This is exactly how I do my daughter's hair all the time. I must admit, those motion products are really, really good! I use them as well. Struggling to get her to allow me to braid her hair. She is like "NO MOMMY!"

I think it just differs from child to child, their personality also plays a role in whether they will sit still long enough to get their hair done. My baby girl just turned 1 and she tosses, turns and flips over when I'm trying to do her hair. I get a full workout by the time I'm done. I did start combing her hair at an early age, but she's just not having it. She also doesn't like wearing hats,and pulls off her headbands. I'm hoping that as she gets older she will tolerate it better.
