How I destroyed a junior developer career

Ойын-сауық

Look (It's all fictional !) at the valuable insights shared by Boop Beep as he unfolds the story about how he destroyed a junior developer career.
Its a mild day!
#career #programming #software #advice
[It's all fictional. Mr. boop beep has no cousin by the name Mr. X (besides, what kind of name that is. 1 character ? How would a person with such name make social media accounts which require more than 1 character. How would Mr. X create an account on X. Atleast have 2 or 3 characters like Mr. XX or Mr. XXX or something else. What would his parents be thinking while naming him ? Every parent wants their kid to be successful and just be a 10 on 10. Oh, 10 ... X! ok I get it! Makes sense). The takeaway from this video is completely recyclable.

    Good vid. You can make a dang good mini recording boot with cushions. Make a structure around your mic/phone with one side open for your face.

    As a software developer, I strategically forget things I don't need to remember. I try to write code in a way that I know I can understand if I read again after forgetting everything and then actively try to forget it. The code is written down. You don't need to keep a copy in your head.

    That is such a genius way of keeping in touch with the code by forgetting it. It really comes down to the ability of writing clean, simple and understandable code which doesn't surprise the developer who wrote it at the first place if the code undergoes refactoring in the future. Thanks for watching :)

    Look-ahead warnings :- Please lower down the volume as you approch 3:20 till 3:30. Edit break :- Thank you so much for watching this. Part 3:23:00 - 3:24:00 has been edited out of the video. Transcript :- As I say, "a piece of spit", I (as youtube) added a bleep sound to bleep "spit". I didn't think of lowering down the volume and that bleep-cum-loud-scream was kind of hideous. So, that part has been cut out of the video. Thanks for watching 😊

    This is actually how I got tinnitus, a youtuber edited a stupid scream into their video and I was wearing my headphones plugged into my laptop (which means no audio safety, if it is direct 3.5mm jack). Now I hear ringing for the rest of my life, I hope you didn't catch this and this person adds some form of disclaimer or reuploads the video without the scream.

    When it comes to commenting, everybody has an opinion. So, here's mine. I comment when i used programming tricks that does not follow the standard/bug/workaroudn/etc, to avoid doing the research again 'why did I wrote this way'. Also, I don't place comments sparsed between the code. I place all my comments for one function at the end of the function. So that the code is not interrupted by comments, but if you need them, just scroll to the end of the function.

  • @BoopBeepSmile

    @BoopBeepSmile

    2 ай бұрын

    That's a very perfect opinion. I sometimes do the same thing (just above the function) when theres complex math involved or some deviating code. The tradeoff in writing comments is avoiding meaningful but very long variable names which I find reasonable. Thanks for watching :)

    I can't tell if the goal is giving actually good advice or the "Advice" of things not to do. Different things you said are correct and totally wrong, so I really can't tell what the takeaway is. Like, no you don't need to remember everything, but also you shouldn't be writing the kind of comments this video showed for comments...
