seems like he has a lock down w NFL

👏🏽Congrats on the sync placements Sarah! I don't have any sync placements yet, but I was curious about how that worked out with you on the business side. Usually PRO's are involved (at least on the backend), but I know you mentioned the Gratis License, which may negate the rest of my comment(s). Are you still apart of Epidemic Sounds? When I applied a few years ago, they mentioned the conflict of having a PRO, which is why I was trying to understand how that all worked out (if you're able to share). Either way, congrats on the work you've done thus far. Much continued success throughout your journey. Bless🙏🏽...

Dope! Since you do a lot of samplings (I think), how are you dealing with sample clearance in the sync/licensing process?

I make all my music from scratch when it comes to dealing with sync licensing.

Now you can't say you don't know what blowing up is I suggested you sample your vocals long time ago several times

When you say you did it for free did you sign an agreement to get back end royalties? Yes with sync licensing you make a lot of music for free. The deal is you collect the writers share of the recording on the back end when your music airs on tv. I hope you're in a PRO (Performance Rights Organization). They collect royalties for artists. If the video is played on tv they are legally responsible for paying you royalties. You didn't mention a separate publishing company so I assume you are your own publisher. In that case you are owed the Publisher share (50%) and the Writers share (50%) split among everyone who produced and wrote on the track.
