Hi, I have been playing less than a year and the theory and sight reading really holds me back, its just so much to learn and take in, like learning a new language that has a different alphabet like Arabic or something where nothing you already know helps! Im 61 so started very late. I practice, I have lessons, i watch your videos, i try to understand but boy is it hard. Your "bitesize" helps and i am sure, over time i will get there, or at least get somewhere :-) The sight reading and intervals i think really hold me back as i spend so much time working out what the next note is rather than knowing - i still need to work out C.... A ..... T ...... and dont just know "cat" on sight ...... Anyway, thank you for helping.

Hi , yes sure it would be great to see some tutorials about ear- training. It’s great when I can recognize the melody of a song when I just hear someone humming the notes or playing the notes on a piano or guitar or any instrument.

I just started playing maybe a few months ago..I’ve always been a singer but just started learning piano, and mostly have learned songs from your tutorials and songs from a couple other channels... but I couldn’t find tutorials for all the songs I wanted to learn so I went to chordify, and I have no idea how, (I know it has a lot ol to do with learning from you and practicing), but now I can go on there and every song I’ve wanted to learn I just somehow started playing along with it?? I don’t even know scales or anything? I guess it’s by ear? But I can’t believe it? It’s awesome...but I still need to learn so much..thank you again! ❤️😊

That's great! I always figure the songs out myself (unless it's classical music for example, then I use sheet music), as I find that a lot of websites such as ultimate guitar inaccurate and not reliable - hence one of the reasons I now create my own! You've obviously been learning a variety of different songs with different chords and learning that way, so it sounds like your chord-symbol-reading has developed well :)

Hi! Thank you for the great lesson. You mentioned the planned ear training videos. Can you include a technique on how to add final touches? I want the songs to sound better. I always start with an arpeggio of the chord progression for left hand then the melody on the right. I feel that these are just the minimum requirements. I want to take it to the next level. There are a lot of videos on playing by ear but I can't find one with additional lessons for final touches. Hope you can help. Thanks again!

Hey! An ear-training video is literally planned for Monday! (long over due I know!). I'm not entirely sure what you mean by 'taking it to the next level' or 'final touches' - I think you mean how to embellish a little? These 2 tutorials may help: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ep6txaOkl6yfiJM.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/gWZ_p8Sbn8vMdLQ.html (they're both directed at accompaniment though)

@@BitesizePiano This tutorial is great, I didn't know I need this. It'll definitely help me improve my accompaniment and I love singing while playing the piano. Also, apologies for not being clear, but to elaborate, my current technique is arpeggio for the left hand then melody on the right, but only single notes. It feels lacking. I want to make it sound fuller. I try to add a note that is an octave lower. Not sure what else to add for harmony, I can try to experiment but I believe there's a system behind it. I also try splitting the note sometimes (not sure how it's called). Anyway, I'm definitely gonna wait for that upload today. And thank you so much for the response, I really appreciate it 😊🙏
