Great video! I had the same problem sieving the adults from the juveniles, and found that a cheap plastic kitchen flour sieve with a mesh size of 0.6mm separates the adults and sub-adults from the smallest instars. I use this to get the smallest daphnia to feed my baby corys. Sometimes the cheapest pieces of equipment work the best.

Ive ran tests too, yes an air stone makes a difference, higher volumes of daphnia with air stones, and back up culture is important, the more the better because everyone crashes sooner or later. Theres so many ways to feed and maintain cultures to where why bother giving someone instructions , I tell people just google and research yourself, or go to ''youtube'' to find out how to take care of them.Ive watched every vid on daphnia too. I also raise scuds and aquatic isopods too which are a bit easier as in less likely to crash. I use yeast too to feed them, but mostly spirulina powder. If food is in abundance, they will clone themselves, if food is scarce it seems they breed even number of males vs females in order so the species can carry on. But yeah you can overfeed aslong as it doesnt make waste and cause an amonia spike. Best way to overfeed i think is green water, no matter what that wont cause a crash. Just my thoughts on raising these live crusteceans. Anyways thx for the vid, great job!!!!

Don’t know if this still relatable, but i don’t use aeration in my anything smaller than 15 L. It’s been killing the culture.

Yes, mosquito larvae will live in the daphnia bins if there is a bottom layer of fine mud. I often find them in my bins.

Even your video does not make sense. HOw much do you feed? When do you replace the water? What do you do to stop crashing? None of that was addressed. Totally useless.

Hard to teach just experiment and do what works best for you. You feed light and give the daphnia time to clear up the water. You don’t want to overfeed or you can result in a crash. Ways to prevent crashing. Don’t overfeed, don’t over harvest, preventatives are only to keep back up cultures in the event your culture crashes.
