    I think a lot of people don’t stress how important a good mindset is before the test. I had gotten a 29 twice in a row, and didn’t study ONE bit before my last test, but I went in treating it like a war and that I needed to attack every question with relentless effort because everything was on the line. My parents had yelled at me the night before because they were pissed I didn’t study, and I used that as fuel. I was hungry to succeed. And I got a 32 EDIT: I found this after a while and wanted to share another tip that helped me. At some point during the test you may begin to panic because you don’t know something or feel like you’re going to fast/slow etc. If this happens to you just remember to breathe and do the best you can with what you have. Stay calm and muddle through and you’ll be fine, the worst thing you can do is go bananas.

    I used all of these recommended subject-specific prep books for the ACT too. They are really in-depth and offer tons of practice, really drilling you and forcing you to increase your score in those sections. As she said, its best to allocate about a week or 2 for each book, so it's hard to do a lot of this prep last minute. Also, I didn't study science at all because I did good in it for one of my tests, and then in the next test my science score went to from a 33 to 27, so I purchased "For the love of ACT Science" which helped me bring my act science score up to a 35. Overall, I got a 35 from the fall test in my senior year and I'm really happy.

  • @icon6200

    @icon6200

    this might be too late but all i can say is TAKE PRACTICE TESTS!! People who get low scores like that normally get them not because they don't understand the material but because they don't understand what the questions are asking them and because of poor time management. And the main way to fix those is through practice tests! There a bunch of free ones you can find online and the ACT makes a book with a ton of them in it. Basically just take a ton of those to get used to the pacing and overtime you'll realize that a lot of the questions are really similar and not difficult!!

    the act scores help with scholarships but pleaseeee don’t stress about getting a very good “perfect” score especially if ur going to community college (i am going to community college dw is not a bad thing) for nursing school at the school im going to (northwest) you need a 19 to get in. a 36 is amazing to strive for but if you don’t get a 36 don’t worry. it doesn’t define how smart you are. i’m homeschooled and tests aren’t as important as public school makes it out to be. just study ( i have an app called something like act prep it’s very helpful for my adhd brain!) just don’t stress. because the stress will just take over and you won’t be able to retain information. i haven’t taken the act yet but i’m taking it next weekend. i am scared bc i haven’t taken a test around a bunch of people but i’m gonna study and take notes and all that so it’ll all work out. plus take in a calculator... and use it as much as you can. it doesn’t matter. don’t cheat either!!! just do ur best and take as much time as you can !!!

    I just took the ACT and the science section had to be the easiest. One thing I would for some tips that help me get familiar was - Knowing rules - REMEMBERED MATH FORMULAS GUYS ( I STRUGGLED WITH THIS A LOT) - Knowing your grammar and structure - When reading, skim and annotate don’t spend so much time on questions for reading. If you don’t understand then just move on. - Practice. Practice Practice. TAKE PRACTICE EXAMS AND TIME YOURSELF! This was you can understand where your strengths and weakness. - The last thing to do is just do your best. I usually have test anxiety but don’t worry so much about your school just do your best and take it as many times. Start with a small goal instead of a huge one for example 19 to a 34. Thats a lot but it’s an high expectations which you can still have but have a goal where you can reach that’s also reasonable! I hope this helps!

    Here is my ACT story. I've taken ACT 4x and about to take it a fifth. First time, I took it in my junior year and got a 19. Second time in my junior year, I got a 20. Third time in my junior year, I got a 22, but notably, I got my reading and English up by 5-6 pts to 25 and 26 respectively. Problem is my math and science remained both at 19 for the past three tests. The last test I took though, I got a 23. English went down by one, reading went down by 4... but my math went up by 3 and science went up by 6!!! If my reading hadn't gone down and my English and reading had at least stayed the same, I would've gotten a 25, which is what I am currently aiming for. I take it in four days and my goal is between a 27-30, a 36 would be lovely, but for me as a person who struggles to take tests, it's most likely not realistic, but hey you never know. One tip Ik is that reading and science test the same skill and they shouldn't be but at max 1 pts apart. I still haven't gotten there but hopefully soon! Wish me luck and I'll be back with my new score soon :)

  • @devinwindham9656

    @devinwindham9656

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes, I should recommend a weekly practice test. There are mock ACT timers on the Internet. You can also have someone enforce time limits. I am an ACT tutor. I received a 2400 on the SAT, the highest possible score at that time. Are you interested in my services? Basically my method is to discuss strategies. Then I email a recent test. You take it observing time limits. I email you your score and the questions you missed. You retry the missed questions. Then we go over the questions you are still unable to do and discuss strategies. We keep repeating the process until you surpass your target.
