Thank you for watching ❤️ when you work with a wooden surface, it is recommended to prime it at least once, followed by good sanding. Depending on the quality of a wood, this step may be done several times: prime, send, prime, send. Then, if you work with a rice paper, it is recommended to apply a coat of white paint to bring its colors up. Then, it is also recommended to seal rice paper or any image with at least one coat of varnish. You seal (protect) your image or rice paper. Otherwise, it can be damaged. For example, if you paint over unprotected image or rice paper, it would be difficult to wipe paint from the surface if you made a mistake, but if the surface is protected with a good varnishing, it can be easily done. The same principle is working with painting. If you need to paint something like your molds or emblemishing, it is recommended to seal paint with at least one coat of varnish to do further work. For example, you paint your emblemishing, you seal it by varnish, then you apply antiquing gel or medium, your paint is protected, and it is not destroyed. If you don't protect your paint with varnish, then paint can be wiped down when working with antiquing gel or medium. I have a video where I made this mistake, I was concentrating on filming and forgot to varnish my paint before applying an antiquing gel. All my paint came off, and it didn't look as I wanted. Pretty much everything you do, you glue something you seal it, you paint something you seal it and so on. There is why you end up doing so much layering. It is also recommended to seal your entire work at the end with at least one coat of varnish to protect your entire work. I followed a lady who applied over 40 coats of varnish at the end on one of the christmas ornaments. Sometimes, one coat of paint is not enough, and an additional coat of paint may be needed, so it also adds to layering. It is also recommended to seal 2 step cracle mediums by applying a coat of varnish, adding another layer to your work. Let me know if you have more questions❤
